I get my personal care products in fancy foo-foo stores, so no coupons there. I get my toothpaste and some of the cleaning products in TJ And thanks to the wonders of waxing, I don't use too much shaving stuff

Since I won't go for it for myself, I'm pretty sure my 12 year old isn't going to want to wax her legs instead of shave them. I think it's just time for another "you only need to use THIS much" announcement for shower products. lol

I've had full body laser hair removal, so I don't have to shave. However, DD appears to be a hairy little monkey and I will be buying her hair removal products in a few years.
I wonder if I can get her to sit through laser hair removal treatments?

The only thing that has helped me is to meal plan.
We go out to eat once a month and lunch twice a month.
Food is around 450 a month for me a pre teen and younger boys.
One has to be Gluten free for Celiacs so that has up'd the budget and I have to plan more now to make sure he has options.

I don't wax anymore, but somehow all that waxing made my hairy legs much less harrier.
And I have no daughters!

That part always amazed me - how can people predict what they will want to eat and then actually eat it....
I need to come up with more flexible version of meal planning

Mine is "look in the freezer before bed and pull something out and put it in the fridge to defrost".
Chicken is good because it can be prepared so many ways. As long as I have the ingredients on hand I can change my mind from "baked chicken" to "curried chicken" without skipping a beat.

I plan to have certain ingredients for particular meals but that's as far as I get. Now I need to get the leftover situation under control. Time for more "whatever falls out of the fridge" nights.

I need to come up with more flexible version of meal planning I don't plan meals like "Monday is salad, Tues is hamburger". Rather I plan 8-10 of DH's favorites, write them down, have the ingredients. That day I ask him, "Do you want X, Y or Z for dinner?" And make that. Or sometimes I don't ask him. I make what sounds good to me...

That's how I do it too. It took me awhile but I have things set up so I can make just about anything. New recipes need to preferably be ones where I already buy most of the ingredients. If not the new stuff needs to be perishables that'll get used up or things I can incorporate into my pantry to be used later. That way if we hate the new recipe the stuff I bought doesn't go to waste. I changed my mind two times already this week and it's been a non-issue since I already have everything on hand to make something else.

Actually, cleaning products and paper products - I don't spend that much on it. Must be cause I don't clean that much It's food $$$ that are just crazy high Lol! I don't do much spending on those items either, but the shampoo/conditioner/deodorant/shaving supplies are killing me. I use coupons when I can find them but I don't have them every time I'm out of something. my DH gets his razors/blades from here www.dollarshaveclub.com/ He has a beard so he doesn't use them often... so I have taken to stealing from him and they work great. Also, cheap conditioner like suave makes a great shaving gel for women. or my personal favorite- coconut oil, but boy does it make a mess!

I can usually skip lotion for a few days if I use conditioner to shave.

And that cheap conditioner goes in my hair How do you not break your neck using coconut oil in the shower?! I do use it after the shower.

We too have a "regular line-up" of about 15 or so meals we really like, and we keep the ingredients around for when time is short or the mood strikes. Double and triple batch cooking also helps keep meal selection flexible. It absolutely takes some concentrated time and energy to develop (and maintain) a pantry and a freezer, but at least to us it's worth it when you hit the front door starving at 6:30 and don't feel like cooking for two hours.

I also bought myself an electric shaver (like the flat head kind) to use during the winter because my skin gets so insanely dry. If i use a razor it itches for DAYS no matter how much i moisturize. So no razors needed for like 5-6 months out of the year!

I need to come up with more flexible version of meal planning I don't understand the problem. I know a lot of things I like to eat, each week I plan on eating 7 of those things for dinner and 7 of those things for lunch.

I need to come up with more flexible version of meal planning do you not have a few meals that you have regularly? DH and I come up with a list of meals we might want for the week, and I'll get any ingredient I might not already have. we have flexible meals like- buffalo chicken wraps, which could become mexican chicken tacos or even chicken quesadillas, same main ingredients just different proportions and seasonings. Things like chicken and veggies, it can be grilled chicken with different seasonings, or breaded with panko or seared and baked or i'll whip up a pan sauce for it. pork roast- can be cooked with veggies as a roast, or turned into pulled pork for tacos or put on baked potatoes etc. We keep the same basic ingredients in the house... and they can change wildly in flavor depending on cooking method and seasoning. I have an obscene spice cabinet.

Also, my kids are still trying out things, so I can plan and plan and plan, but... Like last week I made lasagna for the first time. They love pasta, they love cheese, so for sure I thought they would like it. They HATE IT. So, I had to come up with 2 more alternatives dinners.

I second that . Kids are so frustrating when it comes to eating. My youngest stepson only ate 2 or 3 different meals when he came to stay with us on the weekends. It sounds like you have the opposite problem. I think there are plenty of websites devoted to kid food type cooking and, look on the bright side, you and your husband will have plenty of leftover lasagna to eat.

He does cook. Except for the stove part. He would actually cook more if I let him. And he is the easiest to feed.
I really can't complain too much, my kids are fairly easy eaters, but there are times when it's hit or miss.

Do I understand you made each kid a separate dinner. LGW was a finicky eater. The deal was that she had what we were having or she had a peanut butter sandwich. I'm not running a restaurant here. I don't remember having a choice when we had dinner. I ate what was made. Unless I really, really didn't like it but that rarely happened and it was usually only one of the three items served.

Allowing DS to help cook has made him more adventurous in his eating. Having him chop is scary bit he's so happy! I've noticed the same with my SO. He used to be suspicious of everything I cooked and wouldn't eat vegetables, but just last week he helped me prepare a vegetable soup and he gobbled it up. Of course I have had to endure some strange creations; he will try to throw random vegetables in anything, like carrots, peas and green beans in pasta sauce, just no.
