Of all the stores to go to this morning, my first stop was K-mart!!! They had the only slow cooker/crock pot that I had found that actually had a 5 star rating, so for $29 I bought it. While there picked up a Visa card for DIL and PF Changs gift card for son.
Took off a little later for Belks, bought a mock turtle, and really nice multi colored sweater and 3 pair of pants, 2 navy and 1 grey. (merry Christmas to me).
Came home and watched Husker football, then lady Huskers basketball.
Whew...what a day .

Took last Wednesday off. Stayed home all day cooking and baking while catching up on some PBS shows that we had DVR'ed. It was such a nice day. Had thanksgiving at our house. It was great. I did all of the cooking and cleaning as the constituency fell asleep right after eating.. Did some deals at CVS Friday morning. Nothing like it used to be. No crowds and all the special ECB items were in stock. I spent $1.16 and got: (2) Dawn Dishwashing liquids (1) Viva paper towel (1) Orbit gum (1) 3-pack of toothbrushes (2) Cans of olives Friday night we all went to see the Sabres play Montreal in Buffalo. Great time. Hit Small Business Saturday and bought (2) items. Should get $20 back from Amex. DD and I went and had manicures. Saturday the whole extended family came to our house to watch football A lot of fun. Sunday after the kids left to go home, I caught up on laundry and ironing. Took a walk and then raked up the pods from the honey locust tree. Wrote up most of the Christmas cards.

Pat I would suggest that you think long and hard about buying rentals in your area. What you saw as far as how tenants live is common in rural areas. That is the pool of tenants that you'll be dealing with.

Slept in. Finally got out of my pajamas late afternoon. Went grocery shopping, put the new license plate sticker on my car as the old one expires at the end of the month. Started some laundry, cleaned the cat boxes. Researched how to fix my old washing machine. I think I know what it needs and think I can do it, but the part is over $250 and it doesn't appear it's readily available. May just limp along and get a new washer and dryer if this one finally dies completely.

Have all the Christmas presents that I bought, wrapped and tagged. Have been re-using many of the gift bags that we've received over the years. On some of them I didn't even have to change the tag. Will cut our tree from our "christmas tree" acreage hopefully on Friday. Haven't felt the desire to put all the Christmas decorations out. Will add a garland to the fireplace mantel in the living room and maybe a few things in the dining room. Had baked some breads and froze them. Will use one for the work Christmas luncheon coming up next week. We've finally finished the leftovers. The turkey soup was good. Sold a few small things on e-bay and shipped them out. Got a better quote on car insurance and hope to save almost $500 this year... Being out in the stores got the better of me and I got myself a grey silk blend turtleneck and a cute thermal casual shirt. Went to a sample sale that a friend had and bought some alpaca socks and hat at wholesale price....nice and soft and warm. Beautiful view overlooking Canandaigua Lake(Finger Lakes). Stopped after work and got the oil changed and tail light bulb replaced on my car. Saved a bit as I had purchased the bulbs ahead of time. DH had to snow blow the driveway before we left for work this morning so I was able to vacuum the bedroom and fold and put away the laundry before I left the house.

Pancake breakfast, laundry, lunch out, library for audio book Outlier by Malcom Gladwell. Home to listen to DH's wiring story.
The squatter on our out of state land called to ask for more time. NO.
Sit outside in lovely weather. Watch The Doctors for Word of the Day.
After supper I waited for 30 minutes on the phone to get my ordered clothing exchange done. The preferred pattern was out of stock so I had to pick another. Had DH answered the phone when the company called. I would have been done quickly. I just hope they fit better.
Continuing the audio book. Wishing for a casabubble to play with. Dear Santa. . . .

I was dismissed from the hospital yesterday afternoon, so today was spent refilling my daily drug container and discovering how hard it is to use nothing but my right hand and arm.
The amazing part is how good I feel as compared to the past months. It feels like the sadness and depression is gone, along with the short tempered shrew who lives with DH. And my energy today seems boundless. I wonder how long it's been that I needed this pacemaker before it actually showed up last weekend.

After my dad got his first pacemaker, he said the same thing. I think the symptoms come on gradually and you don't realize it. Dad went to the doctor because he just hadn't been feeling well. His pulse was 35 and the doctor wanted him to go straight to the hospital for the pacemaker the next morning. Dad refused, saying he had things he had to do first and had it on Monday.
What did he have to do? Mow the lawn, wash the car and go bowling. Crazy man.
Happy to hear that you are filling better. Dad goes for check ups every 6 months. He's on his 3rd battery as he wears them out.

I was told last night at our community meeting by a neighbor, that Medtronic doesn't replace batteries, they install a new pacemaker. He kept his old one as a souvenir. Mine is operating 60% of the time, the neighbor is at 100%. Our builders wife is set at 91%.
Happy to hear your Dad is still doing so well!!!

What I've done today so far:
1. Filled 6 water bottles, ( 5 or 6 bottles a day is what I usually do). 2. Cleaned both litter pans out and took it to the garbage can. 3. Made out 10 Christmas cards and 1 birthday card and took them to the post office. 4. Got groceries and put them away. 5. Made out my menu for the week. 6. Wrote in my 4 journal; Gratitude list, Feelings list, Wish list, Daily journal. 7. Balanced my checkbook. 8. Posted to my on-line budget. 9. Washed, dried, folded, and put away laundry. 10. Made a list of what I want to accomplish in 2015.

Laundry. Changed bedding. Cleaned bathroom. Clipped toenails on all the animals...that's a lot of little feet and toes. Brushed the animals that needed it and pretended to briefly brush the others so they wouldn't get jealous. Changed all the litter boxes. Ordered some $5 magazine subscriptions on Amazon. Next on the list is to start to read another book!

At the gym before breakfast and slammed out a good session. Going in, I looked at the nearly vacant parking lot. When I went inside, here are all these tennis shoes strewn every which way like there should be a full gym. Two people and me. Why all the shoes? The gym and outside shoes are usually taken along when leaving the gym. On leaving, I notice more people. There are also less shoes. Did these peeps come in barefooted? Usual Sunday morning church stuff. GrS1 came over for dinner and we gave him some pork meat to take home. It's time for CSI. The network moved it to the death zone of Sunday night before cancelling it.

Busy weekend with DD and friends home for the Bills vs Packers game.
Friday after work went to exercise class, Wegmans and home to clean. Baked blueberry lemon rolls on Saturday morning. Went to the farm to see my horse and take care of her. Spent the afternoon with DD and friends. Made macaroni and salad for a big dinner for everyone. Sunday helped them get packed and ready to leave for the game. With everyone at the game, cleaned, tidied, did all the dishes and made sure the house was totally in order before leaving for church. Went to church for service and to do the books. Came home and did the ironing and folded DD's things from the dryer. Packed up a box of Christmas things for her to take back to NYC. Brought in wood and kept the fire going. Went back to church for pass the dish supper and children's Christmas program. Came home and relaxed until the refugees came home from the game.

You're right, it might hurt when you go to pick her up. My 15 cat has started to howl a bit from time to time.
I would take her to the vet and get her looked at. 19 is very old. But, as long as she eats and does everything else that's all good.

I'm getting sick, so I was in bed by 9pm last night. I was awake before my alarm went off at 430 this morning. so far today, I have: -first thing this am, I sent a polite but firm note to the two colleagues that owe me input on a project with a tight timeline. it is now 1:15 and the issues still are not resolved. -contacted my RE lawyer about my upcoming house purchase -received fully signed offer paperwork from my realtor and forwarded it to my mortgage broker -planned for tomorrow's home inspection. I picked up a paint palette over lunch today, will bring that with me -called my insurance company to request price change info for my auto insurance, as well as lined up a new homeowner's policy draft for the house -requested vacation time for Jan/Feb to cover my cruise and closing/moving in. still left to do: -make a "well pet check up" appointment for the vet I'll be using once I move south. I pick up my puppy on Monday night, she'll have had just her first round of shots. my sis and I are both off work the week between holidays, so I'll make the appointment for that week. we can do the vet appointment and let the pup and my sis see the house if my realtor's available. the vet is walking distance from the house. -call subscription services for the Boston Globe and bump my subscription suspension out another month until I move. busy day

30 minutes on the XR6000 Octane Fitness bike at the endurance setting. I am upping my time. Yoga. Home, shower, lunch, nap.
I signed up for a free art class tomorrow morning on water colors and invited a friend. I'll have to take lunch along as I have a full schedule. It's about the benefits of art while aging.

I made it past a professional hurdle and suddenly find myself with a ton of free time on my hands, at least until after the first of the year. Not quite sure what to do with myself. I've read several books in the last few days. Need to find a hobby again!

I'm leaving for the cardio dr. apt soon. These staples come out!!! yea! After that probably lunch out, then fill up the SUV with some cheap gas (well as cheap as it can be for premium).
I know what you mean Pat, we haven't seen the sun here in days, that's nothing new but I still can't stand it. It's like living in the PNW except we don't have the rain. I want out, the sooner the better.

My husband and I turned in his payroll form AGAIN trying to get it changed to banks up here. The gal in Saudi Arabia says oh this form is confusing, yeah? You don't say? This is YOUR form lady, the one the company provides and it is confusing? Hubby had to go to the project manager to get it forced through, we hope.
It asks for you to say the amounts you want in up to 3 banks, we have 3 bank accounts from it. Anything left is deposited in the first account after the written in amounts are deposited in the other 2 banks, so as the form explains the first line is to say 100%, that means 100% of everything left and their payroll person doesn't know that. We have tried to get this done for 2 years now. Then you can also designate another account for your expense reimbursements to be deposited in. Lets see if it happens this time. Here we use only canceled checks, in Texas we used cancelled checks and deposit tickets.
Archie are you working in their payroll department? LOL! If we had an Middle Eastern office, I would have sworn it was true.

Zipped through the house to clean. Was at Big Lots for their $1 for a 12 pack of iced tea. The other advertised bottled drink specials were out. I was in the check out line when I spied the tea. No one was in line behind me so I grabbed two. Shopped 2 other places then home and DH is here. That gave me a suck-it-up-buttercup moment because he seldom is home from tennis that early. I actually thought who died. Legitimate because his sister just had a stint put in. Turned out he injured his knee. My usual run in the house, drop stuff off making a mess then leave for elsewhere. Elsewhere was Zumba. New instructor, new routines. Another grocery stop for reduced price butter. On putting it in the freezer I now have over 7 lbs. of butter in the freezer. DH said why didn't you check? I was focused on the bargain. Lunch, shower, nap and off the the matinee of The Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies in 3D with a rip off rental of glasses that had to be returned. A pricey date with DH when adding in the popcorn and pop for him. I won't buy that overpriced stuff. Home, dinner then my cousin from back east called. He's well into his 80s, so I was delighted to hear from him after his health problems last year. The fun task of packing the gym bag for tomorrow. I unpacked an unused gym bag and put things away. Why so many gym bags? Each fitness place needs it's own. I won't take my tennis bag to just a gym and visa versa. It's a shuffle but I can make it work.

At the gym working out before my eyes were open. Will this last at -30 degrees? Who cares, it worked today.
Home to get my jewelry and wait for serving time for the church breakfast brunch before the children's Xmas program. The church was packed. Most people ate afterward.
Home, relax, read newspaper. I was unable to find Annie's mailbox section. Hmmm.
Lunch, nap, read, watch Cross Fit competition for most of the afternoon. Supper and read more. I made a comment in my notes that I thought I would be covered in cobwebs by the time I get this book done. My notes consist of interesting quotes or phrases and words I need to look up. The book is for a book group.
Check out what's happening on the boards.

Arrived in the Sunshine state a few days ago and are now in our beachside condo. Went shopping for a few things today, had lunch out. Traffic was terrible around the outlet mall in St. Augustine.
Temps 82....how can you not love that? Going to TJs Seafood Shack for dinner tomorrow. Now it's time to sit outside and read a book.
Safe travels, Pat.

Worked a half day. Cleaned up the sad remains of the poinsettia one of the dogs shredded in their zeal to get to the UPS guy. Took a long bath, made cookies and am relaxing now. I'm thinking cookies are a perfectly acceptable Christmas eve dinner.

Got up and sent the men of the house out early to the Patriots vs. Bills game (Christmas present). Went back to bed for an hour or so. Got up, let the pup out of his crate, and am now drinking coffee and enjoying a post-Christmas-frenzy quiet morning. @patstab: wishing you safe and "happy trails". Stay in touch, k?

Pat, I have always dreamed of a road trip in a well-equipped motorhome! Enjoy! If I ever go it will be in a rental, could not see us investing in one. DH says he would go on one long trip, but probably not until we are retired.
