This is both funny and sad. I was talking to an old friend remembering how we grew up. We were free range children and our parents rarely worried about us. No way would our parents let us scream for long, that got trained out of us quick. What did get trained in us, was self reliance. He brought up how one summer he was left on an Island in the Midwest when he was 14, by himself. He had canned food, people he knew, and as he put it, where was he going to go? It topped my whine.

I knew a couple who used this excuse not to have kids. Sad thing was, if they would of had kids, they might have actually contributed something to society instead of being useless pricks. 🙂 |

Yeah, as long as you are willing to silently accept negative critique of your technique. Hey, the only time I need to criticize DH, is when he empties out the dishwasher, and stacks the dishes in the cupboard so if you open the door, you could get dishes falling on you. You'd think growing up with the toys we did, he could learn how to arrange things so they don't fall.  Other than that, he's normally pretty good when it comes to helping. |
