An average of five people a day sustain gunshot wounds in the border city and the majority of them ask to be taken to El Paso, which is just across the Rio Grande, for security reasons. Gunmen have sometimes chased ambulances or entered hospitals in Juárez to finish off people who survived shootings.

www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/02/23/lawmakers-consider-proposal-arming-agents-mexico-ice-attack/U.S. Lawmakers Consider Ways of Arming U.S. Agents in Mexico After Killing of ICE Agent U.S. lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are weighing actions to allow U.S. agents working in Mexico to pack heat after a drug gang killed an unarmed U.S. immigration agent and wounded another. U.S. agents have not been allowed to carry weapons in Mexico since a 1990 agreement. But their safety has been increasingly in jeopardy ever since Mexican President Felipe Calederon declared war on the drug cartels when he took office in December 2006.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Want a hair follicle from me?? I'm clean. Haven't smoked a joint or done any other drug for over 30 years. I think pot should be legalized, but it is not. Even if it was, I would not smoke. Advice from me-- find a source other than Mexico, throw your effort in to getting your fav illegal drugs legalized, or you are enabling mass murder. Funny, isn't it?? giggle, giggle

No, I was never a pot head, see no purpose to it except for pain maybe since it made me pass completely out, and yes I am a recovering alcoholic-- over 20 years now. Alcohol is a drug, and it is not illegal or being smuggled in from Mexico and getting people killed, by the way. Tenn-- moderator-- stay out of my personal life on this board.

here in Georgia it doesn't come from Mexico.... comes from good old boys struggling to make a living in Tennessee and Kentucky.

For most of us, unless we are some how the victem...most of what we go on is what we get from the different media sources, and while I am not a fan of them, occasionally I will catch one of those programs on cable, some channel I never watch. Last night for example, It was a docudrama of the jail in Miami, one hour South from my home, woman as guards. It's a 5 story edifice , down town, and 52 % of the guards are woman now, they go through a 17 month training period, graduate as correction officers, interesting at graduation all had weapons holstered so real police capabilities and then they show them at work..what it is like.
Those people they are in charge of, where do they come from..what is their purpose..such predators , from another world, have no interest in having them around..my thoughts..five stories ..put another 5 stories up there..get them away from me, to the ones who are watching them, men, woman, thank you, thank you for your service and I have been places yet these folks...and this is just the holding areas till they get to courts and cases are decided and thinking, so many are going to walk, or light sentences ...and back on the street.

And Elvis Presley was one of his celebrity ambassadors for the effort. He later died of a drug overdose and was high as a kite in the photo with nixon, when he was given his honorary DEA badge.

krickett,
the govt has lost control of monterray. the richest city in mexico. get ready for the fleeing mexican elites to come your way.
the few honest police have bounties on their heads, the rest are just fighting each other because they belong to rival drug gangs.
and we're supposed to replace our culture with theirs?

"and we're supposed to replace our culture with theirs?[/" Don't have to replace their cultire with ours..you forgot to mention, our culture of such demand for the drugs they are in the business of moving to our shoress, all they are doing is supply our demand, asll the violence , the cost at their end of the business, but from a culture it seems we are doing fine on our own. Nice to throw stones, but it seems a lot could be thrown at us too, possible even more as we should know better yet...

yes and prohibition causes the corruption and the violence. in America it isn't as institutionalized as it in mexico(yet)our drug cartel(DEA) is a lot more subtle and has a monopoly. i'm hoping our citezens will stand up and fight back when virtually every law enforcement official becomes a part of a drug cartel and there are gun battles daily in the streets. at least here the citizens(the ones with guns) will be able to fight back.
so again, lets compare the common cold with cancer and say we are both bad cultures.

You should come to Memphis during the week of August 16 (the date of Elvis' death) when it is Elvis Memorial week. All the fans, standing outside Graceland with their lit candles during the vigil on August 16th would astound you. Graceland then opens the gates and a solemn procession of thousands walk up the driveway and past Elvis' grace.

he is a religious icon to some.
i love elvis.
the story is that nixon was worried about john lennon's political influence on American youth. elvis was more worried about john lennon's star power overtaking his. so they had a thing in common. ;D

Parts of Mexico have no cops. They have all quit, or been murdered. MEXICO, you say?? What does that matter to US?? Well-- we talk about all these places in the middle east and Africa, that are far away-- (except for creeping in through MEXICO), but Mexico is attached to us, and leaking in to us. There are dozens of stories, and I will post them all here. Missionaries, ranchers, elected officials supporting illegal activity, murders, kidnappings.. all of it. I am aching to post all the dead people in the last few weeks, but no. I start from now.
