Oops. On grounds of self-preservation, I won't say who I just killed. In my defense, I really didn't think it would do that. Pretty sure you're in big trouble now...

I always say half a pie is better than no pie. Whatever you pass on is more than I had before - win-win ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/highfive.gif) And yet, in the context of this game, people who find themselves 'dead' - i.e. reverting back to the status of 'ordinary poster' that they enjoyed pregame - complain because what they had in the interim was not more permanent; complain, moreover, when it is reinstated because the eventual outcome remains the same; and complain, essentially, about the wrong thing, since Virgil's experiment demonstrated that a stable ecosystem of zombies and scientists is perfectly possible with a little cooperative strategy. What experiment were you watching? ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/duh.png) This game defines "instability". Starting out with a 2:1 or greater scientist-to-infected ratio shuts down the game faster than a boron rod in a fission reactor. Anything slightly less than a 2:1 scientist-to-infected ratio and the infected overrun the board within hours, nearly always wiping out the scientists first. The only halfway stable "experiment" was when I gave a small team of scientists a powerful immunity. They weren't overrun since the infected posters wasted their bites on the immune scientists, like flies bashing repeatedly into a window, rather than spreading the infection indiscriminately like proper zombies. But it still wasn't a stable game. It ended with the infection completely cured in a matter of hours. And of course soldiers just kill everybody, which nobody wants. I don't even know what their point is. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/tongue2.png) The only way to slow down the game's inevitable slide into the two possible outcomes (i.e. loss of critical mass, scientists win vs. meltdown, zombies win) is to reduce the rates at which the various powers recharge. But that's like trying to make an amusement park more fun by making the lines longer. Sure, you're there for a longer time, but... Ideally the game would have some kind of feedback into rates. For example, zombie bites would become less effective as the number of zombies grew. Or posters would sometimes spontaneously switch from scientist to layperson or vice versa, and the net flux would be determined by the relative prevalence of zombies to scientists. But things like feedback parameters are obviously much too sophisticated for a simple zombie game, which is why I'm so disappointed that Patrick Clinger locked the plugin. There's absolutely no good reason for it. That's precisely why open source is such an important software paradigm. A single developer or even a single company can't possibly program all the features everyone could want in a particular application or library. And if they did, it would be a bloated mess anyway. But such is life. And we shouldn't lose sight of the fact that the game is fun, despite the various flaws. A lot of posters seem to have gotten a real kick out of it. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/smiley.png)

Virgil, of course the game defines instability....consider the inmates turned loose with it. Interject a theoretical trove here and someone will insert the theatrical into the theoretical. (Mojo) POM with a killer instinct..who'd a thunk huh? And if ya got killed off quickly? Of course there has to be a little whine...We have to have something to go with our cheese. I think the games have been a blast. Now if we had another month till Hallowwen to keep practicing some of us technologically handicapped might even get some of it figured out...like we might even survive a bit longer than 30 or 40 seconds...In the meantime...Ive got the urge to ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/drool.gif) "brains.....

At least I took down 2 while I could - so I'm not alone.
Being the running joke is ok - it means I'm at least moving. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)
I think I was just being overly-grumpy because I've had an upset stomach & annoying allergies bothering me for the last 2 or 3 days - so I was wallowing in my misery.

I've been infected - who do I give my marbles too ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/huh.gif) SL you get the marbles!! Whew! Thanks. I lost mine a long time ago - so this new set means I can stop looking for them. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) love it! and seeing as I have no buttons while there is apparently a new game, I guess someone took me out already. that's a bummer. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/undecided.png) ETA: that's curious - I have no buttons, but am merely infected. what gives? ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/confused.png)

There's so many infected that unless you find someone who isn't infected that's the only time besides immune that you'll see any buttons. The pickings are slim at best.

Weren't zombies able to bite twice and hour and scientists able to cure only once an hour? If that's right, this condition was a foregone conclusion from the outset. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

Oh well - that's life. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png) geez louise. I had started a new game at least an hour before you posted that.
Really sorry I even started this since all I seem to see are complaints. sent from my Galaxy S4 I'm not sorry you started it.... I was bummed for not being in from the start, but I am now, even found someone two people to bite, so life is good. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/muhaha.png) Thanks for the restart. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/grin.png)
