Santa can't bring socks and jammies? Hmmm, I may have been doing this wrong... Yeah, Santa brings socks, jammies and underwear every year at our house. Mom sucks. She doesn't buy ANY presents. They're all from Santa.

Older son actually called me on that one year when he was maybe 4 or 5. "How come don't you ever buy me any presents Mom? You know it's Christmas!"

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

I make sure there's something from Mom and Dad under the tree. I also make sure there's something from Santa to Mom and Dad under the tree too - a token gift.

A couple of years ago my son found most of his presents in my closet. I think he was about 6 or 7. I told him I was taking everything back to the store because he shouldn't have been snooping. Amazingly Santa brought gave him the same presents that I took back.
I'm not sure if he actually bought that excuse but he's 9 now and still talks about what he want Santa to bring him. He's a pretty smart kid and may just be trying to keep the gravy train going.

Had friends many years ago with a Jewish/Christian marriage. Each year they had a Hanukah Bush. It worked for them and their kids. They got a marvelous well-rounded religious education.
