IMHO: I can see OWNERS having access/privaleges renters do not. m I can landscape my house anyway I wish but if I rented it out that would NOT be allowed. Same for hanging pictures, doing closet organizers, puting in screwed to the wall shelves........... Spoken like someone that has never lived under the tyranny of a Florida HOA, lol!

Owners and renters don't mix well? What does that mean? I have a couple friends that rent out houses- in nice neighborhoods- and no way you would know who was owning or renting unless you asked them.
Now if you are talking slum lords that's another story- they will rent shit to anyone. They might be owners but they are worse than the renters in a lot of cases. Nothing like having a few assholes in a neighborhood buy up some houses and convert them to duplexes- just as bad as the assholes that will tear down a house and build one that barely fits on the lot. I despise both. Section 8 tenants are not renters. The government is the tenant, they're just allowed to live there. And they aren't good house guests.

Amen. I'm not living or buying anywhere that lets them in and you can bet this reduced rent business is some kind of govt program. People don't appreciate anything they get for free and they just whine for more. While destroying what they've already been given.

People don't appreciate anything they get for free and they just whine for more. While destroying what they've already been given. It's amazingly predictable, too. Spoiled adults are no different than spoiled children. I am not for welfare AT ALL, I'm for voluntarism- charity. If people want to voluntarily support crack whores and instead of sterilizing them, want to pay them to have more children- they can have at it. It's their money. Just don't ask ME for money to do it. However, since we have welfare- it ought to be workfare. If you cannot or will not get a job-- we have work to be done. We already cannot afford public works salaries, benefits, and pensions and that's coming to a head now in many places. Why not have people on welfare mowing the grass and painting curbs and fire hydrants? Teach them to show up-- which as Woody Allen quipped is 80% of success-- somewhere for 8 hours of work.

Got it in 1 Paul. I was born in Chicago & have lived in the metro Chicago all my 68 years. Growing up we ALWAYS lived in apartments. DH & I lived in an apartment for 3 years. Owned 2 homes since 1973 - one for 3 yr & the other since 1976.
My parents DID buy a condo after i was grown, married 7 gone. I did learn quite a bit vicariously about what I would insist on knowing IF I ever make that kind of move.

Born and raised in Brookfield. Wife's from Hinsdale. Got married at Christ Church of Oak Brook. Ended up out in Naperville for awhile- finally got the hell out of dodge in 2010. Honestly thought we'd like south Florida better- still have a house down there. Came up here to Cocoa Beach in 2012 and we love it. The Banana River / Indian River Lagoon / Atlantic Ocean geography is great if you love to fish- which I do. We're an hour from Disney- still have young kids; and we can watch Rockets go up from Kennedy from our front yard. We don't pay as much in property taxes down here on BOTH properties as we did for one in Chicagoland. And of course, we're not missing the IL State Income Tax, and the myriad other taxes in IL. Even my cell phone bill went down when we moved- just due to lower taxes.

Too hard (and expensive) if I move away.
I don't go into the city at all any more. Parking is OUTRAGOUS and the REQUIRED fare card for public transportation is also $$ for rare use and a PITA to monitor. So, I am NOT going to MANY concerts, plays, stores & restaurants.
