I feel much better when I am consistently running. yet, despite that fact I go long stretches when I don't run during which I feel crappy.

Mostly when I've gotten to the point where I either run or punch people (either random people are specific ones). Try to do it for exercise too but that doesn't always work.

I mainly do it for exercise and personal fitness - okay, I do it so I can eat stuff and weigh around the same amount. I started because I had the goal of running a 5k and kept putting it off until January 2012. Now I have done 5k all the way through a marathon. When I would first do a race, it was just to complete it. Now when I race, it is for time/pace goals.

I work 60 hours a week and find it hard to run more than a mile in the evenings. I am dead tired from being on my feet and walking 10,000 plus steps at my job. I don't know if I will ever get to the point of a 5K. Last week I did manage to run 2 miles at once on my day off. I will keep trying and maybe one day I will get there.

Fitness, stress relief, and personal goals. When I started, walking two miles felt daunting (and boring) but now I start to get antsy when I don't run. I have a strained hip right now so my usual long run saturday is now a rest day (will do pilates though), but I'm laying in bed right now thinking "well maybe I can do a couple of miles..." Running has become an addiction! I like how running is a very individual and group activity. I love the alone time running allows me and I love how I push myself when I run in a race. I enjoy how I am part of something now. When I run on the trail I live near I usually get a smile and nod from passing runners. I also love how my body has changed. Who knew my thighs would become my favorite body part!

I ran a little way outdoors on uneven ground and came through okay. I might try a little more. I'm a gym-type person. I have avoided the treadmill for a couple of years now so do precor and bikes.

I've decided to add running to my list of things I won't ever do again. 1. Run 2. Bungy jump 3. Tequila shots etc... But you could combine the run (off a cliff) attached to a bungee rope while downing a shot of tequila. It could become the next Olympic sport!

People around here seem to love running. I love sports and play a lot of sports but I just can't do running for the sake of running. A friend of mine did do the Boston Marathon this year and finished a half hour ahead of the bombing.

That is the time between walking and playing golf and cross country skiing. Example of a walk down: start with three 18 holes walked each week. Drop one 18 down to 9 holes for a couple of weeks. Then another 18 down to 9 holes. Then the third down to 9 holes. At 9 holes, 3 times a week, you can start by reducing number of holes played in the 9. In an ideal world, the walk down will keep the body from going into sucking up and holding every calorie in sight. A lot of the walking can be offset by regular walking. Keep in mind, walking 18 holes of golf pushing a golf cart burns 1250 calories in 4 to 5 hours.

I found a good idea. I'm a elliptical machine user but have thought about running. I happened on a concept of all I have to do is run for one minute. Then the next day add one more minute and so on until I'm up to say a 5K. That could work.

When I first got into running, I started with the Couch to 5k plan. I even repeated weeks if the running got to be too much. I liked the run/walk intervals.
Also, the key to starting running (if you are doing it on a treadmill), is not to start out too fast. I had tried (and failed) the Couch to 5k program multiple times because I always ran at a 6 (10minute/mile). It was just too much. I bumped it down to running at 5mph (12 minute/mile) and I could complete the program. And outside, with the same effort, I can run 9 minute/mile. Treadmills are so much more difficult for me to run on.

According to my OB-GYN, that's probably the last thing a female runner who's had a hysterectomy needs to worry about when it comes to anything getting jarred loose. He said my boobs would get loose before my bladder would. Then again, he said he used really good strong thread. (I should mention I had the hysterectomy before I had my breast reduction. Now that I have less boobage, I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping those, too.) (..)

I have never been a very good runner, despite the fact that I played sports in HS which required running. Like when I say I'm not a good runner, I can run maybe a mile without stopping and that's about it. And I'm not overweight or anything.
But part of me thinks that I might just be giving up a bit early because of a random occurance that happened a few years back (still when I was a bad runner). I was running on the track at the health club and one of my old HS teachers started to run at the same time with me. We talked and ran together and, by the time I was finished, I had run 3 miles.
So basically, I need a big enough distraction to where I don't think about the running I'm doing.

Couch to 5K is the idea I found. I might try it since I detest, okay dislike, cardio. I did cardio tennis today and know my HR was well above 200 a couple of times. I confess to being a heart exercise neglector and plan to do better.
An article I read said a person is better off doing cardio than light weight training for calorie burn.
I signed up for a calorie/activity counter website. They didn't have the cardio tennis so I picked the one with the highest calorie burn. I could do a custom exercise but have zero idea on how to determine calories burned.
On the flip side of posting food intake, I know I downed well over 1000 calories last night at a function. When I logged the food, it came out way less. That's why I signed up for the site to quit fibbing myself.
It also graphs the amount of fat, protein and carbs in the food intake. I am way low on protein. Low on water intake but I did get my kudos for logging how my day went.
The best part. The very best part. Peeps posted here and maybe got interested in 5Ks practice.
