I always loved getting those jars with the premixed stuff to make cookies with.

Not a gift, but a way to save $$: For years I saved received Christmas cards. When de-cluttering several years ago, instead of tossing them, I trimmed around some of the fronts (pictures of snowmen, Santa, Cardinals, etc.) and made them into gift tags.

I have cut my list of recipients drastically. I am only buying for my dad, DS and great nephew and niece. No more gifts for the adult niece and nephews and this is the last year DS and I will exchange gifts. Dad is easy. He eats twice every weekend at Dairy Queen, so I will give him a DQ gift card. Mom and dad got a lot of those a year ago at their 90th birthday party and then Christmas. Didn't have to pay with his money for quite some time. Kids presents are bought as DS took their mom and dad and them to Disney World this week and I helped pay for part of that. I got DS's gift months ago, so shopping is done.
So the kids will have something at Christmas, I did get the 10 year old boy a book of jokes and the 7 year old girl a couple of Frozen books. Both of them were told at parent teacher conferences they needed to work on their reading. I'm hoping they will read these books.

DD2 (the 2nd grade teacher) suggested I get the grands magazine subscriptions for Christmas. Has made my shopping VERY easy. Oldest (10 y/o girl) has had the same one & still wants it. The oldest DGS (6 3/4 y/o boy) had 2 years of Natl geographic Jr and changed to Ranger Rick this year. The twins ( boy & girl, 5 3/4 y/o) moved up a reading level group in the Highlights series.
If you find a subject they are intereted in they will want to read 'their' magazines.

I love homemade gifts fitted to the recipient...
I've done crocheted dish rags
Homemade lotion bars/soaps
Homemade vanilla extract
Homemade dog treats (we're big dog people in this family)
Oatmeal Smoothie "mix" (the oats and chia seeds)
Hand tied fleece blankets
Handmade ornaments (when DS was little, he'd make them from foam paper, etc, now we go to the local glass studio and make our own, with help from the experts--it's fun and the blown ornaments are absolutely gorgeous!)
What I love (or would love) to receive:
Hand made blanket (afghan, crocheted, sewn, car blanket, lap blanket, bed blanket...) Knit socks (my mom has made a few pairs for me, I love them!) Knit hats (my mom has also made several of these for me. She helped me make one for my niece last year too-- a Ninja Turtle, Michelangelo, her dad's favorite) Would love an apron! A really cute one with dinosaur fabric or something Handmade Pillow cases I also like the jar mixes (soups and cookies, etc) Mason jar of homemade pork/chicken rub
