Well it's also getting noticed now.
Really, half of these people are animals. It is their job to be as mean, nasty and tough as they possibly can. Is it really surprising that some of them carry it into their private lives?
I love me some New England Patriots, btw. It's just that it is true that it is a violent sport, especially up on the line. This author did a study and compared the NFL to the population in general and came to the conclusion that the NFL has a lower rate of incident, across all crimes, compared to the general population. fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/the-rate-of-domestic-violence-arrests-among-nfl-players/Someone explain this to me: I usually think of extraordinary as good, but in this case I think it is bad. I am thinking this means 3.3/100,000 for the rate of higher income folks. Comparatively, the NFL rate appears to be about 225/100,000. That would mean that the NFL rate is 100 times that of others in the higher income group vs 1/2 the rate for the overall country. But, it seems like the article would go on to spell that out because that seems really significant to me. So I feel like maybe I am missing something.

My youngest brother & I are in a lifelong spider war. we both HATE them. I am SO buying this pillow for him for Xmas this year! I can totally win this entire year with it. Of course, I'll be on edge all next year waiting to be gotten back. LOL! I hate the darned things! Anything with that many legs just ain't right! My husband was assigned spider duty. Now, there's nobody but me to deal with 'em. Fortunately, I haven't seen any. This house is pretty much bug (and arachnid) free, thankfully. My daughter isn't afraid of them but in my son's home, my daughter-in-law is the spider killer. My son picked up my fear of them, poor guy. I just thought of you, mmhmm, a couple of minutes ago. I saw a big wolf spider in the living room heading toward the door to the backysrd. As I catch and release spiders to the outdoors, I reached down with a piece of paper for the wolf spider to climb onto. Low and behold, about 1,000 baby wolf spiders started climbing off their mom. They all made it outside.

OMG, Tenn, I would have died right there. Itsy-bitsy baby spiders are the reason for my inordinate fear of them. When I was a kid, there was a wolf spider on the dining room table. My mother hit it with a newspaper and little baby spiders flew everywhere - like all over me! I haven't been the same since. I can deal with small ones (I just keep an eye on the basset until I can smoosh it). I can deal with middle-sized ones with a can of spray. The really big ones demand evacuation - mine!

No kidding! Hence, my lifetime terror of all things spider. It took me decades to be able to deal with even the smallest of spiders, or to tolerate a picture of one. Saw one in Indonesia once that literally struck me mute. All I could do was back over the back of the chair, point in the direction of the monster, and backpedal to the other side of the house where I climbed up on the stereo cabinet and backed myself to the wall. Never took my eyes off the thing! I've worked my way to being able to deal with all but the big ones. Personally, I think I deserve some sort of medal. Just don't shape it like a freaking spider!

the ones that freeze me are the translucent green ones. eek!
and steff, I caught the highlights of that press conference. I'm in the crowd that thinks he would have been better off just keeping his mouth shut. he didn't do himself any favors with this afternoon's shtick.

The wolf spider is found throughout the U.S. In fact, it is the state spider of South Carolina. Usually outdoors in the summer-heads indoors during coller weather.

As I told kiddo when he asked me what he said....he just babbled on long enough to make it worse. And the snarky side of me thought the highlight of the entire thing was the heckler they drug out screaming "don't take me to an elevator...don't put me in an elevator". Plus watching Teddy Bruski & Mike Schlereth absolutely rip Goodell apart on whatever ESPN channel I was watching it on was really great. they basically called for his head on a platter & don't respect anything coming out of his mouth. They blasted him & the NFL for not getting it even now.

Tedy Bruschi can do no wrong in the eyes of this Pats fan, and I challenge anyone that hates the Pats to say he doesn't know football. I haven't seen his rips on Goodell, but I'll absolutely look out for video clips.
this country has absolutely fueled the environment that's allowed sports stars to live ugly lives, but it's long past overdue that the major leagues hold their athletes to the "personal conduct" policies.

Fran Tarkenton went on a major rant against Goodell, as well. I'm sure a lot of these players and ex-players are downright embarrassed right now.

Here one for you mmhmm, When I move to Phoenix, I rented a really cheap apartment, It had a terrible cockroach problem which complained daily to the management. one night after work I found a large taranchula in the apartment, showed it to my neighbor, he said aren't you going to kill it. Naaa, maybe it will eat some of the cockroaches. Went to take my shower the taranchula was curled up in the bathroom window. Showering, just had lathered up my hair, leaned over to rinse my hair when something fell on my shoulder. I reached around , touched it, YOU COULD FEEL THE LEGS. AAAHHHH!! Now I'm dancing around the shower, finally get the soap out of my eyes No taranchula, pushed the curtain back there's a large wet tarantula crawling across the floor. Picked it up put it in a palm tree.

If you're going to share your shower with a tarantula, you'd best be sure the tarantula likes your voice before you start serenading!

However, I also don't think it's never OK to put your hands on someone to get their attention. But in my heart of hearts, I think it's fine to slap a woman now and then-- open handed-- when she deserves it. They'd certainly not think twice about slapping a man; and if circumstances were to permit-- my feeling is, turnabout is fair play. But again, for practical reasons it's just not a very good idea-- but there's nothing fundamentally wrong with slapping someone who needs to be slapped. There is some guy on Dr. Phil right now whose wife recorded him hitting her with a paddle because she wouldn't respond back to him, "Yes Sir", when he demanded it. This was the fourth time he had hit her. Apparently he has been charged now with a crime. The man claimed his wife was a narcissist. The man stated he told God to make her stop being a narcissist or he would hit her. Apparentlly God ignored him so he hit his wife. You have to wonder who really is the narcissist here:the wife who refuses to obey her husband or the man who tells God, not asks God, but tells God to do something or he will hit his wife.

You're going to try to repost the fact that I don't think there's anything wrong with slapping a woman (again, not that I'd actually DO it, but I would refrain for pragmatic, not moral, reasons) as many times as you can. Btw- do you have a link to the story you're referencing? A link is required.

I am watching the whole Dr. Phil episode. The guy got kicked out of anger management class because he denied he did anything wrong. A real piece of work this guy is.

No, I'm totally down with people slapping each other. You might want to consider the consequences- like being slapped back, or being arrested in our day and age where everyone has lost their collective minds over things like this-- but in general, if someone needs to be slapped, it should be done. Morally speaking, it could be considered your duty to slap someone under certain circumstances- for the greater good.
