I've seen this stuff before. Not this one, but the same. It is sick. I drove a lady from Kuwait in my cab once. I was asking her how people could raise their kids to die like this. She told me I had to understand that these people have no outside influence, and no hope for a better future, or even a concept of one, and that it is an honor for them, according to what they have been taught, to raise suicide bomber kids. Sickening.

First, you do you understand that the Daily Mail is a tabloid? ...
And honestly, what do you expect children who grow up in an environment of war, to play? We learn from the context of our experiences. What we see every day soon becomes normalized.

I don't remember that comment coming out of your mouth over the past couple weeks about Boehner's affair being reported in a tabloid...
You don't need to read the article; look at the video for yourself and come to your own conclusion about the appropriateness of it.
I'm not sure what the children that grow up in an environment of war would play. Why not ask our German and English friends what they played while children in WWII? I don't recall any of the stories of my wife's grandmother's childhood being about them playing bomber or anything related to the war. They carefully navigated their way home on their bike as bombs flew over head on their way home from dances while maintaining as normal of a life as possible given the circumstances.

It is sad to see, formerexpat. I do recall, however, playing cowboys and indians as a child. Nobody ever wanted to be an indian. What's terrible about this, to me, is those children are dodging bullets, and worse, every day of their lives.

I didn't even know Boehner was rumored to have an affair? ... I think maybe you are thinking of someone else? I don't pay much attention to tabloids (and i have enough to argue against Boehner on to worry about something like that... i don't much care who is sleeping with whom... unless he's married to me... or out hypocritically complaining about other people's morals while doing the same/worse himself...)
I think all kids have grown up to play 'war'... we used to do it in the winter... make teams and bomb with snowballs... i actually think its probably odd that we've totally outbred it in childplay... we think its 'too violent'... but actually that's not true... i guess we just encourage them to play Tour of Duty instead of wailing at each other with sticks...

That's right, this is how they make more suicide bombers... And we encourage all our little boys to grow up to become killers as well. Of course, we tell them they'll be doing it for their country! Oh wait, that's what these kids are being told. Hmmm... murky gray area, it is. Not so simple, I think.

You're equating American soldiers with suicide bombers?

You're equating American soldiers with suicide bombers? You may think it's sick, but that's because everything is black and white to you. In your mind everything America does is AWESOME even if it's killing innocent people, because "Dagnabbit, we're spreadin' democracy!" or some other rigamarol that doesn't actually make any sense. Everything THEY do is BAD, 'cause they're all evil (and couldn't possibly have very human motivations for what they're doing). I'm not saying that I agree with terrorism, but I'm also against war in general.. and I recognize that encouraging "shoot-em up" games in play is essentially raising our sons to grow up to kill other people, or at least to be ok with it.

I also recall playing cowboys and Indians as a kid. Cowboys were supposed to shoot the Indians.

So, educate me, what's the "very human motivation" for suicide bombing innocent people? You seem to have more insight on this than I do...

Ed - after a couple of years of reading you spout nothing but hate for anyone that disagrees with you, I'm not even going to bother.

That's what I thought...you dug a deep hole. But, I would still like to hear about the "very human motivations" of suicide bombers...

Then go try to educate yourself on the subject like some of the rest of us have. I am not going to hold your hand. You're a big boy.

I like how you're trying to imply that some of us are ok with suicide bombers. Typical Ed.

I certainly don't think everything America does is awesome but that doesn't make me believe there is a correlation between our solders and suicide bombers. The concept of blow back, I understand and agree that it is likely to occur but I find it disgusting to compare an organized military of any country to suicide bombers. And no, I never played war [except for the playing card came], cowboys & indians or anything that assimilated war. I played a lot of sports. I also may have played doctor with the neighborhood girls when I was younger. I also may have dressed up in my grandmothers hats, scarfs, heels and make up with my male cousin.

As difficult as it might be for you to understand, Ed, it is possible to understand the reason for the existence and the motivation behind evil (there's a reason we have criminal psychologists, after all) without condoning evil.
I'm also not comparing organized military to suicide bombers - I'm comparing the ad campaign/cultural promotion of each.

children as suicide bombers isn't something new or used just by terrorists. My father faced the same situation during his time in Viet Nam and it wasn't an isolated incident.

OK, let me get this straight. So NOW you're saying it's the military recruiters and our culture that is on par with the terrorists who enlist suicide bombers to murder innocent people? Or did I "misunderstand" you again?

So our soldiers are brainwashed in the same fashion as suicide bombers?

I doubt she was talking about Kuwait children. On top of high paying jobs, Kuwaitians get a monthly check from oil profits----Oil-rich Kuwait gives citizens 690 dollars each Sun Jul 23, 10:58 AM ET
KUWAIT CITY (AFP) - The one million citizens of Kuwait, where government financial assets have topped 166 billion dollars, are to receive a grant of 200 dinars (690 dollars) each, the government has announced.
"In accordance with directives by the emir, the cabinet decided to provide all Kuwaiti citizens with a grant of 200 dinars each," state minister for cabinet affairs Ismail al-Shatti said Sunday after the cabinet weekly meeting.
The two million foreign workers in the oil-rich emirate were not included.
The OPEC member posted a surplus in each of the past seven fiscal years, totalling more than 50 billion dollars. Kuwait is also headed for record revenues this year.
The government offered a similar grant in October 2004 and raised salaries of citizens by 170 dollars monthly last year. MPs in the outspoken parliament have been pressing for a new hike.
The Gulf Arab state provides a cradle-to-grave welfare system to its citizens who receive most public services at heavily subsidized prices and pay no income tax.
Some 92 percent of Kuwait's 300,000-strong workforce are employed in government jobs, with high wages and minimal work pressure.
