Yay - You are back, getting more successful and looking freaking fabulous! Love the new hair cut and I'm glad you didn't chop it all off. But I especially love that you sound so happy!

ArchietheDragon let a slow leak in his tire for months until he had to fill it with air twice a day. He just got it patched but we think he should get new tires.
billisonboard thinks guys only cat call because it has proven successful at times. Some of us are trying to show him the error of his ways.
@richardintn is getting a refresher about the difference between a choke hold and an arm lock. he's kind of stubborn
shanendoah has a new job, a new to you daughter and housed a second child while they found a more permanent placement.
That's it off the top of my head.

laterbloomer - I'm pretty certain that haydentiff was here when Pop Tart came into our lives. That was over 18 months ago. But maybe I'm really bad at remembering how long people have been gone. That's certainly a possibility.
Firebird had a couple major windfalls and is now financially set to be able to move, but they still don't know exactly where they want to go.
alabamagal got a new job is about to leave Georgia (as her name says).
Lots of movement on the jobs front (perhaps check out the Job Hunt thread) as a number of people are searching.
NomoreDramaQ1015 had her second little one.

I will happily admit to being stubborn. However, I don't need a "Refresher" on the difference between the two. Others, however do need a refresher on what is and what isn't a "choke hold"... yourself, for example.

I'm so excited for you, haydentiff! (And maybe a wee bit jealous also.) DH and I are pretty much 100% decided that we're moving to Portland, possibly as soon as February when our lease is up. So we're going up at the end of this month to look around and figure out where we might like to live so we can narrow our job search. Babybird is two now and she's a lot of fun. Very spunky and lively and chattery.

My name was just officially added to the list of speakers on the conference website, so that's really happening... <"I will not pass out... I will not pass out">
I'm going to have to start a public speaking thread because I really want to nail this.
Practice. Practice and then practice some more. You will rock this.

Congrats!!! So glad you are doing well and having this exciting venture. You might want to join toastmasters to help with public speaking.

Know your subject inside and out. When you know a topic really well and are excited about the information you are sharing public speaking is a breeze.

I'm here and thrilled to hear about your new adventure! Would love to watch the video but not sure when. Tomorrow I'm supposed to be sailing in a regatta, so will be out from around 10:30 - early evening. Then again, if you're still in Florida you know we're having a huge front go through and the wind is gusting to 35/40. So unless the front has passed by time to sail tomorrow, they'll probably cancel the regatta and I'll be home earlier. I'll check back here tomorrow morning before I leave in case the video is ready then.
Tell us how your presentation went. Was the audience receptive, good questions? Any good leads on VC funding?

Still here, this is Dark by the way. If this is the product we talked a bit about in PM I'd love to see the video. If it can manage inventory across multiple sales channels both in store and online I'll buy one right now. Hey Dark! Ultimately, this is one of the goals. We only have a prototype right now. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to sell anything to anyone. We are in the process of securing VC and then we will move on to development. There are 2 sides to our project. One serves merchants, the other is for consumers. I don't want to say very much about what we're working on before you guys see the video. I need to know if the video/information presented makes sense to people without any prior knowledge of our project.

Here's the long version of the conference. While everything turned out for the best for the company, it was disappointing for me personally. I didn't end up speaking. There's a long backstory not worth trying to explain, but there are many people who do not want us to succeed and many people that didn't think we belonged at that conference. I'll leave it at that. Anyway, the packet of info I received for my speaking slot said the event was going to be run like a Ted Talk and that's how I should prepare. So I did. Also, my partner created a video that was going to be playing slowly in the background and it was timed to my speech. Less than an hour before I was scheduled to speak, I received an email saying my speaking time was being cut significantly, almost in half. When I started trying to figure out what the heck was going on, I found out that the event was nothing like a Ted Talk. There was a panel of judges on the stage that were going to be firing off questions. I panicked. I was already trying not to pass out before the last minute changes, lol. Fortunately, my partner is always cool and collected and speaks well. He walked on stage and nailed it. Twitter was blowing up when he finished. I think it resonated so well with people because nothing he said was rehearsed. He spoke openly and with passion. I was soooo disappointed that I wasn't able to do the same. I HAVE to be able to do this. I'm signing up for Toastmasters. Anyway, in addition to the crowd of people that followed him back to our booth, several VC's approached too. That's all I can say about that.

First, welcome back (I waved at you while you were in Miami...I am just north of there).
Second, you will get your chance, if not at this conference, then at another. The best things come after a disappointment. And Toastmasters is a great idea.
