I don't know. They didn't want me to rupture where I had the previous incision, which is why they wanted to do the C section. I was just pushing on my own (because I had to), so maybe they didn't realize how far I was along? It was 3 in the morning, maybe that had something to do with it.

I was just pushing on my own (because I had to), so maybe they didn't realize how far I was along? It was 3 in the morning, maybe that had something to do with it. I had my first by c-section in 1985 and my next two by vaginal delivery (1989 and 1991). I know I was more panicky with my second because of the fear of rupture in the back of my mind, but my Dr. didn't seem the least bit worried about it. Of course in the 20+ years since I've had mine, we've become a more litigious society so I can see your Dr. erring on the side of caution. I've always felt blessed that I was able to avoid multiple c-sections plus I had done my research after the first one to find out if it was even possible for me to avoid one. I also discussed it all with the doc when I was going to have my second child and would have unhappily conceded if he'd told me vaginal deliveries were not an option for me. I know when I was in a childbirth class with DD2 before she had DGD, the nurse seemed pretty set against anyone having a vaginal delivery after C-section because of possible complications. I kept my experiences to myself since the I've heard from others and her explanation of how a c-section is done told me that Dr's are more likely to do a vertical incision on the uterus now versus the horizontal one I had done and which my previous research had told me actually does have a higher chance of rupture.

I was born in 1984 via c-section. My mom's water broke and she was in labor for 24 hours without dilating past a 2 despite the drugs. They called the surgical team in since it was a holiday and I was taken via c-section. My brother in 1986 was a planned c-section because she hadn't dilated the first time. He got to cook an extra week because he was premature on the original planned date. From premature to 9 pounds in a week....
I have a cousin who has severe muscle issues due to being in the birth canal for too long. They waited too long to take her out.

Giving birth twice has done amazing things for my strength and inner fortitude. I could lift a car/bus/plane off a kid all by myself if I had to. I could go without food and water for days and weeks if I only had enough for them or for me. I can go days on end with little sleep or without a moment to myself. I could take a bullet for them and survive to kick the shooter's ass. I can deflect all kinds of criticism/gossip/insults/bad advice and the kids will never see me crack under the assault. I can get sick, throw up, maybe take a moment to clean myself off, and go tend to a kiddo who is sick and throwing up without missing a beat. I am a mother. A mother bear. Don't ever mess with my cubs. I really like that! It's how I use to feel when I was raising kids. Now I'm just tired. lol It's amazing how mother bears can find strength, courage and grace that they had no idea was inside of them.

I became insensitive to poo and vomit......No amount of yuk phases me now. I just get on with it. ....and I developed the patience of a Saint. Multi tasking skills improved ie....Developed an ability to feed little one, keep the other one on the potty (with my leg) and pour water from a jug to make him go with my free hand...and sing nursery rhymes. Downside....Post partum hair lank, lifeless and falling out. It's not a change to your body, but I learned to carry/hold on to a hundred different things at the same time. I think it's a Mom thing from hauling around two little kids, their stuff, my stuff and other random stuff.

I became very adept at picking things up with my feet, and never gave it up... does that count

ETA: I can't believe I almost forgot this, as its my biggest problem now. I now have what I believe is rosacea and dry skin. I had always had oily, acne prone skin, but this is completely different. Most soaps turn my face beet red now. I'm not sure what to do about it now. Sil got me really expensive facial cleanser for Christmas, which is better, but I still get a little redness. Please check out Paula Begoin's website. She used to publish books called "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me" where she'd do reviews of makeup and skin care products not just based on feel/appearance, but a scientific analysis of the ingredients - like a Consumer Reports for this stuff. Now her reviews are free on the web and she has very good detailed advice for all sorts of problem skin. She does sell products, but also recommends good products from all sorts of other lines as well from expensive to drug store cheapies.
Example - for Rosacea, here are her skin care recommendations: www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/rosacea/
If you want to find individual products that are good for Rosacea, then do a search on her "best products" for each product type. Starting with a gentle water soluble cleanser, here are the best ones: www.paulaschoice.com/beautypedia-skin-care-reviews/best-skin-care-products/Skin-Care/Cleansers-including-Cleansing-Cloths?sort=product&direction=asc&pageNumber=1&pageSize=25&treenodeid=e28297ea-574c-4ec4-8e77-bb32b6d6b54f&rating=3&skintype=Dry&subcategorytreenodeid=9b60998e-78db-4ebf-a48e-af4cea331abc
Notice you'll find that she has recommendations for expensive stuff but also ones that are less than $5 at Target. If you click on any of the individual products in that list (I sorted on dry skin), you can see the review to see if that product is OK for Rosacea.
I have tricky skin, too and Paula's recommendations have really helped. I use about 50% of products that I order from her website and the other 50% that I get at Target or Walmart. My skin has never looked better and I look younger than my younger sister even though I'm in the sun all the time.

This is what happened to me both times, water broke, long long labor, never dilated past a 3. The failed VBAC was hell. I'm done having kids, but if I ever have an oopsie, planned C-section all the way!

I was presented with the option of the other hospital if I wanted to try a vaginal delivery. They told me they weren't equipped to handle a rupture, so I just took them at their word. It wasn't a big deal to me as I had no issues with the first C section. I do have a horizontal incision, but it was only 2.5 years prior, and I was 40 so high-risk.

Thanks. After reading about rosacea, I'm not positive that is it. Maybe I'm just having an allergic reaction, although I'm not using anything new. I'll have to do more digging later.

You may just have sensitive skin. And something you're doing (or a product or the sun) may be irritating it. Especially if your skin is dry, irritating it could be easy and something as simple as scrubbing it with a washcloth may be the problem.
I have sensitive skin and if I scrub with a washcloth or manually exfoliate with a scrub, it's red for almost a whole day afterwards.

My wife wanted to go VBAC, but it was breech anyway. Scheduled a C-section. So yes, I missed the whole panicked, dazed, midnight rush to the hospital thing.... And even then there was a problem, so they didn't let me into the room right away. But at least I was there with her when they pulled him out. It probably seemed a lot cooler to me than it did to her at the time.

LMAO!!! I saw tallguy posting on this thread and was curious what happened to his body after he had his baby. I'm relieved it was his ex wife he's discussing.

I got carpal tunnel while pregnant and it never went away. It gets better for stretches then will flare up again, lately it's been waking me up several times a night. I think I'm going to have to start wearing braces on my wrists when I sleep.
Also, can't metabolize alcohol anymore.

My feet also grew. (weird how that seems to have happened to most of us)
My first crash c-section the doctor cut me in the wrong place and cut through my stomach muscles. Recovery was long and sucked.
My stomach is still numb in that area.
Second one was planned due to DS2's dwarfism. I remember my doc telling me that we had to hurry and do my surgery because his son had a baseball game that he was coaching. LOL
I had horrible morning sickness 24 hours a day for about 6 months with both kids. I basically spent most of my prego time puking in every bathroom around town...
And, I agree that a hysterectomy was the BEST decision of my life. Best by far. Bleeding ALL the time just isn't normal or healthy.

I read that it's because the same hormone that loosens up your pelvic ligaments to prepare for birth loosens up all your other ligaments, too... and for whatever reason your feet don't bounce back the way everything else does. The ligaments in my hands expanded way more than my feet, I was clumsy as hell for the last few months of pregnancy. Good thing I wasn't drinking, or the number of broken wine glasses would have been astronomical

Good thing I wasn't drinking, or the number of broken wine glasses would have been astronomical I was hoping desperately that my feet would grow when I had kids. (I wear a size 5 :/) No dice for me. But the loosened ligaments did result in my hips slipping out during pregnancy. My boobs made it through two pregnancies and breastfeeding of two kids basically unharmed. I'm closing in on 40 and they're still pretty perky.(34D) My stomach didn't fair quite so well... My rib cage and hips have spread significantly and totally changed what looks good at me. I have a sweet tooth that I didn't have pre-pregnancy. I blame DH's DNA.

I gained a shoe size. I also noticed floaters in my vision after giving birth to DS#2 who was 8.5 lbs. Kid's head was like a bowling ball and his shoulders were even bigger. We ladies have a succession of our girl bodies, our woman bodies and then our mother bodies. They change and evolve. Gravity is the major culprit.

I was wrong about bladder control. I thought I had it back, but I'm sick and coughing pretty hard today, and it looks like there's still a degree of bladder control that's missing.
