Most "Anti-gun" PSA's are irresponsible (actually, every single one I've seen has been but I didn't want to exclude the possibility, no matter how rare, that there could be some responsible ones out there)... not sure why anyone would suspect it would be different with this one.

This has to be the dumbest thing I ever saw. Take a gun to school? Who can think of a reason why this would be a bad idea!
If a kid feels uncomfortable and wants to go to the police and report an unsecured gun, that's one thing. But to have a minor remove a gun and carry it around in public is the epitome of stupidity.
I just hope no one gets killed if they follow this insane suggestion.

Good Lord. Take your parents gun to school? Proof once more that we aren't dealing with people with whom we have a disagreement; but rather we are dealing with a significant and growing number of people who are just plain mentally unstable.

I am neither pro gun or anti gun. If I have a stance on guns I'm still not really sure what it is except this is just the stupidest, most dangerous PSA I have ever seen.

I have not seen the PSA on TV yet. Has anyone else? I sure as hell hope I don't. It should be taken off utube as well.

It had a point and then it went completely stupid- I thought maybe the idea was that parents should maybe keep their weapons in a better place since kids do wind up with them in school.
Very stupid ad- and what were the parents doing using a BB gun for home defense? He was right to be scared- it could put an eye out.

I keep them in a safe, and that safe is locked. For home defense I have a few boxes with loaded guns in them- also locked, but with technology that makes them easily accessible- to US. That being said, I assume my kids can access them- they can't, but I never take that for granted. I have taught them, and remind them frequently that they are not to touch a gun if they should find on at home or anywhere else, and I've drilled into them my own three rules about guns: 1. Guns are not toys. 2. Treat all guns as loaded NO MATTER WHAT and 3. NEVER point a gun at someone, or at yourself.

I think the intention of the video is to tell parents kids probably feel unsafe if a gun is kept unsecured in a house. It is not a how to. It is a cautionary tale.
Except for it being on utube, what is known about this video? Has it been broadcast anywhere?

The intention failed miserably. WTF showing taking the gun to school in a backpack as a good idea- scare the shit out of a teacher?
It isn't a PSA anyway- it is some film school woman trying to be creative and she screwed the pooch. How did the OP even find this?

Its labeled as a PSA, however, we don't know if she made it as an example piece or it is for some TV station. PSAs usually have text in the beginning and the end saying they are PSAs plus who they are sponsored by.
I too wonder how Sweetdreams found this video.

Yes, I meant gun rights websites. Thanks but I'm not into them. A friend sent me the link. She teaches and thought it was dangerous like I did. I doubt if she frequents gun rights websites either but her husband is a hunter so maybe he passed it on from one of them.

Just how many things are wrong here.
1. burglary. 2. Minor possessing a firearm. 3. Concealed weapon without a permit. 4. Transportation of a weapon on a school bus. (Maybe) 5. Possession of a weapon on school grounds. 6. Others maybe, possession of a stolen firearm, Possession of an unregistered firearm, and from another thread possession of unregistered ammunition.

Maybe they should use this situation as a public service announcement
www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/2-year-old-accidentally-kills-his-mom-in-wal-mart/ar-BBhmnXx
HAYDEN, Idaho (AP) — A 2-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his mother after he reached into her purse at a northern Idaho Wal-Mart and her concealed gun fired, authorities said Tuesday.
Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman Stu Miller told The Associated Press the woman was shopping with her son and three other children. Her family had come to the area to visit relatives, he said.
The woman, whose identity was not released, had a concealed weapons permit. Miller said the young boy was left in a shopping cart, reached into the victim's purse and grabbed a small caliber handgun, which discharged one time.
"It appears to be a pretty tragic accident," Miller said.
The woman's husband was not in the store when the shooting happened at about 10:20 a.m. Miller said the man arrived shortly after the shooting. All the children were taken to a relative's house.
The shooting occurred in the Wal-Mart in Hayden, Idaho, a town about 40 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington.

To be honest, I am not sure this is the whole story, as a two year old reaching into her purse, and able to pull the trigger...... but, should not have happened.

Maybe he pushed it and a lipstick or something got lodged in the trigger guard, and that fired it. Remember, the story says "and her concealed gun fired", it doesn't say "the two year old fired her gun"

Anyone still think a mandatory class for carrying weapons is too much of an offense to the second amendment?
A purse is not a holster- and really a town of 10K in Idaho? How many thugs are hanging around the only store in town where she felt a need to carry in the first place.
I am starting to understand the whole negligent entrustment angle- aka selling guns to any idiot American with a pulse and an ID. And if not that- allowing anyone to carry in public without training- that's crazy- I don't care if anyone wants to carry all day on their own property away from the rest of us but if are bringing weapons in public in the ready to fire state then you should know what the hell you are doing.

I'd really like to be able to feel for the family, but I just can't. Anyone who leaves a loaded gun available to a two-year-old deserves to get shot with it. I AM glad that the only one killed was the idiot with the gun and not some innocent bystander.
And her father-in-law is wrong. She was absolutely irresponsible.
