Who has theirs all done?
I'm working on mine but I am also digging some things up and dividing. Like today I dug up 2 groups of orange Asian lilies. They were too tall for where I had them so they are going to go into a different bed that has LOTS of space. I planted 2 bulbs in each hole 2 yrs. ago and must have gotten 50-100 bulbs out of each hole today....of various sizes, some very tiny and some huge.
I am also working on my fall/winter garden since we grow the cool weather crops now. I have carrots, 2 kinds of lettuce, radishes, onions and spinach up. I found some really nice romaine lettuce plants at Lowes the other day & planted them too. Next week I hope to put my cabbage & broccoli starts in the ground and plant English peas. Then I will still have some onions to plant. I have 6 varieties of onions started from seed in my garden house, but those won't go out until some time in Nov. down here.
Can you tell I LIKE onions? Last year I had over 500 planted but none of them did that well due to our crazy spring weather....warm/cold, warm/cold, warm, cold and finally warm. It made nearly all of the put up seed pod stems...which even if you cut them off will slow down the bulb production and make them rot faster. So I'm hoping we have better weather this growing season! And I won't have 500 again either!

We're having 2 Japanese maple trees planted in the back yard. The hoses are disconnected and in the garage, and the lawn has been mowed for the last time. We may need to cut back a couple of flowering shrubs, but other than that, we are done.

My landlord's "handy man" must have gotten a new chainsaw, my yard is looking a bit bare. I think he may hate trees. Cut a large branch off one of the oaks that wasn't in anyone's way, cut the tops completely off a couple of smaller trees by the front porch, cut the poor Camellia that would have been blooming soon down to sticks. He did do some useful stuff too but I think he went a bit crazy in those instances. I have a lot of leaves & pine straw to clean up now that he's gone.

Our tree out front has just begun to shed, so DH hasn't started raking. Haven't bothered looking at the neighbor's aspen trees lately, which usually cause a mess in our driveway. And, the tomatoes and zucchinis are still trying their darnedest to finish growing. DH's peppers, which were supposed to be one color, are remaining a different color. We think they were mislabeled...

We were 96 yesterday and we're forecast for 92 today. (We're still swimming) My tomato plants are still producing like gangbusters ~ and covered with blossoms. Our pepper plants, too. Once their time has passed .... then we'll pull them out and put the tomato cages away. The pinapple sage and euryops and gerbera daisies and mums and azaleas and geraniums are all gloriously abloom, and we just overseeded our lawn with winter rye to complement the summer fescue. (Our grass grows and needs to be mowed year 'round.) I picked up some bulbs to plant ... maybe one I pull out the tomato plants?

I got some done yesterday! I moved 12 iris, dug out 3 big bunches or iris that will NOT get replanted. Pulled out 2 big groups of spent mums (gold) and planted parts of each bunch in empty pots (still had dirt) on the front porch. I planted 9 groups of Asian lilies, some of mine I had divided and some a gal in Tn. sent me. Then I pulled out the last of the tomato plants.
Got more digging & dividing and moving/replanting to do today too!

Need to pick my pumpkins, rake up the pine needle crap from the house next door. Not a pine needle to be seen in her yard but mine is absolutely covered in them!!! And I thought the pine cones last year were bad! Need to work some more on digging up around the stump in my garden that I need to get rid of before it can become a garden. One last mow of the yard to use up the gas in the mower before I get rid of it and maybe mulch that pine needle crap. I also have 100 tulip bulbs to plant but I'm not awake during daylight hours anymore so finding time and inclination is is little harder lately.

We don't do yard cleanup until after Halloween. All those leaves and dead plants are part of the ambience. A couple of times it's snowed and fall yard cleanup happens in the spring.
