I am toying with the idea of buying a new car. While I was out doing errands this morning I saw THE CAR. The lady driving it was just getting out of the car, so I asked her what brand it was. She said "Mercedes". When I got home I looked it up......................OVER $100,000...........(sigh). I lust for that CAR!
I am not a car person, but I fell in LOVE!
What are some of the things that you LUST for but know you'll never spend the money for?

Custom tailored clothes. All of them. Damn that would be nice. Instead I am forever destined to live off the rack.

I would love to travel back in time with about $150K and do another year in NYC -- but with money this time. I went to law school with some very fabulously-dressed women who did all their grocery shopping at Whole Foods and went out to the best restaurants and bars every weekend. Basically, they lived Sex and the City, but without the niggling question on where all the characters' disposable income came from Meanwhile DH and I lived in Brooklyn and our big splurge was a $13 pizza every Friday. (We had fun, though). I wouldn't want to live SATC for the rest of my life, but it would be nice for a little bit. Plus I'd get to keep the clothes!

I want a nice looong vacation someday to one of those amazing resorts with the beach huts on stilts in the water in Tahiti.... for now I'll take a tent on the lake in NH (I actually love the lake in NH to be honest!)

This sounds like a fantastic idea and I would officially like to put in my request to live next door to midjd while we #livethenycdream for a year. There are SO many restaurants I wanted to try, and I would have been at the theater every other night. Not to mention the yacht parties... and the penthouse suites... Yeah, NYC is awesome if you have money.

1970 chevelle ss Meadow Green A Vintage Airstream trailer - shiny silver! A 1959 (0r 60's) Alpha Romeo Spyder AND a live in mechanic to service it. I'd take an 80's era one too (as long as it came with a mechanic). I'd like a little bit of land on a lake or with beach front to put a Micro house or, maybe, a Tiny House. I'd love to set up my current house with solar hot water/solar power -- totally frivolous but oh so COOL! I'd also like to have an Irish Wolfhound - but I'd need someone around to take care of it... . Maybe what I need is a Steward to take care of my house(s), my dog, and my cars.

A Can-Am Spyder. I LOVE them. I desperately want one. I will never buy a motorcycle that costs $11,500 USED.
Most of the other things I want, I can picture myself spending the money on.

I want a bigger house. An extra 1000 feet or so. on a much larger lot than we have.
But I'm too cheap to buy it, and too lazy to move all my crap.

A gap year. Take a year off while I'm young (ish). Hike, see places, not be rushed.
Not going to happen, sadly.
Only hope it to retire early.

I'm not really a car person, but every time I see a 1975 Mustang...I want. Nevermind that they don't have heated seats or power windows and all my other requirements...I lust. And DH offers to buy one for me every time I see one and drool. He is awesome. If money were no object, I would replace every floor in this house with cherry hardwood floors. The spaces I've renovated-kitchen, bath and mudroom all have tile. I really regret not having hardwood in the kitchen. And I'd replace the maple in the other rooms in a heartbeat.

I think for many people, travel while they are young(er) is one of the best investments they can make in themselves. Scrimp, save, travel on the cheap and off season. With a $5K adventure budget, I think a young person could do several months abroad. Especially if they set up something like an exchange host arrangement. (If you'll let me couch surf at your place outside Paris, Rome, London, Vienna, etc., I'll let you couch surf at my place when you come to the US.)

Tesla. I told my husband that if they make one that drives itself, I would not protest the price tag. Looks like they're headed that way, so we might end up spending the money (in a decade or so)! At least it's got lots of storage space. Hmm. First class travel. Handmade clothes. Custom made spinning wheel.

A '68 Camaro. Drool, drool, drool. I'll lust for certain new cars for a while, then I'll get over it eventually. I've been lusting over cars from the '60's for as long as I can remember and it's never eased. The Camaro is my favorite. If money were no object I've have a collection of old cars. A clawfoot bathtub. Since I'd want a seperate shower and I don't have the space for all that, the only way I'll ever have one is to add on to my current house or move. I think about adding on to my house sometimes, but I definitely don't plan on moving anytime soon. I've wanted a clawfoot bathtub since I was a little girl. Somewhere to keep the hot rod would be a problem too. I have a tiny 1-car garage. I'd also love to be a world traveler. Months in different parts of the world. I really don't see how I could pull that off.

1970 chevelle ss Meadow Green If you mean Forest Green, that WAS my first car. SS 396 with the wide tires, white stripes, cowl induction hood, and everything. Bought it used a month before I turned 16 and actually took my driver's test in it. I just can't imagine how thrilled the examiner must have been to see a freshly-turned 16-year-old male show up in THAT!

It's the 3 year old, the H with a job, the responsibility. My field isn't one where you can just take off for some time and come back. People will raise eyebrows. There aren't any sabbaticals, really, either.

For me, flying 1st class. I've done it once for an international flight and it was heaven for a girl like me who doesn't sleep on planes, and gets jittery legs.

A Savannah, a house in my preferred area of the city, vacations to places that are far, far away, all of the clothes.

It would be great not to have to look for the least expensive condo on a beach. Or a "less expensive" vacation to Disney. I would like to just be able to book 1st class all the way and not worry about what we spend.

I want to stay in 5 star Hotels in exotic places and travel 1st class all the time. While the luxury may be nice, I think the more budget minded hotels provide more fun stories about querky accomodations. Like the elevator shoehorned into the stairwell that was just big enough for one person and their suitcase (two suitcases would have required another trip). Or the shower that was so small that when you dropped the soap, you had to step out of the shower to pick it up. And shimmying sideways past the sink and the toilet to get to the shower. Or having to close the inward swinging window to walk down the side of the bed. Then there was the spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower from the window. All this entertainment for the price of a room!

While it's outside current reality, I still haven't given up on getting a home in my dream area. It's a planned lake community, with an awesome elementary school and gorgeous clubhouse and amenities. I figure if I save for the next five years, I can get a small starter home I'd be happy to remain in until retirement.

I have a cook (C), but I absolutely will pay the money for a housekeeper. I always promised myself I'd get one when I hit 6 figures, but I think I may break down and at least hire a maid to come in 2x/month soon- and by soon I mean that may be the Christmas gift that C and I get ourselves. Just someone to come in and really clean the bathroom and vacuum, mop the kitchen floor, etc.
So yeah, I have every intention of paying for that. And it will be worth it.
