Let's say one who is 48 with computer experience and being out of it for 5 years had decided she wants to be back to work. How does one like me starting looking for a job that just A JOB!!! Nothing major, simple, mid-range salary...just to do something... Huh?

I would imagine the employment agency will test tloonya's computer skills prior to any referral(s).

Maybe start with an employment agency.. they can pre-screen potential employers for you and find a good match. How do you find employment agency? Just goggle it?

Just make sure you find the type of agency that doesn't charge you any money. They should be getting fees from employers. If they want money from you to help you find a job (and that may include services such as resume-writing), find another agency.

If you still speak with any of them, how about the people you used to work with a few years ago? Some of them may still be in the computer/IT field, and can offer some advice or let you know about anyone hiring.
But be prepared for all your computer skills to be out of date. Five years is a long time in your field. You may have to get additional certifications and training to be considered. But you may also get hired at an entry-level position, and be able to get additional education on the employer's dime.

Seriously, the people you know in your old line of work are going to be your best contacts. Nothing wrong with a good employment agency or even a website (I like Indeed.com, but I understand Monster is another good site for techie/computer/IT folks). But your old co-workers are going to know the local work gossip better than any website or agency.

I want to have a small tiny job in a small tiny room with a small laptop...and nobody around... I don't want to see people... P.S. My humor was wasted on you btw...

If Archie was here he'd have "gotten it" Ew. Whatever Loony is giving Archie, it had better not be contagious. Oh, and good luck on finding that perfect job, Loony. Sounds like another poster we had who wanted the same thing.

And not ten of my best, I can tell you. I save those for the highly deserving threads.

I thought the latest plan was to just keep doing what you're doing and reap $250k profit selling the business in three years? Now you want to take on a separate full-time job when it's more than a full-time job for both spouses to keep the store running? I'm .

But not at all I telling it all...so back off anal-lizators!!!

But how will you have time to work when you find your job, Loony ? It would interrupt your mission to bring "Humor" to the lucky world.
