I like the necklace on the dog on the right. Do the dogs have an airconditioned dog house? I seem to remember some controversy years back about someone having an air conditioned dog house and how frivolous and material that was. Uh huh. I don't have a memory of that. Do you have any more information about such a controversy?

Do you have any more information about such a controversy? I'm pretty sure she's talking about Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, billisonboard. Seems to me I remember something about their dogs having air-conditioned dog houses. I haven't heard the president's family dogs have one, though.

It was fun reading about all the presidential dogs and their "history" I've bookmarked the site. It does look like some fun reading.

I'm not sure I get the tie-in to Marie Antionette. Did Mrs. Obama explicitly state that or is someone throwing gas on the fire? The Jewlery and dogs sitting at a fine dining table setting could (I guess) be a lame attempt at being funny. Personally I think it's in poor taste especially when there are (supposedly) going to be millions of Americans starving due to the cuts in food stamps. what does cutting food stamps have to do with with the dogs sitting at a table setting?

Personally I think it's in poor taste especially when there are (supposedly) going to be millions of Americans starving due to the cuts in food stamps. what does cutting food stamps have to do with with the dogs sitting at a table setting? It was already addressed by other peeps in other posts but I'll go over it again. I will always say it is your right to spend what you've earned as you see fit. However, when you CHOOSE to run for a PUBLIC position and represent the PUBLIC at large, you should at least strive not to rub your opulent lifestyle (paid for by the PUBLIC) in the faces of those less fortunate, especially when the Goverment, of which you are the LEADER, cuts the benefits to millions that puts food on the tables of citizens, not dogs, whom are the folks you are supposed to serve. This is why I believe it's in poor taste (even though I agree with the budget cuts). Best I can explain it. While I couldn't make the leap to Marie Antionette, I could understand the same vein (what - my people are starving? Let them eat cake) (and yes, I know she didn't make that exact quote). It was that lack of consideration for the gap between the rulers, and those ruled, that lead to a revolution. I'd hate for it to get to that state in American because our elected representatives became so far out of touch with those whom they are SUPPOSED to represent.
