I was going to suggest contacting the companies you purchased from - since you had a police report number. But I see that you've done that.
You may want to contact your credit card too.. not that you're in danger of fraud but because they may have some sort of 'insurance' or whatever they have on purchases that apply to your problem.
3 years ago, I had a spate of packages stolen over the course of the holiday season. When the first one disappeared I assumed it wouldn't happen again as it was probably a theft of opportunity (densely populated area with lots of people walking dogs/kids/etc) The second package vanished 2 weeks later and then my brother left some stuff for me 'between the doors' that also vanished even though you couldn't see what he left from the sidewalk. That last theft made me think the thief was brazenly walking up to my door - opening it and looking for stuff...
Police reports and contacting the companies did the trick. The theif got 6 white sheer curtains, and then a music CD (ambient music) a book on cartonage (making boxes) and a Dunkin yo yo. My brother left some newspaper clippings and a sports team lanyard for me.
I know stop having packages delivered to my house from October to the end of January. I have them sent to the office.

I've wondered about what happens if someone grabs a delivery off the porch. One time, DH ordered a 47" Sony TV. I happened to be home when they plopped it on the porch. I couldn't bring it in, however, since I was either pregnant at the time or just had a C-Section and wasn't allowed to lift more than 8 lbs. It was a nervous afternoon...

Sorry to hear about your pkgs. I hope you're able to get them replaced quickly (& free!). A few years ago I went to the apt next to me. The guy was on the phone screaming at someone about his pkg not being left at the door, like they claimed it had been. When I left his place I went downstairs to another neighbor's apt for something. She proceeded to tell me when she walked by the guys apt upstairs earlier, she noticed and took a pkg that had been left. She decided he didn't want it, since he hadn't taken it inside yet. She was quite pleased to find a blueray player in the box. O.M.G.! I once caught this same neighbor coming out of my apt once, when I wasn't home. (I always lock my door now) I told her she had to tell the guy she had it. I couldn't believe it! I know she gave it back, claiming she'd done it so it didn't get stolen. I'm not sure how she explained the fact that she had opened it. It's crazy what some people will do. And the way they justify it, is unbelievable. Good luck!

When my Amazon package was stolen they were really good about refunding the items. I told them what happened and that I had filed a police report, but they didn't ask for any verification of that, just said that if the box was somehow delivered to the wrong address and later showed up to please let them know. I know when I've purchased more expensive items like a new Mac computer they've required a signature upon delivery. With Amazon I would suspect if they didn't require any signature they would eat the loss, but if you signed for an item and then it was stolen because you didn't get it inside quickly enough they would consider that your problem.

I was surprised that they didn't require a signature. It must have been at least $600. I don't think that it was from amazon though. Had they rung the bell for a signature, I think that I could have asked them to plop it just inside the door instead of just outside of it.
