I realize that The Onion is satire, but that really does hit the nail on the head. A lot of conservatives do tend to credit Reagan for things he had little or nothing to do with.
If Eisenhower were alive today, they'd be calling him a "liberl"

You sure enjoy clicking that button, for no good reason it seems. I have earned all of my points with honest, sound and true assessments of the putrid transpirations the country has and is enduring.

Mr. Burns-we can safely assume it was not gardeninggrandma who awarded you most of your karma points but some other individual poster.

Those who pay attention already know and have always known that Eisenhower wasn't a "conservative." In fact he wasn't even a Republican. He ran on the Republican ticket because of certain issues, but was offered the nomination of both parties. He chose the Republican and rejected the Democratic. Robert A. Taft was the choice of "conservatives," but was rejected for Gen. Eisenhower by the Republican Party which felt that Eisenhower was the stronger candidate [which was indubitably true]. There are, no doubt, Republicans who believe that Eisenhower was conservative, but hardly anyone with rudimentary knowledge of the era does. Modern conservatism dates from Robert Taft [Mr. Conservative, Mr. Republican] although there have always been "conservatives." One of the problems people have in understanding both conservatives and the "tea party" is that they think that they are the same. Conservatism is a philosophy as much as a political inclination and like the "tea party," it is not a political party. The Onion [which produces some good satire] has, in this case produced bad satire, based on poor knowledge of "conservatism." It simply isn't believable to anyone who isn't completely ignorant of the subject. It is more like making fun of the ignorant ~ of both the right and left. Good satire requires a germ of truth.

safeharbor, I did not intend to imply that Eisenhower was a conservative. But he WAS a Republican, and today he'd be considered, by many conservatives, to be a flaming liberal.
He was liked and respected by both sides....

You forget gardening... you can only be either conservative or liberal... so if he wasn't considered a conservative... he must have been a liberal...

Do you think its unethical to make yourself an 'alter' persona just so your alter can give your primary karma?

That was then and this is now. His policies (with a long list of other liberals) have decimated the country's fiscal resources to the point of assured bankruptcy. What is worse is the fact that millions have become dependent on the numerous handouts and when reality dictates there will be no more you will have situations like we see in other parts of the world right now. This is why liberal policies never work in the long run. A simple fact proven time and time again.
