Our infrastructure is crumbling. Physicists have been sounding the alarm, to mostly deaf ears, that anticipated solar events ( extremely strong flares that have a known cycle) in the next few years may fry out our antiquated, un-backed systems. Quebec went dark after such an event several years ago.
Imagine many power lines in the U.S. being fried out at once. A lot of copper will be needed to replace/repair what becomes damaged and lost, as well as all the computer systems ( containing gold, silver, cadmium, etc. ) that will need to be replaced. We are going to be needing a lot of everything. But will we be able to afford it?

That sounds plausible to me; among the coin-sellers operating in Buenos Aires are businesses owned by the same bus companies that refuse to accept bills, tokens or electronic fare cards from riders. Others, however, blame the Argentine government for not minting enough coins to meet demand and for failing to crack down on the illegal sale of metal currency.
