Suit claims FBI violates Muslims' rights at mosque(02-23) 15:51 PST LOS ANGELES, CA (AP) -- Plaintiffs in a lawsuit against the FBI said Wednesday that the agency's use of a paid informant to infiltrate California mosques has left them and others Muslims with an enduring fear that their phones and e-mails are being screened and their physical whereabouts monitored. The claims came at a news conference announcing the lawsuit, filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California and the Los Angeles office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "........an enduring fear that their phones and e-mails are being screened and their physical whereabouts monitored.........."
That reads like it was written by about half the typical God fearing citizens of the United States, so what is so special about some disgruntled muslims that the ACLU suddenly jumps in? Unless the feds can no longer put surveillance on me, my business, my family, my money transactions and everything else I touch, watching and listenong to what is going on with a mosque is just music to my ears.

Oddly I find myself agreeing with the ACLU on this. The Mosques should be off limits for the FBI. There are plenty of ways to gain info without infiltrating a house of worship. I would feel the same way about them infiltrating any Christian church. Some things are just off limits. Now if they gain info outside of the Mosque that is fine by me.

handy,
mosques in the US is where the terrorists do their work.
you don't think the FBI infiltrated the ancient order of hibernians by keeping out of the churches.
we are the only ones who fall for hiding behind mosques, schools and hospitals.
libyan soldiers(muslims) just went into a mosque and killed "brother" muslims this morning.
where's the "peaceful" muslim outrage?

If they are tracking a specific person I don't see why they shouldn't be able to enter a Mosque. If they are just going into a Mosque to see who's in there and what if anything is going on, I don't think that is appropriate.

Yes. Some Catholics funded IRA terrorists. But this Catholic-born part Irish American did not donate money to IRA terrorists.

Sounds like the FBI should be doing a better job at picking confidential informants

Yes. Some Catholics funded IRA terrorists. But this Catholic-born part Irish American did not donate money to IRA terrorists. are you a member of the AOH? i'm not. I was raised Catholic(born with free will), mainly of irish descent. should the FBI have tried to infiltrate them by sending an informant into their parish? imho, yes. they should also send informants into places of worship to sting the child molester priests, reverends, rabbis and imans. ditto the boy scouts.
crooks rob banks, cause that's where the money. mosques are where the bad guys hide.

From the article:
"Monteilh's use as an informant has caused little but headaches for the FBI.
The one-time machine operator has a lengthy rap sheet dating to the 1980s and a history of evictions and bad debts for everything from car payments to rent to credit cards.
After several months of gathering cell phone numbers and e-mail addresses for his handlers, agents asked Monteilh to talk more openly about jihad and his willingness to engage in violence, according to the lawsuit.
Instead of responding approvingly to Monteilh's violent rhetoric, several mosque-goers called the FBI to say they were worried about his statements."
Heck-even some of the Muslims reported the (unknown to them) informant to the FBI.
So are all Muslims terrorists? I say no and for some Muslims, their religion is a religion of peace.

and i agree with that. where we differ is that i believe the proportion of foreign born "peaceful/tolerant" muslims in the US is miniscule(to almost non existent) to the ones that support(physically or tacitly) the muslim agenda of world dominance. and you apparently believe that the proportion of "whacked out" American born, Christians is huge among all of the American born Christians.

"And their treatment of women is down right deplorable and generally accepted"
I cannot argue with that. Just like I can't argue some areas of Christianity don't treat their women equally either. There is plenty of work to be done in just about every religion in regards to the treatment of women.

I do so hate using that trite cliche regarding the word 'assume' so I won't. But it does apply to part of your post.

but a lot, waay more, to be done with today's muslims compared to every other of today's religions combined.
your moral relativism is like comparing the common cold to cancer. yea both are sicknesses but one's way more dangerous than the other.

www.anti-cair-net.org/www.anti-cair-net.org/ProvenCAIRtruthLet there be no doubt that the Council on American-Islamic Relations is a terrorist supporting front organization that is partially funded by terrorists, and that CAIR wishes nothing more than the implementation of Sharia Law in America. CAIR has proven links to, and was founded by, Islamic Terrorists. CAIR actively supports terrorists and terrorist-supporting groups and nations. CAIR is an organization founded by Hamas supporters which seeks to overthrow Constitutional government in the United States and replace it with an Islamist theocracy using our own Constitution as protection. CAIR was started by Hamas members and is supported by terrorist supporting individuals, groups and countries. CAIR is not in the United States to promote the civil rights of Muslims. CAIR is here to make radical Islam the dominant religion in the United States and convert our country into an Islamic theocracy. CAIR receives direct funding from Islamic terrorist supporting countries. (Lots of info in here, including the closure of the CAIR case against anti-CAIR.)

well when one assumes they make an ass out of you and me. i've seen your posts enough to get a gist of your "beliefs" you take the liberal progressive party line on everything. just like the neocons on the old board during the bush years who took that party line every time. when both are confronted with facts that disagree. moral relativism comes into play or the subject is ignored.
not attributing it to you, but "everybody rapes" was a doozy in the thread about the reporter.
