yup, my sis is at the other end of the spectrum. I can't wrap my brain around how she manages to get as lost as she does sometimes. I can count on one hand the number of times in my life that I was lost enough to have to call someone to get me out of where I was.

Yeah that's my sis too, the one that lives upstairs.

I do everything left handed except play golf and the use of a computer mouse. Voting? Even with voting-most often the left but on occasion, the right.

This is interesting and back in the day DH would get so annoyed with me because I was horrible at reading a map. He would end up pulling over and have to look at it himself. I have to turn the map in whatever direction we are going to help even a little bit and he will just look at me like I'm nuts.
He can walk out of any large building though and go the opposite direction of where the car is parked. So we are even.

I went to Catholic schools in the50s and 60s. Other than occasionally sprinkling us lefties with holy water and making the sign of the cross, the nuns left us alone
When my grandmother was in school the nuns used to walk around and smack kids using their left hands with a ruler. So my grandmother ended up amidexterous.

Our grammar school nuns had some type of 'clicker' gizmo. They would click ìt to get our attention. This clicker had some type of giant walnut shaped thing near the top. It was the walnut part they used to whack our knuckles when we were acting up. It hurt.

I had a piano teacher who would smack me with a ruler if I let my wrist drop. I got fed up one day and took it away from her and smacked her hand. Needless to say my days of piano lessons ended. Has nothing to do with nuns and being left handed but it brought back that memory. Wish I had had a picture of her face when the tables were turned.

Hardwired differences between men and women... good to know it isn't sexist anymore to say that most men are better than most women at some tasks, and that most women are better than most men at other tasks.

I definitely believe that male and female brains are wired differently; DH's and mine are. However, I think they are confusing things. I thought that the common belief was that men had a better sense of direction, not that they were better at reading maps. Whenever we traveled away from home, DH did the majority of driving, and I was the map reader. DH is much more likely to just wing it. I do agree that mapquest is not to be trusted. DS2 got into an accident because he was looking for a street that mapquest told him would connect 2 parallel streets. Unfortunately, that block of the street no longer existed; it had had a building built over it.

I can read maps quite well. My Dad taught us kids at a very young age how to read a map, as we would roadtrip to visit different relatives. I still prefer a paper map to the newer electronic toys. I've talked with too many people who've gotten burned by MapQuest. I always bring a paper map when on the road. Our navigating system has screwed up way too often.

I have gotten lost in my own town. We have 2 stop lights. My sense of direction is that bad. I can print out google map directions & get to where I need to be. I can't reverse the directions & get back home. If I'm navigating & I say turn right, you 99% of the time, should turn left. I have about a 5 mile circle I drive. Outside of that, I'm a passenger. I can't even find the mall.

But have had some really good experiences when lost so I just accept it as a fact of my life!!! I could sit here all day and type in the "misteps" I have taken!!
