Amazing- so these folks are going to fight the good fight all the way to the end so they can be proud they did everything possible to deny equal rights to their fellow citizens. What a legacy to leave.

What a legacy to leave. they have no perspective whatsoever. just like Virginia and their hideous eugenics laws, these states will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into civilization.

I can't understand why inter-racial marriage was illegal in the first place- was it the churches or the states?
I am going with states. Southern states.... Even if it was "States", not "Churches"... guess who controls the "State"? The voters... Guess who the voters were (in a vast majority) back then: People of Christian belief... so... even if it was "State"... it was still "Church".

TN is better?
I think the history in the south is quite interesting- where the Christians had their slaves attend church- what a complete disconnect.
Of course nothing has changed- they still find support in the Bible for whatever bullshit they want to inflict on other people.

Just wait, Richard-the 6th circuit court of Appeals is about to rule on Tennessee. If it rules against Tennessee, you will see and hear the same thing going on in S.C. And if SCOTUS eventually says Tenn. must begin same-sex marriage, there will still be a ruckus. We will be no different.

You have to remember, in Christianity (like most religions) only the parts you agree with matter. The parts you don't like... well... they (the creators of the Holy Book, in the case of Christianity, the old men that wrote/edited/decided-on-what-to-include-and-what-to-exclude-in the Bible) didn't REALLY mean them.

this is a sort of domino thing.
about a year ago, someone told me that marriage would be legal in all 50 states before the end of the decade, and i thought he was nuts. but now i can see how that might happen. when a district court rules over half a dozen states at a time, that clears a lot of turf quickly.

No doubt- and that is the folly of using religious texts as any basis for laws. Everyone has their own interpretation and what it 'really means'. They will pick and choose whatever backs their personal opinions and ignore the rest. Whether it is preventing gay marriage or beheading infidels- it boils down to some group imposing on another. Separation of church and state was the smartest idea to come from our founders- and it saddens me to see so many that wish to end that.
