makes me wonder if our president would be in office is he had agreed to take federal funding and hadn't been able to outstrip his opponents in spending.
i get a little peeved when i watch things like this because it seems like we're being told to not make smarter choices and not to not do business with/invest in corps we disagree with but just to pass more laws.

You don't discuss the politics of other countries beach? Things like the Americans giving those rights to corporations has an international effect. It makes it easier for the corporations to get the same kinds of laws passed in our countries. And the video is an American production.

I guess somewhere in my head I know the PM of Canada is Harper and I think the PM of Great Britain is Cameron. But other than that I only know the crazy dictators names and don't spend any time discussing them. I don't even think about other countries internal politics any more than I spend thinking about other families internal goings on. Truthfully I disagree with giving corporations the rights as if they are individuals. It is going to cause a huge conflict of interest when the huge companies with boat loads of money can buy politician's time and support for what the company wants. The representatives would no longer be representing the people who elected them. All that said other countries need to do what works for them and spend less time worrying about us. I don't mean this personally toward you just in general. ETA I should say that I recently got lost on the INTERNET and ended up on the MSN UK board. I may have colored my thinking permanently.

I have no problems with stripping the lobbying rights of Corporations as long as other organizations are held to that same standard. Also, I don't believe you should be allowed to tax these institutions at that point, either, because then it would be taxation without representation.
