This isn’t going to do much to soften House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s image as a political manipulator. When the Democratic National Committee came up with a resolution to honor her, it wasn’t good enough. Pelosi had her daughter Christine, a political strategist, ask for some additions, and they were approved, Politico reports. First, Pelosi wanted to tack on a citation of her fight against HIV and AIDS, because it was "why she went to Congress," Christine Pelosi told the news service. Nancy Pelosi also wanted a paragraph added to recognize her "accomplishments for equality," singling out the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 and last December’s repeal of "don't ask, don't tell." Finally, Pelosi wanted recognition that she “will continue the fight for America's working families," her daughter said. The changes were approved on a voice vote. © Newsmax. All rights reserved. They should add that she is the person most responsible for the backlash that is currently sweeping the states and the destruction of the public unions. This is going to be her legacy once obamacare is stuck down.

I wonder why News Max could not have found a more flattering/less animated (and taken out of context) picture than which they posted. There are plenty of pleasant appearing pictures of Nancy Pelosi on the Internet.

They wanted an image that reflected her on the inside.

I suppose I could post a piece of dog shit to reflect the insides of some republican and democrat politicians too but then know one would actually recognize which piece of crap politician I was referring to.

At this point and time in history there is little Nancy can do that will add polish to her image. Sorry to say.

When the DNC's Resolutions Committee brought up a resolution commemorating Pelosi's years as speaker of the House, Pelosi's daughter sought to alter the proposal at her mother's behest, adding some of the accomplishments that the elder Pelosi felt the committee had overlooked."I have some friendly amendments," said Christine Pelosi, a political strategist, at the committee's session during the DNC Winter Meeting at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel Thursday afternoon. She is a member of the committee."You think I'm kidding," Christine Pelosi added, to surprised laughter from the room. The proposed changes, she indicated, came out of a discussion with her mother.First, Pelosi wanted to add a mention of her fight against HIV and AIDS, because it was "why she went to Congress." Or how about those dems who lost their House seats in the mid term congressional elections on 02 November and blamed Ms Pelosi for their defeat... BTW I purposedly chose NOT to repost the picture of Nancy Pelosi since I knew it might make some here very ill and ruin their day...

I wonder if the adulations included a reference to her "real" legacy. Remember this? ".........We've got to pass the Obamacare Bill so we can find out what's in it....."
I also wonder how loud the resonance would have been if one of those "other people" had ever made such a remark about a Bill that was so poorly designed and absolutely against the will of the American voters.

Are you getting this? Americans won't be able to truly understand ObamaCare until ObamaCare becomes law! Pardon me, Madam Speaker, but there are a few of us who would like to know what is in this bill BEFORE you pass it. Did that thought ever cross your mind? Do you REALLY think that we, the American people, are going to trust you and the Democrats to create a bill that is in our best interests? I didn't think so. This is why the Democrats want to pass healthcare and they want to pass it ... yesterday. They don't want you to find out what is really in the bill until after it is signed into law. By SIMMI AUJLA | 2/17/11 3:54 PM EST House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on the two-year anniversary of President Barack Obama signing the stimulus package into law that she has no regrets about it, even if the spending measure helped fuel a GOP victory in the House this fall. “We’re very, very proud of it,” she told reporters Thursday. “It was definitely worth it.” Continue Reading Text Size - + reset Listen POLITICO 44 “It created and saved jobs for our country. People from all over the world have been very complimentary. It proved President Obama was an innovator from day one,” she said. “As time goes by people will be more appreciative of it,” she added. Republicans have taken advantage of the two-year anniversary of the signature bill’s passage to remind voters about the legislation’s $787 billion price tag. Lawmakers unleashed a flurry of tweets, statements and speeches Thursday, slamming the package. House Speaker John Boehner and House Minority Leader Eric Cantor both issued statements noting the anniversary and using it to trumpet the difference between Republicans and Democrats. “On the birthday of the stimulus, let’s step back and recognize that Washington does not always know best,” Cantor said. Democrats, though, haven’t marked the occasion. www.politico.com/news/stories/0211/49763.html

A politician who has no regrets doing what she thought was right even though it had negative consequences in the next election. If only we could find more willing to do that, maybe we could solve some problems.

What we're discussing privately and publicly, is a budget which is a blueprint for the future which creates jobs, which educates our children, which provides healthcare for all Americans, which takes our deficit down, which gives a tax cut for 95% of the American people. CBO: Jobs Created and Saved By Stimulus Cost At Minimum An Average of $228,055 Each In a report released Wednesday—“Estimated Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on Employment and Economic Output from October Through December 2010”—the CBO said it now estimates the stimulus law cost a total of $821 billion, up from CBO’s original estimate that the stimulus would cost $787 billion. In the same report, the CBO estimated that in the fourth quarter of 2010 there were somewhere between 1.3 million and 3.5 million people who were then employed who would not have been had the stimulus not been enacted. “CBO estimates,” says the report, “that ARRA’s policies had the following effects in the fourth quarter of calendar year 2010: … Increased the number of people employed by between 1.3 million and 3.5 million.” www.cnsnews.com/news/article/cbo-jobs-created-and-saved-stimulus-costThus, the $821 billion cost of the stimulus divided by the maximum of 3.6 million jobs the CBO believes the stimulus may have saved or created equals an average of $228,055 per job. At the lower end of the CBO’s top job-creating-and-saving estimate for the stimulus—1.4 million jobs—the jobs would cost an average of $586,428 a piece.

"...........500 million..............."
Whew!!!!! I thought it was more than that.
But of course I still don't know what states were left out when Obama said he had campaigned in only 57 of them.

Pelosi, Reid and Obama were quite effective legislatively the last two years and the first two for the last four years. I don't happen to like what they accomplished, but those that supported them and encouraged them in the process do. It seems that they have decided to honor the Speaker for her accomplishments. That should be no surprise to anyone. The subject of this thread however, is about the arrogance of Lady Speaker which led her to attempt to write the resolution to honor her. I'd say that's typical for a liberal. They tend to be so full of themselves that they don't perceive the reaction their actions elicit in normal people [she's OK with other liberals ~ note posts on this thread]. I can understand that she is proud of her accomplishments, however much I may disagree with her, but it is usually considered appropriate to gratefully accept whatever honors others may bestow on her rather than to stroke her own ego with self generated accolades. She's awfully heavy handed for a "lady."

If I don't see her each day, I don't miss her Gee what a thrill, each time I wont kiss her Believe me, Boehner doesn't have a case On Nancy, with the botoxed face
She takes the winter and she makes it summer And summer could take a few lessons from her Picture a tomboy in lace That's Nancy with the wrinkled face
Did you ever heard mission bells ringing Well she'll give you the very same glow When she speaks you wont think it was singing Just hear her say hello
I swear to goodness, you can't resist her Thankfully for you she has no sister No devil could replace Nancy, with the old and tired face
