But you can't wave my right to protect myself from the government as long as I follow the laws no matter how absurd a notion it is. Where, exactly, did I say anything about wanting to waive your rights? (A wave occurs in the ocean ... or at a sports event) Exactly - your state is not requiring the registration and then providing the info to the entire world

Why get them, if I could just get on the list and save thousands? Kind of like the "burglar alarm" stickers people get instead of the alarms. Maybe we could get a whole bunch of non-owners on similar lists and give the crooks something to think about. you can not buy a gun, ammo or a gun cleaning kit without an FOID card I am not sure what would happen if you went out of state and bought a gun - but if you get caught with a gun in Il and no FOID card - you go to jail

If you've got to come up with some off-the-wall scenario to make your point, you probably don't have much of a point.
privacy might be off the wall to some. but not me. i love freedom. i can handle it. don't need the village(or the idiot that comes with it).
lets change vibrators to hunting knives or sledgehammers. get it now?
tenn, what do open mouths and vibrators have to do with each other?

nice! but just because you don't need the "village" doesn't mean you are alone. family and friends the ones you get to choose to associate with, support . "the village" these days has more and more people that don't behave properly. that i don't want to be a part of. do i have that right still? or must me and mine join the collective?

Whether you "want" or don't "want", you are a part of the collective called human society.

It's not about getting it, or not getting it. It's about your analogy making sense. It didn't. Vibrators are not weapons in the usual sense, and can't be logically compared with weapons. Of course, logic might not be your forte.

They shouldn't be allowed to have the list, because the last people that should know where the guns are is the government.
The founding fathers had great insight but could not foresee the despots who have twisted and convoluted the relatively simple terminology in the Constitution to make it a cumbersome task to legally acquire items that should be readily available to anyone regardless of status. Their fear is well founded.

I do not support this for many reasons. One scenario that is particularly sad is that battered women who got away from their abuser, bought a gun and sought privacy, will no longer have it. Streets addresses and names will be public information.

logic might not be your forte. yes lets talk about about progressives and logic. progressives believe darwin's theory to be the way, no God. (who "created" natural selection? imho God). natural selection is based on the strong and adaptable surviving and thriving. the weak, old, sick and unadaptive perish. yet every progressive policy trys to prop up the weak, sick, old and unadaptive off the backs of the strong and healthy. why is that? are progressives that arrogant to believe that they can go against nature and natures way(supported by progressives)? explain that "logic" to this illogical independent.

Where, exactly, did I say anything about wanting to waive your rights? (A wave occurs in the ocean ... or at a sports event) You indicated here, that you had no issue with the government knowing While this issue and the governments overstep of privacy may not be important to you, they are important to many others. Luckily for us you don't have the ability to decide what should and should not be considered important or to waive anyone else's rights, with violations that you don't take issue with. Don't be so myopic, and feel free to spell check any of my posts when you really don't have a valid point to argue.

Privacy aside, why would the government would want to hand over a list of gun owners to criminals who cannot legally obtain a firearm? This 'ruling' (and again, since when does the executive / law enforcement side get to make 'rulings') is dangerous on many levels.

This 'ruling' (and again, since when does the executive / law enforcement side get to make 'rulings') is dangerous on many levels. I looked for more information on this without success. Therefore I am forced to make an assumption. I would be serious surprised if it was a criminal gang that requested the list be released so that they would have a clearer picture of who they should rob. It makes sense for certain commerical interests to be able to target advertised materials using such a list.

billisonboard, Are you really that slow? It was the AP that requested the list be made public. Once it's public, it's public. Yeah, the advertisers would have access, and so would the crips and the bloods.

The first, I'll give you, is murder by vibrator. A rare occurrance, I'd think! The second example shows no evidence a vibrator was involved. My point still stands. You are correct about the 2nd article...I posted the article based on the link description and deleted it after I read it. But since your question I responded to was " Also, when is the last time you heard of anyone being shot and killed with a vibrator?", I'll have to agree....nobody ever shoots themselves, or anybody else with their vibrators. Now, can we get back to guns?

I live in IL. I happen to agree w/Lisa Madigan on many issues but NOT this one.
I happen to have a FOID card because I HAD to get one to sell off late DH's collection after he passed away. I no longer have any weapons and am a single woman living totally alone. I would not want my name on such a list for every 2 bit criminal to see and try to hit me up for what I actually do NOT own.
