...what would you want to be known for and why?
Keep in mind that NOT becoming famous is not an option. The entire world (or a good huge chunk of it) WILL know your name and face for SOMETHING by the end of the month.
So if you're fame-averse you probably want to make sure you're known for something short-term, like heroically saving a child's life.
On the other hand, this is a good opportunity to leave your mark on the world through your creative genius or whatever.

My writing. Most definitely my writing.
BUT- I've been writing most of my life. I still have poems I wrote in grade school and short stories I wrote in high school. So I'd have a hard time saying I became famous over night

I'd probably pick my writing too but I can't be the only one on here who wouldn't be at least a little tempted to become a rock star

I'd want to develop an economic model that would ensure basic human needs are met while ensuring a fair tax system that everyone is happy with.

Or cold fusion...
No, the missing link.

I think " rich and famous" would be key for me because if I get really sick of being famous and not being able to go the grocery store in peace, I'm going to want enough $$$ to disappear quietly somewhere along with shanendoah type friends and certain family.

I'd want to be famous for discovering or inventing a freely available, non-patentable, totally green, carbon-neutral, infinitely sustainable, non-polluting energy source that forever breaks our world-wide dependence on crude oil.

The thought of fame makes me want to vomit. I'll vote that I save a kid's life. Or, if I can be famous without being very recognized (like an author) I'd be OK with writing a bestselling memoir.

I'd want to be famous for FANTASIZING about discovering or inventing a freely available, non-patentable, totally green, carbon-neutral, infinitely sustainable, non-polluting energy source that forever breaks our world-wide dependence on crude oil. There. Fixed it for ya.

If someone is going to become famous for a fantasy, it's going to have to be kinkier than that...

Screenplay
Oh, or kicking a bad person's ass who was assaulting or trying to kidnap someone. Yeah, that would fun and the fame wouldn't last too long.

I feel loved. Firebird wants to run and hide away with me, while I'm in a FB conversation with our mutual friend A. And lots of you keep writing me for advice. Maybe I should become a famous advice columnist....

And now that I have rethought may answer would be COMPLETE CURE FOR CANCER.
