What make is it, how long have you had it?
I'm on a roll these days. The elements and oven don't work on my stove now. At first I thought it was an electrical problem. Not that though...whew!!! I have the appliance guy coming tomorrow but he doesn't seem to have much faith.

Mine is about 4 years old. It is a GE Café line that is dual fuel. Gas cooktop, electric oven. I have 2 oven with it, the smaller one is under the big one and will heat to 400 degrees...I've used it once. I also have the matching GE Café: dishwasher, microwave & fridge.
The cost of the stove was $2500 US

LOL I'm not enough of a cook to make that kind of investment in a stove.

New when we built the house in 2005. Electric, black glass top, stainless steel, 4 burners, matches the other appliances. I love it!

I'm not either Later....all I want is a kitchen that looks great. In other words, my kitchen is for lookin' not cookin'.
However, with the ice storms we have here and power outages that can go for 2 weeks because of the storms, having the gas cooktop at least allows me to fix something decent for us to eat.
on edit: It also means that we don't have to start the generator for every little thing we want...like hot coffee or tea.

Our appliances are about 8 years old and all Jenn Aire. None have required any work and have performed their duties well.

Not sure how old mine are. Probably around 8 years old and they are GE Profile. When I opened up the top of my glass top electric to find it covered in mouse poop I immediately went online and started shopping for a new stove. It didn't take me long to figure out that cleaning the stove and not worrying about it was much better than dropping $1500 for a similar stove.

Jenn Air combination stove and oven (gas). Almost 11 years old. We got it because it was the one model that met all our needs and that fit in the space we had for it. At the time we were not in the mood (and did not have the money) to remodel the kitchen to make space for something else.
At the risk of sounding like an old fogey, it is far too high tech for me. Because it is controlled by a computer chip, when one part of it goes wrong or misfires, the entire unit conks out and starts beeping for attention with a distressingly loud, high pitch. Every time there is a hiccup in the gas line, it goes nuts on us. At least with other stoves I had in the past, if the oven went out the stovetop burners still worked and vice versa.
When I finally get around to rehabbing my kitchen, the cooktop and the oven will be two separate units!

My Whirlpool appliances are 14 years old, & working pretty well. Except for the dishwasher, which has an attitude at times.

Mine's a Kenmore glass-top. It's about 6 mo's old and I'm soooo happy with it.
My previous stove was a GE - with coil stove-top elements, and a heating coil in the oven for baking, as well as one for broiling.
The oven heating coil fried-out one day on the GE when I was preheating to bake, so it was more economical to replace the entire stove (which was about 8 yrs old, than have it repaired (parts & service/labor). Plus this new one was on sale.
I won't go back to a stove with coil elements again. The elements on the glass-top heat up almost instantaneously, and keep a steady, even temperature - and you have a smooth, flat cooking surface. The coil elements never did sit perfectly flat.
Even the oven in this one is better - there's only a visible heating coil at the top for broiling. The heating element for the main oven chamber is hidden below the base of the oven walls. Also a much more even heat in the oven for roasting/baking than the GE with the coil element had.
The glass-top is also a snap to keep clean - as is the oven.

I have no idea. It was here when we moved in way back in 2003. It has a black glass top.

My appliances in my kitchen are 9 years old. Ice maker on Fridge (kenmore) works but does not dispense through the door anymore. DH fixed it (20 part) and it worked for a couple days and now it is not working again.
Stove is a (Kenmore) Gas stove top with a gas convection oven. It was the most expensive of my appliances, but not sure how much it was. We rarely use the convection part.
I have a dishwasher, and a built in Micorwave.
I have appliances in my basement too (Full Kitchen in Basement). They are about 1.5 years old.
Refrigerator is Samsung(love it). DW is GE (have never used it). Built in Microwave is a Kenmore Black friday special (DD uses for micro popcorn and lean cuisines) and the Stove is a GE with sealed burners (Gas) and a flat top with a 5th burner it was about $900-1000.

PS. There was recently an article on MSN about how long you could expect your appliances to last.
If I remember correctly the DW was 9-10 years. I am indifferent to my DW but I don't particularly want to spend $$ on a new one so hope it lasts a few more years.
Refrig was 12 (hate my Side by Side remeber thinking I need to put up with it for a few more years).
My issue is that my appliances are black and I am anal enough to think my appliances should match. So I figure I will hope and pray for a few more years and then replace them all.

<GASP> Your appliances don't match? How can you live with yourself What kind of a consumer are you that you haven't dealt with that situation yet? It's right up there with having popcorn ceilings and laminate in the kitchen, and carpeting throughout the house.
Have you learned nothing from HGTV?

All of our kitchen appliances except for the dishwasher are original which would make them 14 years old. The stove is a Thermadore and the dishwasher is a Bosch; everything else is GE. Our washer and dryer are 13 years old and made by Maytag.
My mom has a GE stovetop that will be 50 years old this fall. Her double oven is also 50 years old. Interestingly enough, they are stainless steel.

Beats me. They're original to the house I think, so about 20 years old. Stacked electric ovens and a separate four burner gas cook top thing in the counter next to them.

I don't know how old it is bc it was picked up on freecycle. Someone was remodeling the kitchen and black stove wasn't a match. It's just a cook top, I have a wall oven.
The one that we replaced was over 20 yrs old and by the time we replaced it - it barely worked.
We were going to buy a new induction cooktop, but my cheapness couldn't handle $3K stove.
I have to say, though, I am terrified of buying new appliance.
My parents replaced their stove, fridge and washer/dryer a few years ago. Already stove and fridge had issues. The ones they had before were 25+ yrs old.
I never saw a need for appliance warranties before but now wouldn't even think buying an appliance without one

Have you learned nothing from HGTV? Is it bad that I have every one of those things? Well actually it's vinyl in the kitchen, the rest of the upstairs is laminate. I should probably be embarrassed. Anyway, good news!! My stove is fine. It had to do with the power going off and on so many times with checking fuses so we had to do a reset thingy. It works great now and cost me nothing to fix but some time and being pleasant to an electrician and appliance guy.

My first stove was Avocado green as was my refrigerator. I don't recall if I had a dishwasher in our first house or not. My bathtub, toilet & bathroom sink was also avocado green. We built it in 1970, it was 900 sq tri-level. Total price $21K and we had a single car garage.

Ack BG!! Those were the colors in the last apartment that DH & I lived in. To this day, I am SO sick of the color green that I don't want it anywhere inside my house!

EEK and BLECH!! I got married in the '70's and I think EVERYONE was hooked on Avocado Green! then. Almost all wedding/shower gifts I/we got (coffee perc, electric kettle, blender, mixer, etc were that puke-green color.
Thank goodness I could exchange them for the only other color in small appliances at the time - which was Harvest Gold - which wasn't much of an improvement, but didn't make me nauseous.
Thank goodness, our major appliances at the time (fridge, stove, d/w) were white. I would have never been able to cook (or eat in an avocado green kitchen).
And even double BLECH if the bathroom fixtures had been that disgusting color too.
When we built our first house, all bathroom fixtures were white.
My parents' house had a green toilet & tub in the bathroom, but theirs were more an "aquamarine color) - but there home was also built in the early 50's.
Even they replaced those fixtures with more subtle colors in the 80's.
Our last home, we had Almond colored appliances in the kitchen, and almond colored bathroom fixtures in the 2 1/2 baths - most of our color scheme in that home was neutral/natural shades.

Ours is 3 months old and is a Frigidaire. It was like $500. We replaced the old one (20 years) when DH came into the living room holding the oven door in his hand... he had grabbed it to clean the inside and it fell off. Several burners weren't working on the stove and it was ugly so we just went out and got a new one....

Not sure about your particular range, but the 5th element on mine is a warming element - used to keep already fully-cooked foods warm while others are still in the process of finishing cooking.

My stove also has the burner in the middle, and it came with a small griddle. When I read the reviews on the one we bought, almost everyone said it was a waste of time trying to use it. It would never get hot enough to do anything.
They were right....the griddle that came with it is somewhere around here. I still use my big All Clad griddle with the handles, and use the 2 burners on the left....that gets the job done.
However, the stove looks cool doesn't it?

That is he word I was looking for: griddle! Yes we did not get the griddle that would come with the stove because it would be cheaper to just buy our own. The stove does look cool but the appeal was the 5th burner: too bad it is useless
