This week kicked my ass. My work group of 8 is now a group of 6... no new hiring in the immediate future so of course we have to pick up the slack. My allergies are motherfreaking killing me right now and I feel craptastic 24/7. For the past 2 months it has been 2 steps forward and 2 steps back, which means I'm pretty much at a standstill. I think part of my issue is that I stopped taking my vitamin D... but the sun has not been out. I just realized yesterday that I'm feeling that constant lethargy and massive craving for carbs. So, back to supplements and someday... maybe someday that damn sun will come out and it will be warm!

I was bummed all of last week because my weight went back to 204. Did some moderate exercise and still ate too many sweets probably, but I did weigh-in at 201.2 today. So back to being semi-happy I guess! You and me both......weighed in at a very dehydrated 203.8 this am (water bottle at work smelled funky yesterday and I had no alternative) so so hear ya. I'm on the road most of this weekend, and plan to choose well while I'm out......but sometimes my options are all shitty. will hit the grocery store when I get home Sunday so I'm good for the week. sent from my electronic distraction

I got the results of my blood panel and I can see why I've felt so sluggish and fatigued, despite my best efforts. (aside from being slowly killed by my allergies)
Vitamin D- LOW, Vitamin b12- LOW, Iron- VERY LOW. Dr. says I need to start with supplements STAT. i stopped taking D a month or 2 ago. I used to take B12 but ran out and never bought more. I've never taken Iron before. I'm going to look into things I can add to or increase in my diet to get these levels up.
Also from my blood work- Cholesterol was 1 point above the normal range. yikes. Time to get that number back happily nestled into the middle of the normal range.
my steps have been crappy for the last week. I have been working tons and exhausted. Weekend was crazy busy- steps low, but I managed to get a lot of stuff done that involved physical activity. I'm not beating myself up over my shitty step total. I'm just hoping for a better week.
With my increased workload I've been having horrible muscle pains in my back and neck. The muscles are crazy tense and sore, other coworkers are having the same issue. sitting at the computer for 8-12 hours a day is a bitch. Anyway- we have someone who comes to our office and does massages on Monday and Fridays (we pay, of course- but don't have to leave the building) I'm treating myself to a 60 minute massage tomorrow, and I can't freaking wait.
that's my whining about what's going on with me. Hopefully I can get my vitamin levels back up this week and will start feeling better. Also- when I stopped doing my scheduled workouts, my husband stopped too... so I'm going back to it, in hopes that he will too.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

sarcasticgirl hope your work load gets under control and the supplements kick in. Perhaps making sure you get up and walk around several times a day will help.
After a very slow start to steps I managed to get in 15000 steps.

One goal accomplished!
Ran the Colorado half marathon - and FINISHED! 1200 out of 1500, but who cares, I made it to the finish line 6 months after having a baby. Two hours thirty five minutes later, I made it. Onward to the women's hockey tournament next weekend. First game Friday night, two games Saturday and, depending on how we finish, hopefully the championship on Sunday morning.
Argh, sarcastic, sounds like you need some vitamins! I was reading an article the other day that pointed out that low iron is common in underperforming female athletes. I am going to start seeing an osteopath who will do a complete physical instead of just my family doctor who tells me to lose weight but doesn't check anything besides what he can see. Hopefully I will get some answers to some nagging questions I have as well. Good luck with everything.

ners- I usually try too, but I've been too swamped. The more I walk around, the later I have to work. catch 22. genericname- congrats on the Half! got in 10k steps today, did about 20 minutes of core and back workouts and lots of stretching. I still feel like crap, but I did it anyway! had my massage today and every freaking muscle in my back, neck and arms was so tense. I feel better after, but kinda weak. going to really concentrate on getting my core strength back, building muscles and doing lots of stretching. picking up my vitamins tomorrow and hopefully I'll be start feeling better soon!

sarcasticgirl - sorry you feel so swamped at work, I days like that, I still try to get in a walk even if it just to the farther bathroom. I get the if I walk for 10 minutes I will have to work longer. If you are feeling miserable how productive are you. If you can not walk try to stretch even for minute to get your muscles in a different position.

Generic- wow, way to go!! I'm so impressed that you did a half marathon!
Ners- way to go on your perseverence keeping that step count high!!
Sarcastic - sorry about your terrible levels! hope the vitamins help! I finally scheduled a physical for June, so I'm curious how that will go.
I had a so-so weekend. We didn't get a walk in because we were just too busy, but at least i wasn't just sitting on the couch. I ate so-so also. Mostly good - when we went out to eat, I ordered grilled chicken and potatoes although I really wanted a burger and fries. But I did eat a brownie, 2 Oreos and a chocolate chip cookie over the course of the weekend as well. So I haven't weighed myself lately because I want to give myself time to get that off, heehee. Yesterday we took a 3 mile walk and I ended up under my calorie goal!! Yay!!
Who else uses myfitnesspal? I remember y'all talking about it...

yay generic! congrats on your half marathon! sarcasticgirl - listen to your doc. I take a B-12 complex plus 1000 IU of D daily, and i still find myself craving spinach-dressed cheeseburgers (I haven't eaten red meat past "everything other than the big chunks" ski slope chili since HS....) when I'm ridiculously anemic. I try to make sure I have both spinach and mushrooms in my regular diet, as both provide Vitamin D.

Thanks chiver- I don't eat red meat either. I am not huge on mushrooms but I have been trying to get more spinach in... And beans/lentils for more iron.

Spinach can actually leech iron from your system if you don't have another nutrient with it... I'm thinking Vitamin C? But I could be making that up in a wine/sudafed haze. (Don't judge. I hate my life so much right now.)

back to the dr. today... awful stomach issues which had me only able to eat bread, rice and potatoes... unless I wanted to feel like shit. On a round of meds. Cross your fingers this works... otherwise things will have to get more invasive. A And you can't drop pounds, have energy or feel decent at all when you're on a diet of simple carbs!!!

Summary of last week. Low energy not enough steps.
I thought I had to pick up the pace last week.
Now I really have to pick up the pace if I want to reach my goal of 425,000 steps for the month.
Hope to get in over 15,000 today.
Hope all of you have a great day!!

I HEAR CRICKETS IN HERE!!!
c'mon guys, summer is coming, we've gotta get our motivation back!
meds from the doctor have been working! I am so happy to be able to eat food again. And the bloating as gone WAY down. SCORE! I've been really watching my intake and today I stocked up on produce and currently have a huge pot of minestrone bubbling away.
I got some veggies and herbs planted for my "urban garden" on the balcony. I can't wait for things to start growing.
The warm sunny weather has given me such a boost! oh, and my birthday is in two weeks... EEK!!! miracles need to happen for me to get to my goal, but... maybe it is possible!
hope everyone had a great weekend!

I've been eating and drinking like a jackass, still.....and have ticked back up a couple pounds. the stress of having an active MLS listing hasn't helped any - I came home yesterday to an unlocked front door. the later of two showings yesterday had been four hours before. I hosted my parents, and sis/BIL for brunch today. I ate way more than I needed to, and took a nap after everyone left. I woke up to put the kitchen back to listing shape, and nuke a couple things from the freezer. the veggies had "natural smoke flavor" that fucking stunk up my kitchen bad enough for me to spray Febreze. I ended up adding the portion of rotisserie chicken that I'd thawed onto a DiGiorno pizza. I try to keep one in the freezer most of the time for nights like tonight. I had half, will package the rest up for leftovers. if I get to them or not, whatever. I spent $5 at Walmart, I'm not overly worried about tossing leftovers. what I'm hoping to do this week is break bad habits. I generally have a couple beers at both volleyball and trivia (M,T,Th) which are all just empty calories. going to bring a water bottle to vball tomorrow night, and go from there. oh, and I have a hockey tournament next weekend. so that's at least 3 games in 48h, 4 if we make the finals.

199.8!!! 199.8!!! I broke 200 for the first time in months and months!!!! I know it might bounce back up a time or two, but just to see it is soo motivating! I've been plodding along the past two weeks, doing so-so with my eating choices. And I've actually been exercising less - baby had an ear infection so we weren't taking him out, it was stormy in the evenings, etc etc. But two changes I have made over the past 2 weeks may have helped : I started eating eggs instead of oatmeal for breakfast, and I started eating salads with chicken breast for lunch. I will get back to exercising - last night I walked and jogged 1.5 miles and did some weights. I felt really good! I actually got the treadmill up to 4 mph, lol. Yay! Ok everyone, come back! Let's keep rolling!!

awesome missk82!!! I've been trucking along... being killed by work and the "Pollen vortex"- allergies are making life miserable. scale is moving in the right direction... stomach bloating has gone down since the stomach meds from the dr. kicked in. and I haven't had any stomach issues since i've been taking the meds. YAY!

Good deal sarcastic! I know you will be even more motivated once you start feeling better!
My sister finally had enough of her killer allergies and went to an allergist today. she thought the process was crazy/funny with all of the pinpricks on her back, but she is so relieved to finally have a serious solution for her allergies. She sounds like you - they were hampering enjoyment of EVERYTHING. Turns out she's allergic to grasses, ragweed, and some trees.
Are you having normal allergies or should you see an allergist?

I have an allergist. I take 3 prescription medications... It is just so horrible this year! I'm going to ask about shots, which is something my allergist had mentioned in the past. I was on fire last week, but the allergies have slowed me down (and the crappy rainy cold weather!). Hoping I can get a shot and get back to business. My birthday is only 9 days away I have to drop 5 pounds in that time to make the goal i set for myself

Have been unmotivated few days.
Need to get back on track.
I do not think I will be getting monthly step goal as I am already behind and will traveling in the next week and may not be able to get in the necessary steps. Well off to take a walk.

Sorry ners! I know I am not too much help in motivation since my steps haven't been up there. :-( crappy allergies and rainy cold weather.
Have all my veggies chopped for salads this week... Will have DH grill up some chicken breasts for me. Made some oat banana blueberry muffins w/ flax for DH. May be stealing some this week because they are mighty tasty! Oh... And I whipped up a spinach and orange smoothy- yum. I will do this a couple times a week to help with iron.
