The trip I just took to the grocery store was painful: And regarding the price of eggs, they are even more expensive when one drops a carton in the parking lot.

I have a bad habit of carrying as many plastic bags of food and other superemarket purchases into the home as possible to save multiple trips. The weight of all the bags in hands have strectched my arms almost to the ground. But I digress. I always have to remind myself to gently the plastic bags of food on the counter instead of just dropping them out of exhaustion because one of the bags has a dozen eggs inside.

Eggs are like precious cargo, for sure, even more so these days. My issue today was I thought I grasped the handle of the plastic grocery bag (everything else was in totes) and it was actually the side, so it slipped and tumbled to the muddy ground, breaking 4 of the eggs. Divide by what I paid by 14 instead of 18 = .49 each. It was quite the morning...

He asked me to go the dairy aisle and get a pound container of butter (four sticks). I grabbed the first one I saw. He checked out and then at home he discovered the butter I picked up only had three sticks in it. Grandfather was mad at me for a minute or two but explained to me I need to feel all for sides of the butter box to make sure there were four sticks inside. Lesson learned and I still check the butter box that way 65 plus years later.

I've never checked the butter, but always check the egg carton for cracked eggs. They even ask you at checkout if you've checked. Once at Walmart I saw them moving eggs on pallets and I'd say 50% ended up cracked.

Wow. I've never heard of a stick of butter being missing from the box! If I'm doing in person shopping rather than a pickup order, also check the carton for cracked eggs. It's infuriating later on when attempting to use one to discover it's sticking to the carton because of a crack on the egg bottom which went unnoticed during inspection.

The butter thing was back in the '50s. Some people probably could not afford or rarely needed a pound of butter. I always open the egg carton. And I always move each egg in the carton to see if any are stuck to the bottom of the carton. If one is sticky, nope! Next carton.

Yes, I yell at squirrels to get out of the road. I would, if I ever saw one. Haha Do you really see squirrels in the road? I never see squirrels, unless I go to our family cabin, in the mountains, by a lake.

In fact, one ran out in from of my car today, and turned around & ran back, so I didn't hit him. It's hard to miss them this time of the year, because they're so big & fat. The cities & the suburbs aren't what they used to be. We even have wild turkeys strutting around our community. Like geese, they just stand in the middle of the road & look at you. And, you definitely DON'T want to hit one, as it'd leave a big dent in your car.

But I didn't get yelled at. I just was missing 1/2 of my pkg. And I check my eggs.

They loved to chase and peck you, if you got out of your car! Unfortunately, my boss was not very understanding. I'm no longer fond of geese. But I give them plenty of room.

You see their poor flattened bodies sometimes. And other squirrels, when you approach, they give you a stare down of “just try it”.

Confused on why it wouldn't move.

I have during the last 18-24 months, twice, seen one squirrel, outside my apartment bldg. If they are common around here, I've never known it and no one has ever said anything like, hey, look at that squirrel, over there! When I was dating Ex2, we used to take our lunch, to the park, to eat. Although I didn't see any squirrels, what I did see, was Sea Gulls. They were always near by, waiting for the opportunity to snatch your food. Ex2 used to swear he could get one of the birds to roll over, for a French fry. I can't even begin to come up with a number, of how many times I watched him try to get a crazy Sea Gull to roll over. I never saw it happen. I just saw him give up and throw them the fry, without doing anything, but begging. Yet, to this day, he will claim that he can do it. <insert GIANT eye roll here> At least squirrels can be entertaining. They're pretty clever. Sea Gulls, not so much.

Dare I say you would freak out over our “flying” squirrels? Squirrels are funny except when the decide to dig up some of the things planted. But they can be deterred from that. Nah. I love flying squirrels and bats. So fascinating! I also like domesticated mice and rats. When I was around 9-10yrs old, I caught a live wild mouse, with my bare hands. My mom wasn't happy about that. I, on the other hand, was the queen of the neighborhood.😄 I'd take any type of animal, over bugs/spiders. My brain, just can't deal with them. At all. But my most favorite is, of course, the ferret! I wish they weren't so high maintenance and expensive to own. I'd get another one! But they don't have very long lifespans, with cancer, as well as other major health issues, being common issues, especially in their elder years (4-5 yrs old). I don't want ever have to go through that again. And finding a trusted ferret sitter, is all but impossible. Unless you know someone that also has ferrets, so can swap services. You can plan on being home with your ferret(s), until you no longer have ferrets. I wish I knew someone who has ferrets, in my area, so I could visit/play them occasionally. I LOVE FERRETS! And I miss mine, terribly.
