To the tune of the Eagles' New Kid in Town:
There's talk on the boards, it sounds so familiar. Great expectations, you’ve done it before.
People you meet, they want to be like you, Even your old pals treat you like you're something new
Forwardwego's here Back for a race. Everybody loves her She’ll keep up the pace.
She looks at her charts, the music begins to play She’s got it handled, here we go again. And in a short while, she’s on her amazing way, It's those focused minds that always win.
Oh, forwardwego now. You’ve won it again. Will you be back here To tell how you’ve been?
There's so many things now, that you can tell us, ‘Cuz day after day, your race has been foremost, focused, Debt in the dust!
There's talk on the boards, It's there to remind us Does it really matter which way you pay? You're leaving the Racers, we’re wishing you’d stay, We will never forget you, as others will follow your way.
Where are you going? We’ll keep you in mind. Forwardwego’s done, She’s one of a kind!
Bye, bye, forwardwego, There’s another new zero here. Ooh, ooh, Everybody's talking 'bout The new zero here. There’s a new zero here!

Looks like I need to take my Buster-kitty to the vet. I noticed that his stomach was unusually not soft this weekend and it took me a day or so to put two and two together that my cat, who licks EVERYTHING, probably has a stomach full of carpet fuzz and goodness knows what else. I wouldn't be surprised to find a license plate from the Great Barrier Reef in there.
So...happy vibes that he'll be fine and additional happy vibes that it doesn't cost too much.

Well, the initial deposit/estimate for diagnosing procedures was $1850 but not all of them were done so I got a $500 refund. In any case, he has abdominal cancer. At 16 years young, I'm not going to pursue any treatment. I will keep an eye on him for masking of distress and then go from there. When the day comes, I'll take Shivers with me so that she will know he's gone when he's gone.
Edited to add: I put it on the 2nd card and, thankfully, will still be able to pay that whole balance off with this week's paycheck.

My mortgage loan officer called me today, to discuss refinancing. He's trying to lock me into 2.25% and I'm not gonna argue since I'm currently sitting at a 3.5%. I'll also be trying to pay OOP for closing costs so that they don't get rolled in and reset the balance back to what I paid six months ago. In any case, my payment will go from $652 to somewhere in the high $500s.

The mortgage payment and vehicle payment cleared. Granted, I'm not racing my mortgage but it's still a welcome sight to see it decrease each month. The cool thing about this upcoming refinance is I'll have at least one month that I won't have a mortgage payment. Always a plus. In other news, I received a random check from the US Treasury for $35. I feel like I received something similar last year and, like this year, I have no idea why. Maybe I overpaid something. Who knows? In any case, it's $35 that I wasn't expecting, that I can put to good use.

posting a couple days early, so I don't forget. the 1st wk/mo payments have all landed. things are moving back in the right direction, woo hoo! I'm about $700 below last month's total. re: ESPP. I looked into how the purchase/sale/payout details will go, and it is a bit different than what I remember from last time. I don't think I'm signing up for the next session. basically, I'll have shares deposited into my account and it will take a couple weeks to post (which means I'm taking an interest hit for April on those Citi cards ) and then I'll have to decide whether to sell or keep at that point. I remember being able to declare "Next Day Sale" and having all the tax info get rolled into my W2. so I made things more complicated for myself tax-wise, with a not that great ROI. great. I'll take the next 6mo period to keep the $625/paycheck (before taxes) to pay off stuff as I go and cover projects in the spring like the outdoor shower and bedroom sliding door. forward progress! also - I'm adding a notation for accounts to be closed, as I figure that out. I'd like to keep one Discover and the American Express, for their excellent customer service. I think my concert habit needs me to keep a Citi for early ticket access, once it's safe to go back to shows again. I need to compare the perks between the two Discovers, and I need to call to ask about the interest rates between the Citi cards. the perks are way better on the one with the higher rate/limit. that's weird. creditor | start | 12/11 | interest rate | Citi #1 | $12,826.10 | $10,228.29 | 0.99/23.49, resets 4/21 | Citi #2 | $4,394.29 | $4,381.36 | 0.00/11.49, resets 4/21 | Discover #1 | $16,553.65 | $18,369.37 | 6.99/12.99, resets 1/22 | Discover #2 | $14,278.26 | $5756.59

How much will you be able to pay off with the ESPP money chiver78 ? Citi #1 with the discount only(which isn't small fries!). if stock prices go up a lot from lock-in, I'll get more back. the limit for buy-in was $7500/6mo. I haven't looked into lock-in vs current pricing, I figured I could opt for next day sale and just get the cash out.

That's a nice chunk chiver78 ! IMO you're right to get the cash out. I look forward to seeing that update! And hopefully you'll knock out a few smaller cards (or another big one!) with your bonus! And I think it's a great idea to close some of the cards. You just bought a new house, and paid off your car. You don't need them all anymore.

I don't mean to flip flop but I just used half my savings to make extra payments on my mortgage and my truck. I don't get paid in July so I am hoping to keep these in the bag for the summer.

sealy remember that you won't technically "own" your house 100% until you completely pay off the mortgage. Being able to make extra payments is fantastic! But maybe you'd be better off making them on the truck, since you owe much less on that? Or keeping the extra mortgage payment for the summer when you earn less? Dunno, just a thought. :-) PS Or maybe you're now one month ahead on both, in which case my apologies if I've misunderstood.

debthaven I now owe less than 10K. I will work on paying off my truck. I needed to have an extra payment for summer. Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it.

Great updates nikiz628 ! Is there any way you could either transfer the balance of the Capital One Quicksilver card, or renegotiate the interest rate?
