I currently get: Cosmo Better Homes & Gardens Ladies Home Journal Trael & Leisure Family Circle Smithsonian Weight Watchers Kipplinger
I have on order: Cooking Light Prevention
Expired but stil getting: Martha Stewart Living
Would like to get Rachel Ray again. Might even pay (up to $5) for it.
I do not subscribe to a newspaper. I only, generally, want Sun and that is cheaper at the dollar store.
ALL are freebies I found online. Paying NOTHING for 1-2 yr subscriptions.

I just found that newspapers and magazines just tended to lead to more clutter. And, i read everything i want to read online now. I sometimes pick up the local newspaper but that's it.

I take a regional newspaper. I can read all the magazines I want at the library. Southernsusana, It surprises me that their is no USA Today subscription. People here subscribed, and it is delivered every week day through the mail. We could do a mail subscription, but then it might be one or two days later. WSJ is delivered through the mail, and it is hit-or-miss as to whether it arrives the same day. WSJ used to be delivered with our local newspaper, but that cut back to three days a week.

We used to get the newspaper, and while I like it, I end up reading it maybe 3/4 days of the week and missing the rest, then they pile up, and I can't just get rid of them without reading, etc. The cycle is vicious. I can get national news online, but I like the recaps of school board meetings, local color, obituaries, etc. I can't decide whether to get it again or not.
DH gets Pennsylvania Game and Fish, North American Whitetail, Pennsylvania Outdoor News, and maybe an archery magazine. He has cut way down.
I used to get Runner's World, but then they post all the articles on their website/Facebook page so I didn't renew. I probably will again after I give birth to give me some motivation to get back in shape.

I grew up in a house full of magazines, and I used to subscribe to a few magazines and the daily newspaper, but I gradually dropped them all. Last year I got tired of being told that I'd hit my 10-article-per-month limit, so I got a digital subscription to the NY Times. It's half-price because I work at a .edu. I get my local news from the student newspaper here at the university.
Reading all the other posts makes me realize that I should probably subscribe to Real Simple, since I buy that pretty much every month.

We get the local paper 4 days a week. I pull the coupons out and put the paper in a pile for my dad to burn without even reading it.
We only get it for the coupons

You can drop it in the recycling bin on the way out.

My Mom is a voracious reader. I recently cancelled mine because I wan't able to read them all. I was getting: In Style LHJ Family Circleand Taste of Homebut cancelled all of them within the past 3 months. We still get the newspaper and DH gets Golf Weekly We have this Family Fun subscription from when the kids were smaller that he needs to cancel since it's in his name but he hasn't gotten around to it yet. I also get the kids Puzzle Buzz from Highlights during the summer months to help stave off boredom. Once school's back in session they have enough homework to keep them busy.

I used to get:
New Yorker Scientific American Discover The Atlantic Smithsonian
I cancelled them a few years ago because I just couldn't keep up with getting them read while settling into a new job. Lately, I have had more time and have really been itching to resubscribe.

I would like to get Smithsonian and National Geographic again. Maybe I can find some deals. I forgot, but DH gets Science News and just loves it. It's one of his Christmas presents every few years.

Newspapers; We pay for the Sunday San Francisco Chronicle. It's surprisingly expensive @ 260/yr but I do get on-line access for the rest of the week. And I do read some articles every day.
Digitally I try to read newspapers in the towns where we own property at least once a week; Arizona Republic Idyllwild Town Crier San Diego Union Tribune
Magazines: When we moved to Germany I gave up all my magazines except for AZ Highways. Nothing like that magazine to make you homesick when there are piles of dirty snow and short days! But I let it expire when we moved back to CA. We subscribed to the Economist while we were in Germany. I really miss it. Great writing and not US centric. But at $160/yr it's a little spendy right now. Sunset I used to also subscribe to Phoenix Home and Garden. I couldn't resist picking up the January issue while I was there. They were featuring Santa Fe Home Style. The colors! <sighs> And yes I read my free copy of AARP. They have some interesting articles.

The local paper doesn't have everything online so I still get it delivered.
I live in the same town I grew up in, and there is extensive local sports coverage. A lot of my friends and relatives have kids that play HS and local sports. I like to see how they're doing.

If you like to read, check out nextissue.com it's either $10 or $15 per month for more magazines than one person can read. I love it. I download them to my Kindle and take them anywhere I want to go.

They've been sending that to DH for years. But I get the mail and throw it away so he doesn't see it. He's already feeling bad about getting older and that would be like a knife to the heart, so I spare him that indignity.

The Birmingham News switched from 7-day to 3-day a week delivery without changing the price. It was about $150 a year. Then they went UP for fewer papers, and I dropped it. I got a new subscriber offer that brought it back down. If I could get it for $20 a year, I would five or six delivered to my house each Sunday and whatever the other day is. But I do like reading about my students, etc. I take the paper to school and give it to them when they are mentioned. I think it makes them feel important.

Only two for me right now - Parents Magazine and ME Magazine (mech engineering magazine that is included with my professional society membership). Oh, and I get aagazine called Momsense (? I think?) included with my MOPS membership.
In the past, I've gotten Self, and a couple of craft/scrap booking magazines, but I can't get through the others right now, so I can't justify the cost.
We get a local paper delivered for free 3 days a week, and DH reads it cover to cover. I'll occasionally glance through it.
We also read USAToday online.
My mom has subscriptions or several - Quick Cooking (I think they have a new name that I can't remember), Taste of Home, Country Living, and maybe Rachel Ray. She also picks up All you fairly frequently, so when I'm home every few months or so, I'll swipe a bunch of her old issues to read.

My hometown paper always puts in the honor roll lists and other school awards, plus covers band, orchestra, choir, sports, etc. stuff, and I loved seeing my name in the paper. My parents had a subscription, but church friends would also cut the articles and/or pictures out and give to us so we could share with out of town grandparents and still keep a copy for ourselves. So thoughtful of you - kudos!

Our State Senator's office cuts out and laminates pictures of local kids in the paper and sends it to the parents.
My kids do not have my last name, but the pictures still make it to me.

When I lived in a small town, the local bank (only one in town) used to do this. I still have one of my daughter, thirty-something years later.

I never renew the subscription and alwas start a new deal delivery which gets us the paper for $20.

No magazines except, inexplicably, Progressive Farmer I have to know - do you read it? What type of stuff does Progressive Farmer usually feature? I read it for awhile. It was pretty interesting-directed at large-scale farms. Articles covered fertilizers, hedging crop prices, crop insurance, equipment, etc. There were the usual ads from places like Monsanto. I have no idea why they sent it to AARP-aged people living in a McMansion with a postage-stamp lot. Maybe the people who lived here before us invested in farmland?
Speaking of AARP- I've been throwing their mailings away for years. We don't get a magazine. I just find that there's not much that interest me in magazines anymore. The clothes, makeup and articles on "how to drive your man wild in bed" are directed to a younger demographic. (We older ladies are already experts in that last category. ) We enjoy cooking and healthy eating but have a good supply of cookbooks and plenty of resources on the Web. I subscribed to Wine Spectator to keep airline miles form expiring and it was almost a chore to read even though I love wine. I got Conde Nast Traveler years ago but it's directed towards people who take vacations on private islands off the Patagonian coast and buy $1,000 raincoats. Good for a giggle, but not how I travel.
