We need all of the Fossil Fuels and Alternative energy sources we can lay our hands on. You should go to ADM'S website and look at all of the By-products of corn after they get all of the Ethanol out of it. You would find that there is not very much waste left. We really are not burning our food. Ty, I was just posting about the last two words of the Subject:"Taxpayers Subsidies". Must of them are very good.. Like Education.. We forget about the land Grant Universities .. Like Texas A&M university!!! Or the Rail Roads from The left Cost to the East Coast. How can you forget the Vegetable Express!! How about those Cross by TAMU for Japanese Deer and Elk!!! Just a corn for real hunting .. every "Deelk" has horns.. We have some real interesting stores about the next generation B.Braunii Race B development. At 25 PPB Iron.. They will make all the nitrogen they need freee vs the amount of needed to be used by core producers... Just think of the methane we can save!!!Just a thought, Bruce See the male Elk?? Attachments:

Ty, Problem is on the other end..Corn takes a lot of Ammonia vs Algae that can fix it own Ammonia if it has enough Fe. OK it helps to add Amonia but for the test Algaie can do it ok if it has lot of PO4 and FE+++ . Oil from algae can use none productive rocks and waste land just as well as deep black rich riverbottom.. In fact it can produce better land with time..
Just a thought, Bruce

Wouldn't it be safer to re-organize our civilization to reverse automobile-reliant sprawl, go up and central with dedicated Ag belts, wilderness and a grid of multi-distance transit lines? We have spent quite a lot repairing roads that will be used less as gas prices rise. We bailed big auto and all we got is a Volt and the highest un-accounted-for unemployment in history. The American infrastructure is aged and losing integrity. We have the technology and ability to be far more efficient. Indeed... corn for ethanol is weighing on feed prices, but localized refineries were crushed by Dubya (pulled the Marysville facility down- it made fuel from local waste we otherwise pay to truck away). Corn parts alone are not the only bio-fuel resource. A blend of component fuels and a motor that swaps out in minutes (read: efficient not stylish vehicle) is very possible.
Think it through... the SPECULATION of Mideast Chaos has crashed the whole market more than 200 points already, more coming AND hiked gas pump prices more than 20% in 24 hours. It's all about Big Oil controlling too much so we are force-reliant on them. Let's solve all of our crises at once and eliminate the influence of Texas on the whole of America.

Pull back the sheets on "Big Oil" and look who really has controlling ownership! Let's fight the real enemy's and not ourselves.

VL, we have the largest Reserves of oil in the World. This Country sucks when it comes to energy policies. We could be totally independent from anyone in the World, even become a Exporter of oil and gas. Take a look at the Shale areas of NA and you will see a BOOM going on with tons of NEW JOBS and more on the way. WE need more oil and gas pipelines and storage facilities. A few more refinery's in place, back to cheaper prices at the pumps. It's a WIN WIN for us all the way around.

Ty, My mother said it best... Drain The Middle East First then when Petroleum Oil is as pricey as Olive Oil.. WE Win~! Now for Food,, It takes energy or does it take a lot of money for hand production? We can automate production with long cords and computers!!! Use tracks and xyz like the robots that fill drug orders... It is all about size and bigger is better.. Like the next generation Nuclear power plants from Bechtel. Bruce

I did that when I was 12 at the Bronx Zoo now I want to do it big time with some real interesting equipment. I used to shot a long bow ( 68 inch) with a huge pull.. Never did take it hunting but that was before the days of extra days for deer.. Good way to get extra money for the ranchers. Bruce Attachments:

We are paying a premium for Brent and Gas prices are based on the Brent price. You may like giving your money away but I Don't. JMO

JMO Due to my lifestyle, energy expenses are a very small % of my yearly costs. My agreement with Bruce was merely a very long term outlook. I cannot change the spread between WTI and Brent. All I can do as an individual is use less energy. It's the only thing that reduces demand. This I already do by choice. Everyone else seems to conserve when forced by price. No wonder the price is high.

Just a thought.. The New Yorkers from the city are the first to complain about food prices yet they did not say a word when farm income was cut in half. They did not care.. The average farmer makes 25% the wages of the average back office trader from the Federal Reserve bank... I have a friend that is from the Netherlands and has some 100 cows. He makes cheese and about $125,000/ for an 7/24 ---89 hours work week. Vs $410,000 for the president of NYFRB. Who was talking about farm income when prices were cheap? Like deer corn The numbers I have for farming is the Medium Farmer makes about $22,500/Year (2009).. What is the medium brokers total income??? Now to banksers.. The average local bank is hanging on and the big banks are making a killing with cheap Fed Money.. Where do we get the Corn feed beef from for the beef at 21 clubs?? or is that Charlie's 21 Club!!!

We need more to grow more food and algae.. The water needs more iron...sink more ships in the Tidal waters for make more fish food and algae... ;D so Al Gore.. How much methane does an Elephant expel per 24 hours.. Here is my methane reducing plan!!! Now we can feed an African Family of 12 for 12 months if they have an Servell methane fired freezer.. It is all about American Production.. 30-06 Winchester Model 70 cost about $700..458 Mag about $1,200 30-06 single shot from Merkel cost about $1,900. ( Hammered barrel) 458 Ruger ! cost about $1280,,,, also Hammered barrel 470 db Merkel $18,899 so you take your son hunting for elephants.. take two 45/70 at $600 each and save the $$$ or take Al Gore and give him a Left wing liberal Sako Norma 308 Magnum and one shot.. ( Joking..After all he invented the Internet.. ) Attachments:

If my math is right, ethanol is produced in the US at a rate of 861k barrels a day. In the current market, the loss of production could be absorbed, but 3 years ago when the world surplus of oil was supposedly only 1 mil/day, that would have made for a nasty situation. We are now locked in to this path for a while. Recognizing this, the government either needs to pull subsidies or tax gas extra to cover the subsidies. Instead of borrowing money to pay for this policy, push the true cost onto the consumers of the product and let the car buying decisions dictate their net fuel costs.
*edit*.. Now that I think about it, 861k barrels of refined ethanol is really 1.7million barrels of unrefined crude equiv... The impact is even greater than I first thought when it comes to vehicle fuel.

MMC, Also, We will see more Butanol aka N-Butanol being produced from switch grass. Butanol can be shipped via Pipeline and has about the same energy and Octane as 91 octane Gasoline. It is not acid and can also be used up to 35% in Jet Fuel or #2 diesel.. Dupont has made Butanol from WWI for the production of smokeless gun powder.
Cost is the onlything holding back production of renewable oil from Race A and Race B. B.Braunii. Cost for production keeps going down as productivity keep raising. Economy of scale is huge in this development.. More on this at the 21 club on the 21st of May...It looks like Goldman Sachs are not interested in saving the world from an oil shortage.
Just a thought, Bruce
PS: One of the large alcohol producers is using the CO2 from the fermentation to make Oil from Algae.. Great R&D but the open fermentation of B.Braunii for jet fuel is better.. We use milk liquids left over from cheese production for B.Braunii Growth in an lighted tank to improve mass development and algae count production.. Works great and we have used this for some eight years of development.. Yes it also produces a lot of oil so it will not stick to the glass.
