Lordy, if we are going to relate crazy teacher stories well here goes. Our high school principal was arrested for receiving PORN thru the mail (this was in the stone ages). I freaked out cause he lived a couple houses down from me. I wondered if he had been peeping in windows etc. But turns out it was pictures of boys. He was apparently one sick puppy when all the details came out.
His name was "Old Man Douglas" - that's what we called him.

DGF and her kids live in a small town.
I realized this when I was at a 4th of July party, and the kids' science teacher walked in. He was telling the oldest daughter (and by extension, my GF) which boys were the 'good kids', and if so-and-so asks you out, you should take him to prom.
I told my GF they will all be 'good kids' after I talk to them. I'm digging a grave in the backyard, and every boy who comes by to date either daughter will have to lie down in it and ponder the view before they leave the house. I figure if I really don't like a kid, I'll toss a shovelful of dirt onto him while he's lying there to get the message across.

As the parent of two decent, respectful, high school boys, I can assure you that it is the girls around THESE parts who need that talk. Oy vey. I have been at houses of GOOD families while high school parties were being held in finished basements. It does not seem to matter that 6-8 parents are upstairs and periodically wandering through. IF the girls decide that the attire for the night is Victoria Secret bras and skin tight yoga pants, the tops they wore OUT of their homes will come off at the party. My son was so freaked by that he and his buds ran out of the party and all the way to my house. Nothing like strict state athlete conduct rules to keep your college-athlete bound kiddo in check.

Mr and mrs M, and mr and mrs B and mr and mrs C taught at our high school school.
I had several teachers my parents had. Some of them were good. Some were not. The English teacher my father had senior year, who I should have had senior year, cracked up my junior year. He was famous for saying 'There will be no hanging from the chandeliers in this classroom today".., the whole last year he wore the same sweater every day and his hair turned green and he got increasingly disorganized and less lucid ... He had been a very good teacher, just stayed too long.
In other news one of the new, hip and favored math teachers was arrested for dealing pot the year after I graduated.

I didn't have any crazy teachers, except for a few ludicrously pompous college professors, but they were just annoying, not particularly entertaining. However, when I was at DLI (Defense Language Institute) when I was in the Air Force (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth), one of the Chinese teachers there became convinced that "they" were beaming satellite signals into him to control his thoughts, so he lined all of his clothing with aluminum foil and wore a bucket on his head. The MPs were eventually able to persuade him not to wear the bucket while he was driving. I was taking Russian at the time on the other side of the Presidio, so I missed all the fun.

Omg, DD1 is there right now, taking Chinese! She is done on 9/11.

I hope it turns out as well for her as it did for me. Learning Russian in the Air Force led to a great career that included learning Chinese 20 years later.

Hey, DD1 just called! She passed, top of her class, she'll be coming home for a bit (in time for her birthday and a family celebration) before heading to Hawaii. Pretty nice. Of course, her grades weren't quite as high as she wanted. DS4 and I were ROFL when we heard this, of course best in class wasn't good enough for her.

I don't remember any teachers from high school to be honest. My son just asked me who my favorite teacher in middle school was... I have no idea. I was a dancer and my dance teacher was probably the most influential person in my life. We reconnected a few years ago on FB and we met up a couple of years ago. Her MIL lives about a mile away from me and this is on the opposite coast of where I grew up. What are the odds? That's because all old people wind up living the desert. Don't you know that by now?
