I was a bit surprised that there has been no thread relating to the three youths who were kidnapped a week or so ago...they have been found shot to death buried hastily close to where they were kidnapped..it seems on a cell phone call by one of the victems..a whispering voiced reporting they were kidnapped and then some Arabic and then some shots then a disconnect...also a burned out vehickle..the one kidnappers used with empty shell casings inside..so Israelis had suspicians of not a good ending to this...
I expect heavy repercussions against Hamas..who Israel claims is responsible..two kidnappers are known and were active members of Hamas...whether this will weaken Abbas of the PLO is not known..he is taking grief because he condemned the kidnapping and the executions and pledged the PLO security forces to help in finding the perps..Hamas and the PLO just recently signed agreement to be nice to each other [ unity government..}and rule together..USA backed that agreement ...

It's all over my FB with some sick F's supporting the terrorists. Gives Muslims a bad name when that shit starts because then the decent Muslims get on and say its wrong. I'm about to try to figure out how to get all that off my feed.

To expect Israel and it's leadership [ Natanyahu} to go full blown against Hamas in retaliation for the murders of the teenagers might be ones thought but there is a reality here that probably limits their reaction ..the following article gives a good interpretation of the limits that the Israelis will be working under...naturally it can still escalate and all hell breaks out but there are realitys here that both sides seem to understand and try to work under..
america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/6/30/israel-palestinekidnappings.html
==========================================
"All-out war on Hamas is easier said than done, however: Hamas is deeply rooted in Palestinian society, both in Gaza and the West Bank, and the last time Israel went to war in the hope of destroying the organization — the 2008 pummeling of Gaza it called Operation Cast Lead — more than 1,000 Palestinians, many of them civilians, were killed. Not only did Hamas survive intact, but the civilian casualties and ongoing blockade of Gaza drew international criticism and hurt Israel’s diplomatic standing."

My sympathies to the families of those kids! Honestly, you can't even send your kids to school in any country anymore without having to be concerned about some d-bag!

Netanyahu wants to hit them very hard from everything I've heard. Of course the real harm in events like this is that they work to cement and harden the hatred between the two peoples. The Israelis will respond with revenge out of proportion to the three lives tragically lost. P'd off Palestinians will respond with bombs strapped to their chests. And on and on, and so it goes. After a while it becomes a chicken and egg thing, but the lasting scars and emotions are very real. Then finish them off. They're cowards anyway. Then finish them off. They're cowards anyway. Who exactly is "them"? Not going there with you. Your post came directly after one which discussed both Palestinians and Israelis. I was unclear whether it was one, the other, or both you are calling cowards and that you wish for all to be killed.

*cough* One of the three was an American. I appreciate that the distinction is functionally meaningless these days, but I wanted to make it anyway. Naftali Frenkel had American citizenship as well as Israeli.
We've come a long way since Leon Klinghoffer, I suppose.

It really doesn't matter "who started it". It needs to stop.

What do labels matter anyway? With the exception of a small group of nuts- most of us just want to raise our families in a decent part of town and treat others with respect.
This arguing over God bullshit has to end.

You do? I sure don't. Anti-semitism is alive and well. Just couched in more PC terms, even here.

You don't see it because you either don't look for it or it isn't directed at you. It's out there and it's ugly. It's on college campuses and its in churches and businesses.

It was only a matter of time before the shoe was on the other foot....
www.aljazeera.com/news/middleeast/2014/07/palestinian-youth-body-found-amid-tension-2014727956766566.html
Palastinian youth found murdered in Jeruselum Forest...witnesses saw him being forced into a car with three other people...
{I have had a problem cut / pasting from Debka..am trying Al Jazeera }}
debka.com/article/24060/Violent-clashes-in-Jerusalem’s-Palestinian-suburbs-after-Arab-boy-found-dead-Pipe-bombs-thrown
debka.com/article/24060/Violent-clashes-in-Jerusalem’s-Palestinian-suburbs-after-Arab-boy-found-dead-Pipe-bombs-thrown
I believe the Israeli authoritys will be able to find out who were responsible for this crime..it seems they know who did in the Israeli youths....there is no excuse for such actions ....in this case it just weakens Natanyahu in his doings...takes away Israeli higher ground in a way...since there are plenty of hard liners on the Israeli side..settlers definitely..{ those living on the West bank..legally, illegally..} and Israel being a democracy thus public a influence in their government, so many partys...parliamentary style of government so politicians do have to bow in some ways to the pressure..it will be interesting to see how they react against the perps when they are caught..{ They will be caught..}Israel by the way , except for WW2 war crimes .."Eichman.." has no death penalty for those who may not be aware...Assasin of their PM is in Jail..believe the one who went into a Mosque some years ago with a automatic weapon and killed many worshipping Muslems also still in jail I believe..
Zibazinski is correct by the way...while the anti Semitism is not as visable or overt as it was in the past..it is still out there..You don't see signs such as "Restricted " anymore....{ hell one wants anyone to buy their offered property today..}in some areas of the country very visable and overt..today you see it in the expressions against Zionist at times....but also in just every day life...Definitly a improvement ...the discovery of the results of the Holocaust is one reason..the oral historys that have been made...just the openness of today vs the past but definitely it is still there and active...

I'm not Jewish either but I lived in a neighborhood full of Christians except for one Jewish family. My very nice next door neighbor, catholic, referred to her as a Jewish bitch. Now, granted, she was a bitch but not because she was Jewish but just because she was a bitch, period. So I pointed out to her that our other neighbor, who was catholic like her was also a bitch on wheels so should I think ALL Catholics are bitches? Now I'm in a VERY Christian community, as in EXTREMELY, and the anti-semitism is awful. I feel sorry for DF, frankly, and I had someone from this town tell me NOT to change my last name if I married him because then I'd be discriminated against. Very sad.

The satirical British puppet TV show, Spitting Image, branched into music with some success back in the 1980s, scoring a UK #1 with The Chicken Song, a bit of absurdism that presciently observed "although you hate this song, you'll be humming it for weeks." The Double-A side of that single was "I've Never Met A Nice South African (And That's Not Bloody Surprising)" The sentiment, obviously and explicitly racist, was justified in the very right-on Red Wedge era of 1980s British broadcasting because, of course, of apartheid.
When the current Secretary of State likens the situation in Jerusalem to 'apartheid,' that's the same sort of dog-whistle. There is a substantial subpopulation of Americans who are satisfied personally that Israel is an unjust state, maintained by immoral means by essentially evil people. Their righteous opposition to such a state justifies their prejudicial actions and opinions, and while for most of them those actions and opinions are confined to Israel itself, many are quite happy to broaden their condemnation to anything remotely smacking of Zionism here in the US.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Palestinians killed one of their own just to garner sympathy. All over the news with the grieving mother whining away about her precious son. Very little coverage about the funeral for the 3 victims.

Israel was a staunch supporter of South Africa during the Botha era. they even had an arms and testing agreement (i believe there was considerable controversy about this, but at a very "quiet" level). the systems and politics of both nations were considered close during that time. both nations were widely despised, which tightened their bonds. when Israel started building walls, it was a rather easy analogy to make, given that history.

Im not surprised. A minority surrounded by those they fear wish to do them harm after being harmed will do anything to protect themselves.

dj, we've established your bias zur Judenfrage.
It's really not necessary to keep illustrating it.
