Why do you say it is a state worker's protest and it does not affect other Unions? You realize that Unions from all over the country were in Madison on Friday. Read more:
www.notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=politics&action=display&thread=3640&page=4#ixzz1EeToVeF1I know and saw the head of the AFL/CIO and Teamsters Unions in Madison trying to fire up the crowds. But Governor Walker said on Fox News yesterday his problem is with the state workers union in Wisconsin and not the other unions in this country. And that was one of the reasons he wants to eliminate all collective bargaining in Wisconsin...Other governors are not trying to eliminate collective bargaining in their states but they are watching what happens in Wisconsin on this issue as you can imagine..

"He says that the Benefits have too big an effect on the budgets and the Localities need to know that their budgets are set when they are drawing up a budget"
I really have a hard time with this guy...ok , so he doesn't use planes and tanks against them, though the thing with the national Guard...next possible.
.
It's one thing to have convictions about things, it's another when you try to run rough shod over the ones you represent and use the fear of . "down the road we will be faced with these problems so we have to deal with them, these possible problems ..yadda, yadda"
He uses the argument, when he was out talking to the "People" they were upset with the public employees yadda , yadda and uses that as his excuse.
Those were deals politicals made , benefits of the workers, their screw up, plus the "People" being unhappy with the public employee's , possible jealousse of others? Known to happen. You use the feelings of the "oublic " as your excuse.
Why did those politicals make such deals in the past. It was mentioned on a radio show today. A group, union, gives support to a candidate in his run for office. He wins, now the one who was supported has tio negotiate with a group who put him in office, possible doesn't negotiate so hard.
Proof is with this Governor. All public employees are to affected , EXCEPT the three unions that supported him, they are exempt. Coincidence?? Come on people, but this is how the it got to this point, the high benefits, and as he showed with the exemption, he is also playing the same political game, support me, I take care of you, you don't , you get the shaft right up the......
The unions he is after gave him ALL that he asked for to solve the current problem, his own making by the way , cuts for the businesses with no thought on how to make them up, tax cut revenues, except possible back of his mind, we will get from the State workers, except those workers, unions, {3} who supported me and mine to get this job, will exempt them , but the rest..
Now that he has that, and a 8 % cut in pay , which it will be when they pay their higher contributions for the benefits , 8 % , ask all here , figure it out for your self if working..8 % cut in pay is hefty, but the Governor is now going for the future possible problems ?...and the most important thing, breaking the unions...
I never in my working life belonged in a union, yet I believe in the sanctity of them as a important tool for workers who want them and his proposals, it will break them.
That is not the type of leader I want to be in office.
The reason the federals and states are heavy with worker representation is that back in the day, public employees were abused by what ever political party came to power. Job losses, not because of cause but because of party affiliation.
I am not talking the heads of departments were it is common to have movement when political parties change position. I mean the career civil servant, the average Joe/Jane behind the desk..their jobs were always being threatened and being given to others..for political reasons.
Because of the abuse new laws were passed to protect those workers, both in Washington and then the states.
Would I TRUST States Leadership , Governors ..not on ,your life.
Changes have to be made because of times, bad deals in the past, fine , then deal with them.
Here in WI , it was SOLVED but to take away future bargaining rights and put ones FAITH in the hands of a POLITICIAN, with out controls..you have to be kidding, and thats regarding all the parties and politicians.
If they can hold out..hope they can and to be honest , I think those folks , Democratic legislators, should go into hiding.
If he can kidnap them by force to get them back he will..no more interviews..go underground deeply, and if it takes six months..so be it, there is so much at stake here, and if it embarrasses the Governor if he doesn't get his way..tough, suck it up and admit , you screwed up
