DH had a supervisor at his former employer get arrested for being part of a child porn ring. That he was running at work! Supervisors have administrative rights over their computers so nobody was following up on him. But the Feds were keeping track of him. DH said it was just like the movies, this van pulls up and out comes several guys in suits and sunglass. They went into the supervisor's office and marched him out in handcuffs with another one carrying the computer. The company had to have a meeting about it the next day. Then the pediatrician we used to go to is in trouble not only for allegedly molesting his 4 year old grand daughter but it has now been discovered that he had a hidden camera in his medical office and was taking videos of his patients. Other various films have been found on his home computer. This man has been an outstanding member of the community and practicing pediatrician for over 30 years. So this: Consuming child porn "is not something that is just done by unemployed drifters who live in their parent's basement," Is 100% accurate. You never know who somebody is behind closed doors. It scares the heck out of DH and myself because you feel like you can trust no one. How do you protect your kid when the person who is on the list of 'people to trust" ends up being the pervert?

Sick people are in this world. There's no doubt of that. I'd be o.k. with giving sickos of this nature a "needle cure"... that they don't wake up from.

OK- not going to defend these creeps- BUT are you suggesting the death penalties for people that merely possess images, an image, or for people involved in the actual acts/filming/etc? What if they are virtual images? What about really creepy non-nude collections? What if it is a nude pic of your own child in the bathtub? What if it was just some random porn that turns out to be underage (think Traci Lords)
The reason I ask is there have been people drug across the coals by police that were not pedophiles- so before we start killing everyone just wanted to know the ground rules. These folks are obviously in some sick little club-but once you pull out the death penalty you have to be a little specific.
