so it's a bad thing that the NFL wants its players to be responsible members of society? uh, sure.

You also confidently predicted Obama would not be reelected in 2012.

AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP, stop pulling politics into this thread. It has nothing to do with "left" vs "right". If you want to discuss the politics associated with the issue, take it to the Politics forum. You won't be asked again. mmhmm, Administrator

Everything is politics. It is not my opinion, or my decision, but my observation. It wasn't me that brought up how men need to be reprogrammed to not be men- that was the solution proposed by some broad who clearly needs to be slapped on ESPN. Now that you have Rice beating his wife, and Peterson beating his child-- just wait, we're going to be into a full-fledged white liberal elite assault on the "culture of violence" in sports, and how it causes war, and perpetuates poverty, and that's when the liberal shakedown of the NFL will begin in earnest. You see, we need "funding", so we can reprogram men. The obvious racial overtones of the whole mess will be ignored because rich, white, liberal elites can say anything they want. This thread is about a man knocking out his fiance/wife. It is about men hitting women. So, paul, you have said in this thread men should not hit/punch women. Yet in the highlighted passage above, you advocate someone slapping/hitting a woman. Is that not hypocritical of you? Or is it acceptable to you to slap a "broad" when you disagree with them.

So......this broad needs to be slapped on tv? So says AgeOfEnlightenmentSCP. Paul does have the opportunity to defend or explain his statement. Whether or not he does is another thing.

If that load of uneducated, moronic, infantile crap in 392 was supposed to get a reaction, it didn't work.
I'm just wondering why she needs to be slapped on ESPN? Why not on ABC? Or CBS? Are you going to the highest viewing numbers?

I think she's an anchor or reporter from ESPN (does she have a name, Paul? or is that just "broad"?) and how dare a woman even be ON a sports network, nevermind have an opinion. did I get that right?

Are you telling me you can no longer hit your wife with a stick as long as it isn't thicker than the width of your thumb?

I want to know if this translates to pauls wife, is it ok for him to hit her? 2. Will there be any time in the future where it will be ok for his son in law to slap his daughter?

If there is any doubt there's a double standard when it comes to who the victim is...Ray Lewis stabbed a guy, Ray Rice hit a woman...both played for the same team. One is a celebrated hero of the NFL, the other got a lifetime ban (even after getting a much smaller punishment when everyone knew what happened, but the video which enraged people specifically because it was a woman created a situation to increase the punishment).
I actually think there's a 2nd double standard, which is whether it was caught on tape or not. If there was a tape of Adrian Peterson beating his kid in the face he probably wouldn't be playing. It's not even about the act, it's about the public relations related to the act...which is largely driven by whether there is a "shocking" video or not (I put shocking in quotes as we already knew what happened, so anyone following the story shouldn't really be shocked by it).
Is there anyone who legitimately thinks that if Ray Rice was assaulted by a guy and in return punched him in the face and knocked him out that there would be near the uproar? People would probably be taunting the guy for being dumb enough to hit someone and then get knocked out. There's not a good argument to be made that there is no double standard...fully realizing that plenty of people will argue the double standard is ok (but won't want to call it a double standard because of the negative connotation).

How many times do I have to say I'd have been just as enraged had it been a man who was hit if the size/strength/conditioning comparison was the same? Don't make up your mind you know what people think without actually reading and digesting what they've said (multiple times) they think.

Sometimes, Gordon Ramsey throws stuff and cusses. "Sometimes"? Have you seen his shows? LOL *for the record, he doesn't throw or cuss at women... he throws or cusses at chefs. If they happen to be female chefs, that's just coincidence, because he equally does it to male chefs when they screw up.
