Great to see that one of the potential mods has a huge issue with an entire group of us here...if he gets voted in will off of his rants towards me and the "desperate housewives" be allowed or tolerated? MT, the best thing to do if you feel you're being targeted, or insulted, or demeaned, is to use the Report Post function. The mods just can't possibly see everything. It doesn't matter whose post you feel is out of line. If you don't let the mods know, it's really hard for them to work with you.

zibazinski It's an election! Campaigning happens during elections. You don't have to keep your opinions secret.

if you choose to say you voted for someone, i guess that's your decision to make.
what i'm trying to avoid is people ganging up in some fashion after seeing the standings, since answers can be changed.
oh, and for the record, i do not vote in these polls myself. no favoritism on my part.

Oh well...I will have my report finger ready to go if he becomes a mod and uses his "power" to harass or attack me or my friends further

Well it is a secret to all but who I told I voted for. I don't think it should be public and I probably should not have told the person that I voted for them but I was so excited that they decided to go for it!

Miss Tequila you bring up an interesting point. We are in the midst of an election for new moderators, and already a user is indicating that "things might not be better". I'm not saying this in any way to disparage you. I'm calling reference to the fact that the grass isn't always greener.

I'm not saying this in any way to disparage you. I'm calling reference to the fact that the grass isn't always greener. I think the issue is that no on wants to acknowledge when a mod isn't impartial or even a good mod. For the most part info think the mods do a good job. There is one that I and many others see stalking one poster. I've even reported a bunch of her posts when she was really going after this poster. Nothing is ever done about it and she is still a mod. So it isn't so much that "grass isn't always greener" as much as it is reigning in an out of control mod. We are human and will like and dislike people. But when you are a mod your opinions of people shouldn't cloud your decisions. Here is a question. After the person who is now up for mod went on a rampage against me, one if the mods told me to block him ( further proof that I'm not exaggerating...his was a very public tantrum towards me specifically and a few others...over stuff he "heard we said about him"). Anyway, I immediately blocked him so I can't see his posts and he can't PM me nasty messages. If he is elected, will that block still work?

I have the same issue with another mod. I have been told I have two choices, like it or lump it as in go elsewhere or start another board. I don't think getting the mod voted off will get rid of the mod for various reasons. You have to decide if one person is going to run you off or not. I decided not. Would I like to be rid of my "shadow?" Hell, yes. Am I going to leave because of that person? Not sure but not at this time at least.

Miss Tequila thanks for the elaboration. And I want to reiterate that I didn't quote your post to single you out personally or minimize your feelings. I know very well that there are many who would like to see change; and I may or may not make the cut. If it comes to it, I'd rather be a member of a living community, than a mod on an unhappy one. I only referenced your post because as the winds of change blow; I found it a bit worrisome to see nervousness expressed already. Having been on both sides of the issue; I know how it feels to feel like you get the short end of the stick. Sure that whole "greater good" or "handle it amongst yourselves" thing does hold meaning; but its very hard to appreciate that when it is your issue not getting addressed. I can say with 3 years of experience that part of being a moderator means that someone is going to be unhappy with you at all times. Its no secret that there are many people here who aren't fond of one another. Some take it a lot farther than others. Thats part of life and there is no getting around it. There are always going to be bullies, and the worst kind of bully is one with a title. Zib has made a very good point though. Some bullies just want the people they bully to disappear. Its not enough to just change them, because then they find something else to pick on. The best way to beat them is to give them neither.

Luckily i don't have the personality to just slink away. I was just surprised that someone who had such vocal negative feelings about a group of posters would be considered for mod. But that is just my humble opinion and since I was one of the attacked I am obviously biased. There are lots of level headed people up for mod so hopefully 15 of them get selected. That will be my last post on this topic. I didn't even name names because I wasn't trying to rehash the past I had valid concerns as to what would happen so I asked the question. It was answered and now I'm done Good luck to all of you level headed people running for mod...there are several of you that I disagree with 98% of the time but that I know will make good mods.

There's plugins that allow that, but I don't know if that's one of ours. No it isn't.
