I am tagging everyone here bc the office was sold & I'll be out of work 10/15/14. Others will be let go 10/31/14. So I don't know if someone wants to take this over now or end of year. If I have to go on UI, I won't be saving Ombud, I am so thankful that you were willing to take this on when I was at a really busy point in my life. I can do it again, if/when you need a break.

Hmmm, clearly something is very wonky with my table right now. I'll go see if I can make some sense of what I did wrong. The bottom line is, though, looking good.

Goal change I am making slight adjustments again to reflect reality! But then that means I am on track for the end of the year! dvm07 8/14/14 8167.89 (1/1/14=$0 Goal=$12,000)The big jump is because I decided to shove "saved" money--not accounted for in the spread sheet--into my ROTH and max that earlier in the year rather than later. Fund | Goals | Saved YTD | % Met | Roses | General Savings | $2,000 | $890.17 | 44.5% | | Roth IRA | $5,500 | $4,900.00 | 89.1% | | Gifts | $400 | $243.45 | 60.9% | | Taxes | $1,200 | $804.95 | 67.1% | | House needs | $600 | $220.37 | 36.7% | | Travel | $2,000 | $1,108.95 | 55.4% | | Total | $11,700 | $8,167.89 | 69.8% | |

Sugilite Major Update ~ I'm redirecting my focus, I'm going long term and I'm revamping my numbers.
Saving Funds | GOALS | CURRENT | % SAVED | WOO HOO | TV Fund | $554 | $100 | 18% | ? | Moving Fund | $2300 | $150 | 7% | ? | Mattress Fund | $2446 | $150 | 6% | ? | GRAND TOTAL | $5300 | $400 | 8% | ? |
Sugilite - 8/16/2014, $400 - [NEW GOAL - $5300] =
This is no longer just a moving emergency fund, but I'm adding on a new TV and new mattress/boxspring onto this as well. I want it completed by December 2015.

I like that DVM and Sugilite are revising their goals.
Revisions (whether up or down) reflect financial awareness. You're paying attention and thinking about it. It's a good thing.

WOW... so much has changed in 1/2 a year... For starters, all our savings goals are bust because i'm PREGNANT so we are going to be spending money we had set aside for this years Roth IRA's on re-doing our condo to make room for the baby... but I figured I should probably pop my head in and at least take a look at what we did accomplish this year thus far: 2013 Roth IRA (Hubs) | 100% DONE Goal: $5,500.00 (Starting: $0.00) Now: $5,500.00 Emergency Fund | 100% DONE Goal: $12,500.00 (Starting: $12,250.00) Now: $12,500.00 Car Emergency Fund | 20% finished Goal: $1,000.00 (Starting: $0.00) Now: $200.00
2014 Roth IRA (Mine) Goal: $5,500.00 (Starting: $0.00) Now: $0.00
2014 Roth IRA (Hubs) Goal: $5,500.00 (Starting: $0.00) Now: $0.00Ambellamy: 8/21/14 $5,950.00 (1/1/14 $0, WIRS1)Since we live in a one bedroom condo and aren't planning to move (despite a few odd looks from people who think just because you have a kid you have to move to a larger place)... we have been spending our weekends building IKEA furniture with the hopes of emptying out our walk-in closest to make it into a baby nursery... So we have more money saved than i'm listing here, but until we finish the work to the condo, i'm not going to report it here until I know we won't be touching it. We also had 2 car repairs this year that were both over $700 so we hit our savings goal for the car, then had to spent it, hit it again, spent it, so now we have just built $100 a month into our budget each month to save up for these expenses. so I may not hit the goal by the end of the year, but its good to have it built into our budget now

Sugi, I also spend a ton on supplements. Calcium, magnesium, Co Q 10, etc. An arm and a leg, basically. I try to hit the BOGO sales; it seems either CVS or Walgreen's has a BOGO sale just about every week. Sometimes I can get supersized ones (like "an extra 20 tablets!") and if I can get the BOGOs on those, it's a happy day.
ambellamy, congratulations! You've got a good EF going, and you got your 2013 Roth done so really, I think you're doing pretty well. I'm sure your condo will be big enough in the short term. Once babies start accumulating stuff (and you'd be amazed how much stuff that is!) and they start to become mobile, you might get cramped a bit. Just be prepared, everything you think you know about babies and kids can fly out the window once you're actually there. Sounds like your Plan A is well in hand. Maybe just anticipate that Plan B might come around the corner sooner than you think. I'd suggest you don't do anything to the condo that might make it less marketable when it comes time to sell. Save the closet door, shelves, closet rod, and so forth, and don't build anything (like a changing table) into the closet walls. If you're not already hanging out on the WIR Kids and Pregnancy thread, you might find some advice there about how people manage the space issues (and a multitude of other issues as well).
Save on, ladies!

Serious this time, $35,434, 8/15/14 ($0, 1/1/14, Goal $51,258)
The numbers look good, but I'm including contributions to my retirement and most of my sinking funds.
I'm taking over for Ombud starting September 1. I probably won't update the smileys until the weekend after the 1st, so plan ahead and get your updates posted.

I found an online supplement supplier right here in Ontario with me. I was paying a fortune every month when I shopped at Shoppers Drug Mart. So now I just mail in an order and I get it in 4 days. It's even free shipping if it's over $79 cdn. So I'm happy with my find.
You know just 30 tablets at Shoppers Drug Mart was costing me $51.99, while 60 tablets of this exact same drug now costs me $46.99 at my online source and they throw in free shaker cups and 180 gel tabs of vitamin D.
My Online Source ships to the USA - www.nationalnutrition.ca/default.aspx

Should I save my overtime checks or pay debt. I'm thinking I'll use my regular paycheck and save the rest.

Hello, I'm a member on the WIRRacer south board. I've been reading your thread, & working on goals for saving and how to set it up. For now it's time to go to work, but I feel better just getting myself introduced, the procrastination on joining the savers is over . I hope to do my first financial post tonight.

And two savers who've met their goal! 2014 Hall of FameThis month Rocky Mtn Saver joins Ombud in meeting goal! Rocky Mtn Saver, you mentioned you were going to increase your goal. In that case, your new goal will be in the chart next month. Otherwise you'll be listed below the chart in our Hall of Fame! One Saver is back with us -- the always-impressive ambellamy!!! Welcome back, and let me know if I calculated your revised goal correctly (it was not in your tag line). And another Saver has joined us -- welcome forwardwego! I tried my best to get the stars and smilies right. Let me know if I missed anyone's update or calculated stars and smilies wrong. I went with Ombud's update at the end of July and went from there, so if you had a post that crossed paths with Ombud's last update, I'll need to make a correction. Great month, Savers!
