Called IPL this morning. They combined the bills for both addresses into one bill which just posted on Friday. I was finally able to make an online account to see the details and scheduled the payment for tomorrow. That apartment and its appliances were definitely an energy-suck. With the crappy a/c always running, having to run each spin cycle twice, and each load twice in the dryer, it's no wonder my bill at the apartment was higher. So, now, waiting for that payment to go out and still waiting for the termination check to clear. Glad you finally got that straightened out.

Yeah, it took extra long because the apartment was Jun 21 to Jul 22 and the house was Jul 7 to Aug 7. Smh.

With the move, my CC has crept up passed $3000 again. Between the flooring, the vehicle registration renewal, vehicle servicing, the actual Uhaul, and Sirius annual renewal, that was $1700 of that. The rest was normal, day-to-day stuff in June, July and current month.
I'm trying to decide, though, if I should pay it off or if I should just focus on paying off the student loans before they get into turmoil with the contract changeovers this winter. SLs are currently at $5200.

Looks like the VA appraiser has screwed up us making our scheduled closing sale date of the 17th. Hopefully it will still happen next week.

fingers crossed for you, swordguy! this morning has been productive! I set up payments to pay off both the last of the lingering Discover balance as well as the other Discover balance from Amazon purchases. I also logged in to all my accounts to update balances in my racing spreadsheet to include the new interest charges after the billing cycles closed. I found a surprise - the Citi card that's currently at $0 has a promo for purchases til next spring, 0% interest. huh. well, I activated that, and will be swapping that in for the Chase card I thought I'd be using for day-to-day for now. on the off chance that I do carry a balance one month, 0% is way better than the 16.49% Chase wants. next up to snowball is the remaining Citi card - currently at a promotional 0.99%, but will reset to 23.49% in April. that definitely needs to go. $12.8k right now.

I went ahead and scheduled another $500 payment to the SLs. That'll put their total right around $4750 when it finally goes through. One is $2283 and the other is $2965 and Nelnet appears to apply payments proportionately to the total balance. I have $1500+ on the budget for them next month but that can always be adjusted if needed.
I'll post my update soon. This month is 13 years that I've been a WIRR.

movinonup - What’s the tentative completion date for all the construction? I'm hoping for the end of September. Electrical and plumbing inspections are scheduled for next week. Then they do the framing inspection and we can insulate and seal up the walls. Fingers crossed. -movinonup

Hi ladies, I hope I can join in the challenge. I thought this year would be the year I got my stuff together but instead I dug myself further into debt. I hope that with the motivation from this thread will help me get and gear and get this stuff paid off, below is a list of the things I hope to race: CC#1 Current Balance | CC#2 | CC#3 | LADWP | CC#4 | CC#5 | CC#6 | T-Mobile | Sister | $221.00 | $356.28 | $587.42 | $1,160.98 | $1,250.41 | $1,410.81 | $1,951.06 | $720.00 | $600.00 |
|
|
|
|
| | | | | | | | | |
| | | |
This brings me to a total of $8,036.96 08/14/2020.CC#6 has a 0% interest rate and it has to be paid off by February of 2022 LADWP is on a payment plan and will be paid by February of next year. I'd like to pay off the three small credit card by the end of the year, as well as the loan from my sister. Wish me luck fellow racers! I hope I did this right.

Buyer's agent says the buyer's loan is ready to go, we just need the sign-off from the VA inspector. Crossing my fingers he hasn't gone on vacation for 3 weeks and is in a good mood when he comes back.

I've vented about it before but why does Nelnet take so long to process a payment?? You'd think I wrote them a check when, really, it's just 1s and 0s being transferred!! It's because they take so long that I made the last payment on Friday morning. If I had "scheduled" it for today, it would be much later in the week that it processes, if it even clears this week. Yeah, First World Problems, I know.

I don't play this 0% interest game well at all. I know I should just be paying the minimums since I have a year to pay it off, but it just drives me nuts having it out there. MPL 1/20/2020 - $8,057 MPL 2/6/20 - $6,057 MPL 2/25/20 - $4500 MPL 3/18/20 - $4000 MPL 4/21/20 - $3500 MPL 5/18/20 - $2300 MPL 6/19/20 - $1800 MPL 7/21/20 - $2422 ($1122 laptop added to debt) MPL 8/17/20 - $1822

I got some great news during a chat with my boss this am, apparently I don't lose the stock bonus with the reorganization that cost me a manager title. he said that according to Workday (our HR system) that it says I'm still eligible, that it must be a grandfathered perk because the title change wasn't a demotion. he's going to confirm that for me, but it's most likely correct. that's pretty sweet!
this came up as a question because I had asked about how I was classified b/c we are now able to sign up for ESPP as of today, and the discounts offered on the stocks would depend on your stocks eligibility. for those who get the stock bonus, your ESPP discount is 10%. if you aren't eligible, it's a 20% discount. that's a new wrinkle for me, my previous experience with ESPP programs it was just a 15% discount for everyone. so there's another way I'll be increasing my income/payoff potential - taking whatever cash comes in as a return and sending it to a CC. I need to look into the details a little closer, but I'm definitely signing up. I was able to finally pay off my student loans a few years early as a result of what I was getting from ESPP and stocks at my first job. kind of a no-brainer.

I click the final pay it button, and my balance was instantly reduced.

Closing on old home now scheduled for 5pm on Friday. So close! We should get our check on Mon or Tuesday, and about 2 weeks from then the money will be available for paying down the new mortgage. Plus we have about $7k in escrow that will be freed up that will show up eventually. Plus as of 5pm the old mortgage will be paid off too!

Minnesotagirl7 I have given up on my goals. Between Covid (fear of job loss so hoarding cash) and needing to fund HSA (hit my deductible) I had to reduce the extra I was paying on debt. Oh well still employed and slowly adding a little extra to the minimum payments.

Oh well still employed and slowly adding a little extra to the minimum payments. In times like these I don't blame folks for wanting to hold some extra cash. If you stay employed that cash will still be there when good times return and you can pay off a lot of debt all at once. Best of luck!

This morning, I used the "How I Spend" tool on USAA for Jun 28-Aug 20. I was curious what my numbers were 1) because of the move and 2) first boyfriend in 15 years. This is how it all came out: Home Improvement $1108 ($950 for new flooring, $50 for pet odor neutralizer for when they pulled up the carpet and exposed the concrete, rest was misc) Groceries $852 (Kroger, Imperfect Foods mostly) Clothing/Shoes $841 (bought new casual sandals and shoes that I definitely needed since mine were gross, bought a new bra, had a Fix from Stitch Fix and bought all pieces (first Fix since January) but nothing was *needed*) Restaurants/Dining $672 (eating out was a rare event--even in normal times--until the new boyfriend; this is a definite area to attack) Automotive Expenses $560 (Indiana registration renewal, drivers license, oil change, and annual sirius subscription) Gifts $414 (bought a friend new bras and a cup-sized bathing suit, my last gift like this, to her, was in Oct 2018 so I don't anticipate repeats for another two years) General Merchandise $364 (Misc stuff) That's everything over $200 in a category for, roughly, an eight week period. There are four categories with less than $200 and two with less than $100 spent. I don't anticipate any more large Home Improvement expenses and my plan is to hold off as long as possible on those. All my summer shoes from the past couple years have now been replaced and my winter shoes are still in great shape so I don't anticipate any expense there. I know I'll still eat out but I need to be more deliberate there. Part of it was that my kitchen wasn't fully unpacked but the other part is that it's just easier to go out when you're already out and about. lol. The car is doing fine--it's a 2018, it better not need anything--so no more anticipated expenses there. Hell, I didn't anticipate the registration because every other state I've had vehicles in, they were due a year after the initial registration not on some month set by my last name letter. I'll be paying just a few hundred $$ a month to this card until I pay off the SLs. If I knew there would be no turmoil when those contracts get swapped over, I'd pay the SLs their normal, small payments but I don't want to have to deal with all the changeover so I'm just going to get rid of them as fast as I can. Cool! I knew July and August would be expensive. I just underestimated how much when I first started looking for a house back in May. Who'da thunk I'd find a companion, too?

You have realigned your goals to focus more on savings than paydown - it's not like you went from paydown to spending!
