Blond Granny - My eye doctors say I'm not ready for the surgery yet - they've said it'll be at least a year and maybe 2. We'll see. I'm really starting to notice how little I can really see - especially small things and things at a distance.
How much more do you have to lose your vision before you are 'ready'? You already cannot drive, is that not sufficient?

Cataract surgery is so easy. They break up the cataract with ultrasound, make a tiny incision and insert a new lens. Voila, perfect vision. I was told the days of waiting till they were "ready" are over.

My mom had that surgery a few years ago. Her insurance wouldn't cover it because her eyes weren't "ready" so she just paid for it out of pocket. She is very glad she had the procedure.

We only have 1 car... But we live in Chicago so there is a mass transit system. DH works in the burbs so he has to drive, I take the train in. Someone would have to double my salary to get me to a job that would require me to drive daily.
