sarcasticgirl the day you passed me got me motivated again. That lasted a couple of days. Then Friday was I had too many beers and not enough steps. Saturday was a lazy day.
After an 1 hour and 45 minute walk I am now over 15,000 for the day.
I need to keep up this pace which may proof difficult as I have to cram 5 days of work into 3. That will mean no long walk at lunch and working late.
In June I maybe be up to a core challenge. I need to start slowly with the core challenge.
Keep up the good work everyone.

I haven't been on the computer because I have been working... due to the issue with the school screwing up my account to the tune 0f almost $2400 I will be taking an indefinite hiatus. The bright side is I am getting along well at work.
And I have lost 2 uniform shirt sizes and at least one pants size.

Not sure why, but it seems like it's difficult to stay motivated this time of year! It shouldn't be considering summer is right around the corner, but for me, personally, I have a hard time getting motivated for my afternoon cardio at the gym because it's so darn hot! Good thing is they gym I go to is kept really cool (almost too cold, which I prefer) so once I get there I'm ok, but getting myself there after working all day can be challenging.
I just do it anyway, though. I consider my daily workout time as important as my daily work-time so I rarely give myself the option to wimp out. Anyway, just wanted to contribute to this thread as it seems to be waning a bit.
I've recently increased my weight lifting and having even small goals to meet and surpass helps, but boy, I just can't seem to get past the 2 min. mark for planks! Those things kill me, but I'm determined to get past the hump!

Well, my marathon relay went well last weekend! We finished in 4:16, average pace of 9:46 for the team. I ran 4 miles of the 26.2 at 10:28 pace (including a pee break!), so I did better than my projected 11:00 per mile. My hockey tournament got cancelled this weekend because two teams pulled out at the last minute
My little guy has been asking to run a "race" with me, so I found a family fun run for us to do on Saturday. It'll be fun to push the baby in a stroller and run with my 3 year old. I wonder how long it will take us to do 1k? Here's to hoping he develops good fitness habits for life!
ETA: Missk I "liked" your post, because I totally understand where you are coming from, not because of the half pound!

Heehee glad you understand generic! Sorry for being whiny, guys! I feel like I can't splurge at all and I just don't know how realistic that is! I guess I need to ask myself what's more important to me. Sigh!

hey missk82 i'm right there with you. I've been eating well and getting activity in, but i'm still sitting at 211. So annoying. BUT- the weather has been nice so I've been going out for short walks at lunch time and taking the dog for a nice 2 mile walk/jog in the evenings. Both of which I really enjoy. so it doesn't feel like working out... just a nice sustainable activity. genericname awesome job on the run times!!! and it is great that your family is involved! i got hit with a stomach bug on Thursday and have been on soup and bread since Thursday night. My birthday is tomorrow and DH and I are taking a cooking class (learning to make gnocchi!) so I really REALLY hope it clears up!!! Also hoping the weather is cooperative on Monday so we can drive up to Wisconsin for a little hiking and to load up on brats for the summer time. Hope everyone has a fantastic long weekend!!!

Yeah, i was bouncing around the 211.2-211.8 and saturday i was at 210.8... then dropped down 3 pounds today. It could be dehydration. I had a stomach bug and my allergies turned into a sinus infection and ear infection. I kept trying to pretend i felt fine, but finally just gave in over the weekend and spent most of it on the couch. I ate salty chips, chicken soup, and bread... so i'm guessing dehydration. whatevs.

so the 207.8 wasn't too much of a fluke. I've been totally re-hydrated and am at 208.8 today. My allergies have been horrendous. Like completely incapacitating. I've been doing everything i can think of... steamy showers/baths, eucalyptus oil, neti pot, saline spray, gargling with salt water, air purifier running, natural allergen drops from the health food store, all in addition to my allergy meds and finally, I don't feel SO bad. BUT my stomach is still messed up. I have been doing research and I am going the route of probiotics, which hopefully will help my digestive system and also help with allergies. I read that antacids and such can kill the good bacteria in your stomach and my issues started around the time i finished 2 weeks of Prilosec and had been popping antacids like crazy. Today I picked up some Kefir and individual probiotic yogurt drinks as well as kombuchi tea and some unfiltered apple cider vinegar. I'm going to be introducing these into my diet this week and hoping it rights my stomach problem. I have an appt. set with my allergist on the 9th (soonest I could get) and hopefully I can talk to her if things don't work out. anyone else still out there. Hope you have a good weekend!

sarcasticgirl--I'm with you on the allergies. I just moved from Florida to the midwest-thought I'd finally be able to exercise outside (cool temps, no humidity). NOPE! I tried today and came home with the worst sinus headache ever! I knew it would be bad as I stepped outside and could smell the flowers before I even got my door shut, but I tried anyway. I should have just headed to the air conditioned gym. But man, after awhile, I get tired of being inside all.day.long!

I am hoping to go for a walk tonight. I have been highly unmotivated the past several months. I am going to try for a walk/run most days. I need to put my fitbit back on so I can challenge myself to walk further each day.

Finished the month with 393291. Way below my goal of 425,000
Stated the month at 146.6 ended at 149. Backwards Ugh
Still not motivated for June. Not sure where to set my goal.
I am thinking of aiming for 425.000. The weather is nicer and hopefully will be able to get in some serious walks.
Need to get back into better eating habits.
I tried to do some core exercises and realized just how out of shape I am. Did 2 whole pushups.

Starting to get settled into a routine with work now. I have gone from a 2XL work shirt to a large (I can get the medium fastened, but it's a bit snug) and gone from size 14 work pants to size 12s (the 10s are a bit snug yet)
I am currently researching natural anti-inflammatories as my RA is really bothering me with work- but I love being back to work. Mr. Bear has been on me to make sure I take care of myself. I assured him that if I was still having too much problem when the decision had to be made, I would choose my health over my pride.
Hoping to get back into exercising regularly. I am on my feet 8+ hours a day and do a lot of regular lifting 25-40 pounds at work, so I need to keep myself healthy.
I miss everyone

I have to admit that I've never actually counted my calories but I read labels religiously and have a general idea of what I eat. I mainly eat whole fruits and vegetables, no meat, severly limit any kind of white carbs, etc. but with all the talk of My Fitness Pal I decided to try to track where I am protein-wise, how many carbs I AM eating by way of fruit/veg., etc. and wow, that is depressing! By mid-day I've almost reached my "limits" in most catagories!
I could live on fruit for breakfast, but now I see that there is WAY too much sugar in most of my favorites.
Carbs STILL rack up quickly even though I don't eat bread, rice, tortillas, etc. Huh, well, now I'm not so sure this was a good idea at all! I'll keep logging accurately for a couple of weeks and see where this leads, I guess.

emergency trip to the allergist today = 10 days of steroids. Dr promises that I'll be feeling "wonderful" soon! I can't even remember what the feels like.
My allergies are kicking my butt. Did I mention that I started getting a tingly numb mouth when eating fresh fruit and veg raw? yeah. apparently... allergies! my body is over overload trying to fight things off. it is doing crazy things. my mouth also feels like it has been scalded with hot water. totally raw. I guess the plus side is that it usually hurts to eat so i haven't been doing too much of that.

ners Great jobs on the steps... You may not have hit your goal, but you still did an awesome job! mizbear awesome job on the shrinkage. glad work is going well. greeniis10 I can rack up the carbs with fruits so easily too. It is way too easy to do. Today I weighed in at 20 pounds down from the first of the year. Not a huge loss, but it has been slow and consistent and I'm back down to my wedding weight from 2010... Looking forward to more progress!

So, I'm just going to jump on in here.... I have gained 30 lbs over the last 2 years + 3 months. Before that magic date I could loose 1-2 pounds a week whenever I wanted. Since then, I just can't get it figured out and keep creeping up. Probably stress, but also age (aka menopause). Not only have a I gained weight, but I am in terrible shape. This spring my work hours reduced and I've started walking again and hoping to get into an exercise routine. My goal is to loose 1 lb a week for the summer by eathing healthier and exercise. I am hoping that you all can provide some motivation and accountability. Here's my numbers: 6-May 174 13-May 174 20-May 177 27-May 173 3-Jun 173 10-Jun As you can see I'm not off to a good start, 174 was the heaviest I've ever been, and then I hit 177. Thanks for listening. I will update you next week on my progres.

crazylady14 -good luck with your plan. Just remember you did not gain all the weight overnight. Reducing the weight will take time.
It is not a sprint it is a marathon.

Oh I'm sad to see this thread so quiet! I just got back from a week long vacation and while things weren't awful, I'm not getting on the scale for a few days!! =) I think the time away gave me a much needed mental break!!
How's everyone doing?

Hey everyone. I just got back from 4 days of visiting family in Texas. I thought for sure that I'd gained about 5 pounds with the steroids I've been taking, but I stepped on the scale today and was only up 1 pound. That should be gone this week. I'm feeling somewhat human again... though still having trouble with my allergies. But I'm ready to keep rolling along. I need some upper body strength! need to get the arms toned!!! Should we do a 3 week challenge for june?!?!?! Lets get something rolling! welcome, crazylady14!!!!!

missk82 Oh, I didn't know that! What a small world. I have several friends that live in that area. I grew up on the northeast side... Humble/Kingwood area. I got bored and moved to Chicago about 8 years ago. Did you fill up on TexMex and BBQ like I did?
