Yeah, at this point I'm not expecting results yet - but the zero deviation thing is really weird. 180.8. Every morning. Without fail. Bizarre!

Acemom...my husband use to tell me i held my breath while exercising. Now i sort of count out loud which makes me breathe. Did you get headaches? No headaches, but I'd get winded with the simplest exercises.

Chiver, I certainly don't do it on purpose! I actually like to breathe! I just focus too much I guess, LOL. I will have to start counting out loud to make sure I'm breathing! Weighing in - I get on the scale every morning, but don't "officially" weigh in until Saturday or Sunday morning. Next weigh in won't be until Monday though becuase I'll be out of town this weekend. BTW - could everyone in Chicago please keep your snow to a minimum this weekend? Thanks

You're in luck acemom- it is actually warming up this weekend. We should be in the 20s! I hope you leave before monday, cause monday is supposed to be brutally cold... AGAIN.

Sarcastic - I'm leaving Sunday afternoon, but when I looked at the weather, it said up to 80% chance for tomorrow evening, right round when I will be arriving I'll be ok once I get there though! You all are pros with snow! Good news about my trip is that my friend I am visiting is doing my other challenge with me so I won't be slacking off! And we are planning to go out dancing Saturday night so I will get an extra cardio workout. Just have to burn enough to balance the beverages

Are you flying in? It shouldn't be too bad, they can handle moderate snow and I don't think we're supposed to be getting a substantial amount. At this point anything that doesn't come at a rate of an inch an hour doesn't phase me. Enjoy your visit. Chicago is such a fantastic city. I plan on being a hermit all weekend because I'm just about at my wits end with this muther#&*%ing winter

Okay... I'm a pathedic 5'1'' and 159 lbs.... (I don't think I have a tiny frame... but who knows considering I'm THIS heavy...) The chart online says I should be 95-116 lbs.... is that realistic ?

Ambellamy...just pay attention to how you feel. Everyone's body is different!
Bsbound...did my challenge already tonight. Any ideas on why i have such a hard time with crunches? I do know my core is weak, but the crunches hurt my neck, and feels like I'm straigning my wind pipe!

Happy- check your form. And you may have to do a particular type of crunch or sit up.
I am so cold it hurts. I have the heat set on 66 or 68, but it is that freakin cold right now. To think the cold never used to bug me.

Way to go everyone!
Happy prose - I agree with mizbear on your form. In order to maintain proper form, I try to aim my head to the ceiling rather than my knees - and I don't put my hands behind my neck, I just touch my ears with my fingers. You can find videos of various crunch styles online, maybe that will help you.
ETA: I'm finished with my crunches and also 20 min of cardio on "fat burn" on the elliptical. Now on hold with Comcast because my internet is wonky. And apparently according to their system I missed a payment... Time to figure out what happened to the auto-pay... MotherF*cker.

BSB- Comcast drives me to drink. That has happened to me more than once... I miss a payment because the auto pay randomly turns off. I hate dealing with them ugh

I've been avoiding this thread just like I've been avoiding my scale, but this morning I decided to face the music. Pleasantly surprised with 1.8 pounds down making a total of 4.8 pounds since... December-ish? Thanksgiving? Not sure, and really just thrilled the scale is moving in the right direction. I have silly associations with certain weights. Like today I'm a half pound lighter than I was at sil's wedding in June. Will hopefully pop in more often. Sent from my ADR6410LVW using proboards

raeoflyte - you're welcome any time! I'm also recruiting people to be part of our core challenge - every day we post a very short core workout (3-5 min) and there are like 5 of us doing it right now. I'm hoping to peer pressure more into joining. (Peer pressure peer pressure peer pressure.) Way to go on the loss!

Good morning all. I did not do any exercises last night. My BF and I had a very, very long in depth talk about a lot of things and where we are heading and what we want/need from each other. I think it was a very good, productive conversation, so I don't feel too bad about missing a day. Today is supposed to be my "rest day" for my other challenge, so I will just do yesterday's workout today. Sarcastic - I am driving from Cincinnati. It looks like Sunday will be an issue getting back... Maybe I will get stranded in Chicago and won't be able to come back to work!! What kind of shots were you doing? I plan on having some if I ever make it to Chicago tonight! Fireball is in my future! raeoflyte and ambellamy - welcome!!!

Yay! I lost 1.4 pounds this week!! I am inching ever so close to getting under 200...this will be the week!!
Good news- I remembered to do the core challenge. bad news - my DH said something that I perceived as snarky, I got huffy, we argued, then we were ok. But I did not finish the challenge. As you can see, I'm a bit sensitive about all this... He was interested in doing it with me, so maybe we will try again tonight!

Missk - making DH do the core challenge with me has been fun! Also, it's awesome to see him huffing and puffing, like he thought it was so easy...
Also, by my math you lost 1.6 lbs since last friday?

Yep! Well maybe 1.6 over the past 2 weeks since I didn't lose any the previous week. I think only eating out once helped. The previous weekend we ate out 3 times.

Good morning, ladies! Not much to report here, no gym for me today (although I do hear that freezing one's tailfeathers off burns extra calories), just wanted to offer a "Way to go!" to one and all who are making progress and a "Hang in there!" to those who feel like they aren't.
I need to add weights/a circuit workout to my regimen but have no idea how to get started. I used the weight machines at the gym years ago and all I remember is that after a couple of weeks I hurt EVERYWHERE. I'd rather stick to free weights/body weight workouts if possible. This is probably asking for more info than I can handle but any suggestions?

Does anyone ever get this thing where- they are motivated yet unmotivated... They want to do it, but there is some nagging (and usually stupid) excuse that gets in their way?
If so, how do you combat these excuses?
I am not talking about the "real Life" stuff- sick kids, snow @$$ high to a 10 foot Indian, no energy, been sick pulled muscles stuff.
I mean your 200 pound mother attempting your yoga poses or getting tired of being bombarded with questions by her about your workout because your room is actually being used for school, not wanted to be watched or bothered sort of stuff...

I'll bet the kids would get a kick out of me doing core exercises on the living room floor.

This is always my problem. I don't know how to get around it though. At some point something just clicks and I'm ready to do things. But I'm always just waiting for that moment to hit. I realized last night was it for me because ds wanted to order a pizza for dinner, so I did--but didn't order my pizza. Just the one dh and ds like and I ate 1 slice. Wasn't even excited about it, just needed something easy I could eat one handed.

I hit the 5:30 am bootcamp class at my work this morning! came home all sweaty! Now I feel accomplished. Here's my little mini fitness plan. My first mini goal is to hit 145, which would be 15 lbs. This way things will feel much more do-able. - Take 1 Boot-camp class a week.
- 30 minute treadmill jog (no walking)
- 4 mile walk/jog outside once a week.
If I do more, that's great... but this is my plan for the next few weeks.
