Kids, I go out for Boxing Day and this is what I come back to?? J, stop handling your member and put down the stick, m'K? And quit making fun of chopped liver. My people consider it to be one of the four basic Jewish food groups (the other three are chicken soup, pot roast and latkes). Where does the Manuchevitz (sp?) and knishes fit it?

So not true. Chinese food is on that list too.

Nah...we adopted them...the Chinese are actually the 13th Lost Tribe of Israel, which explains our affinity for their food. Knishes are a subset of latkes. All wines come from fruit, which is a part of the produce group, which is found in chicken soup, so walla!

I don't count the bagels and lox, since I'm a NYer, and that's one of the NY food groups

I've consumed my weight in bagels and lox the last couple of days. Well, my weight before the holidays anyway.

Tequila, you probably had it and it was just referred to as Nova salmon, or cured salmon, sor smoked. Though it has to be cold smoked to really be lox I think. It can't look like it's actually been cooked.

Onion bagel, lox, red onion, lettuce, tomato, swiss cheese, and spicy mustard. Perfection!

Onion bagel, cream cheese, lox, red onion, hard-boiled egg and (just a few) capers!

You can a long, thin piece of lox, spread the cream cheese on it, put in a couple of capers, roll it up and then eat it like that (or with a bagel on the side)

I used to eat Lomi Lomi Salmon and Poi bagels in Hawaii. They were to die for! (not sure if I spelled Lomi Lomi right)

Meghan, I go along with all of that except the lox. I ate it as a kid, and cannot face it anymore. Though lox, onions and eggs does not bother me, for some reason; I guess because the pieces are so small. The rest of that sandwich sounds really good. I love a bagel with just a thin slice of onion, ripe tomato and either butter or cream cheese. Heck, that might be just the thing for New Year's morning.

Oddly, I am completely disgusted by the texture of the sushi roll with the salmon and cream cheese. I think with just the sticky rice holding the whole thing toether it's like a big blob of mush. yuck.

I don't like the rolls with cream cheese in them. I think it's a texture thing with the rice as well. Salmon and avocado is creamy deliciousness. Salmon and cream cream is just mushy.

Smoked salmon with chopped egg, red onions, capers... we use to frequent a Jewish Deli for that. It was the best on toast points! Yum!!
