Because wars & uprisings/battles based on ethnic or religious groups - and Governments formed & run by those have been going on for over a millenium.
Kidnappings of children or mass killings (can anyone say Hitler?) are usually happening anywhere there's a dictatorship in power.
Kidnappings in most cases in these lands, are carried out to collect ransom to fund purchase of more weaponry. In many cases, the ransom is paid, but the abducted aren't always returned - many get sold (depending on the country) or unwillingly recruited in to their armies.

There is nothing more cowardly than to pick on children. Whoever did this is showing their true stripes. If you have a perceived enemy, you should fight them "like a man", not hide behind innocent children (or women).

In all fairness my previous comment was more of exasperation than expectation for all the people of the world to get along.  And I agree with zibazinski, it IS (and shows) the kind of "people" that they are. |

And I agree with zibazinski, it IS (and shows) the kind of "people" that they are. By this act...who ever did it ..{which particular group...} [It seems the Israeli who are quite good at finding out the particulers of these actions against them and their people ]...according to the following article from Debka...there are many actions being considered that touch on many fronts and sem to possible have many sides working together ...also according to the article , many repercussions have to be and are being considered involving many sides..some surprising , some not so..nothing is simple in the middle east....definitely escalation is one of the considerations all parties have to consider...
Israel because of the small size of the country and the population..while not actually true but in many ways it is so...the phrase of everyone knows everyone else so a action against one seems to be a action against some one else on a personal level...more so then on a country and it's people of the size of say the US of A or other large nations...plus the experience of the second WW and before that against the people ...pograms, , anti semetic attacks in history...the phrase "never again " is more then just a phrase...it is a fact ...What many people do not know or are aware of...during the darkest days if the "Yom Kipper War.." Israel had armed some of their fighters with nuclear war heads and were planning on using them as the Arab armies were moving forward...what stopped their use was the change on the battle field...
