There are alleged threats against the U.S. by this group of barbarians.
Let's say they actually start pulling off these threats by doing what they seem to enjoy the most - bombing reservoirs, shopping malls, schools, power stations, dams, etc., etc.
What will be your position and proposed solution?
Negotiate with them?
Stick your head in the sand and dismiss the incident(s) as minor because you weren't personally impacted?
Be satisfied with greatly increased U.S. security even if it means less personal freedom?
Launch an all out attack on the entire middle east for the purpose of completely annihilating every living thing in that region?
Is there a meaningful alternative/solution to any of those?
What should be done?

What should be done? Outlaw religion... worldwide.
Can it be done? No.
Would it be done if it could be? Probably "no" as well.

I don't believe negotiation will ever work with those who are members of that group.
Just because they murder in the name of "religion" doesn't mean they actually believe. It's just an excuse to be a bully.

A little bit of all of that. Negotiate, ignore, battle, secure.

Behead them bad boys when we catch them, while holding a pig of course! Or feed them their last meal of pork chops or barbecue, they won't get their virgins then! If they are religious as they claim it might deter them. Of course they will get their imgainary virgins. The pork was fed them against their wishes. Why does everyone think if you bomb them with pork fat or throw a pig at them they are somehow cursed? If it is done against their will, then they are not cursed. Same thing for any other religion. As a side note-why waste a good pig.

Another question that has come up pretty frequently in the news here, is what about the people who leave the US, UK, etc to go fight for ISIS...do you let them come back in the country? No, their passports should be flagged and/or deactivated so they cannot go anywhere else like UK or EU. In response to the OP’s question I would say shoot to kill. We have a LOT of states with open or concealed carry laws.

I think that the is in the details here. How is it to be determined that person "x" has "left to fight for ISIS"? Is it only for ISIS or any organization on a "list"? Is it a bureaucratic decision or is a judicial ruling required? Does "fight for" require the firing of a weapon or does, say for example, fixing a vehicle for their use qualify? How about attending a rally or march in their support while overseas? I think there is potential danger for abuse in doing so, but passage of laws that would allow for charges to be filed if they return would be better than banning their return.

I wonder if this pilot now has a price on her head. Oh the insult to the ISIS fighters' manhood! UAE's first female fighter pilot led airstrike against ISISMaj. Mariam Al Mansouri may be ISIS' worst nightmare. The first female fighter pilot in the United Arab Emirates, she led a strike mission this week against the terror group, that country's ambassador to the United States said Thursday. "She is (a) fully qualified, highly trained, combat ready pilot, and she led the mission," Yousef Al Otaiba told MSNBC's "Morning Joe."The UAE has joined the United States and a handful of other Arab nations in conducting airstrikes against ISIS in Syria. Rest of article here: UAE's first female fighter pilot led airstrike against ISIS

If they are religious as they claim it might deter them. it is not against the Koran or the Torah to eat pork if it is all you have to eat. survival is ultimately the goal.

I'm not talking about "potential' threats. I said if they "actually" pull them off what is your position?

i rarely joke.

please list me three examples of successful domestic terrorism against pubic asset targets involving Islamic extremists in the US since 911.
I'm not talking about "potential' threats. I said if they "actually" pull them off what is your position? you're not reading. i already stated my position. it is the same as bills. the most successful approach to dealing with terrorism is not the military one- it is the civilian and judicial one. treat them like criminals. that is, in fact, what they are. treating them like holy warriors is not only NOT justified, it is precisely what they want. caving into their logic is no better than appeasement, imo.

OMG! I'm the one that's not reading? I said, IF THEY ACTUALLY attacked. Likewise I NEVER said or implied WE have been attacked since 911. Nothing like trying to obfuscate things......

yes, your obfuscation is rather annoying. your OP is talking about the US, and what we should do SHOULD we be attacked. i asked a very simple question: how many hard targets have been hit since 911 by radical Islamists in the US?if you think that question is irrelevant, i am baffled as to why. it is, after all, the subject of the discussion.

i specifically asked about hard targets, b2r. the reason i asked is twofold: one) everyone knows about the Boston Marathon, the Ft Hood guy, and the DC Sniper. too easy. two) kent SPECIFICALLY mentioned hard targets in the OP, not soft targets. so, i am doing what the military calls a "threat assessment". part of that, given the pantheon of very real attacks by Islamists, is to assess what they have done to date. i asked a very simple question: what US hard targets have been hit in the last (13) years by radical Islamists?

Ok. I admit I haven't been paying attention to news. Can you just tell me if there is any reason I shouldn't be in London, Romania or Iceland next month?

London is friggen expensive. I think I'm spending more there than the rest of the trip But I'm one and done there I think, see BIL and nephews and London and I've 'done it'... Next time, if there is one, I'll go through Amsterdam. So far just Lava .. Only ash redirects flights I guess! I was thinking more terror threats. Is there a place to check those?

I don't know about a place to check for terror threats, however if you pass through the Schipol airport in Amsterdam just tell the security folks at the second checkpoint that the last place you physically went through your luggage was in Dachau (the concentration camp complex outside of Munich). They will immediately interpet you as having said Dacca (city in Bangladesh) which will entail a considerably longer security check for you before you get to board your plane

Is there a place to check those? yeah, i think there is. well, at least there WAS. the US used to publish a document called "terror threats worldwide". they stopped publishing it under that name (maybe, at all) when it showed that our crazy ass terror war was actually driving terror activity up. that was bad for PR. edit: if you want to expatriate to a country with virtually no terrorist threat, you should consider those nations that mind their own business. a place like Costa Rica, for example, is a really good bet. the fact that they have no standing army is a bonus. i like Malta, Costa Rica, Canada, and Australia all to varying degrees.
