The biggest problem is a distracted public- they are too glued to reality TV and social websites to such a degree that they don't interact with the real world

Actually what Washington does (or more likely doesn't do) in the next 5-10 years in regards to addressing entitlement programs will have a major impact on our country. The CBO said as much in their recent long term budget outlook: www.cbo.gov/publication/44521I think the short sightedness of our elected officials is the biggest problem facing this country. We need to act now rather than continue to kick the can down the road which is all our elected officials continue to do as they talk about raising the debt limit, the ACA, etc. For over 3 decades now deficit spending has been a way of life instead of something used to spur the economy during a downturn or wars. I definitely agree that this short sightedness is something a lot of citizens have adopted as well whether it comes to their retirement planning or the infatuation with things that aren't important.

Not following the Ten Commandments. I know of people that 'spit' on the whole idea but my question to them is ........ which one do you disagree with. The world countries have tons of laws to enforce these commands. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Help each other through this life. Physically, mentally, emotionally. We have teachers to educate those who want to learn. Medical people to help us get/stay well. Religious leaders to help our spiritual well-being. Philosophers to help us wrestle with mind-boggling thoughts. Etc. This is a tough question and my brain can't do any more than these thoughts for now. I don't spit on the Ten Commandments, but as an agnostic I do have issues with the first four. I'm fine with the last six.

I'm with Gardening Grandma on the 10 commandments thing- I totally agree with the whole Not stealing and Not killing thing but could do without the Keep holy the Sabbath and the purely religious commandments. (Atheist here)
