The trained bean-counter in me resents having our language and ideas appropriated and mucked up like that.
For us, a sunk cost is one that has already been incurred (although it may not have been fully recognized yet) and we need to be careful to identify sunk costs when making decisions regarding the future. Failure to realize that the cost has already been incurred can lead to disastrous decisions.

I agree. All of the elements of the decision needs to be weighed out. Donating an old suit does not compare to leaving a long-term relationship.
And I agree with you on having language taken and reassigned meaning.
